طسٓمٓ
Ta. Sin. Mim
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 1
تِلۡكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ ٱلۡمُبِينِ
These are the Revelations of the Book clear in itself and clearly showing the truth
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 2
لَعَلَّكَ بَٰخِعٞ نَّفۡسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُواْ مُؤۡمِنِينَ
It may be that you (O Messenger) will torment yourself to death because they refuse to believe
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 3
إِن نَّشَأۡ نُنَزِّلۡ عَلَيۡهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ءَايَةٗ فَظَلَّتۡ أَعۡنَٰقُهُمۡ لَهَا خَٰضِعِينَ
If We will, We can send down a (compelling) sign on them from heaven, so that they are forced to bow their necks before it (in humility)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 4
وَمَا يَأۡتِيهِم مِّن ذِكۡرٖ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ مُحۡدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُواْ عَنۡهُ مُعۡرِضِينَ
Whenever a new Revelation comes to them from the All-Merciful (to warn and enlighten them), they but turn away from it in aversion
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 5
فَقَدۡ كَذَّبُواْ فَسَيَأۡتِيهِمۡ أَنۢبَـٰٓؤُاْ مَا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ
So they have obstinately denied (this Message). But soon they will come to understand what it was that they were mocking
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 6
أَوَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كَمۡ أَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجٖ كَرِيمٍ
Have they not considered the earth, how many of every noble kind We have caused to grow therein in pairs
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 7
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
Surely in this there is a sign, but most of them are not believers
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 8
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
And surely your Lord is indeed the All-Glorious with irresistible might (able to punish whoever goes against His Glory), the All-Compassionate (especially towards His believing servants)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 9
وَإِذۡ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱئۡتِ ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
(Remember) when your Lord called Moses, saying: "Go to the wrongdoing people
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 10
قَوۡمَ فِرۡعَوۡنَۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ
The people of the Pharaoh. Will they not give up their way in fear of Me and take the way of piety
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 11
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ
Moses replied: "My Lord! I fear that they will deny me
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 12
وَيَضِيقُ صَدۡرِي وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِي فَأَرۡسِلۡ إِلَىٰ هَٰرُونَ
And my breast will be constricted (so that I fail to show the necessary perseverance and tolerance), and my tongue will not be free (to convey Your Message with the right fluency), so appoint Aaron as a Messenger beside me
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 13
وَلَهُمۡ عَلَيَّ ذَنۢبٞ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقۡتُلُونِ
They also have a charge of crime against me, so I fear that they will kill me (and not let me convey Your Message)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 14
قَالَ كَلَّاۖ فَٱذۡهَبَا بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسۡتَمِعُونَ
(God) said: "Not so, indeed! Go forth, then, the two of you, with Our miraculous signs (with which I have provided you). We will surely be with you all (you and them), listening attentively (to all that is to happen between you)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 15
فَأۡتِيَا فِرۡعَوۡنَ فَقُولَآ إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
So go, both of you, to the Pharaoh and say: ‘We have come with a message from the Lord of the worlds (He Who has created and sustains everything)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 16
أَنۡ أَرۡسِلۡ مَعَنَا بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ
‘Let the Children of Israel go with us!’
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 17
قَالَ أَلَمۡ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدٗا وَلَبِثۡتَ فِينَا مِنۡ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ
(When Moses delivered his message, the Pharaoh) said: "Did we not bring you up among us (in our palace) when you were a child? And you spent many years of your life among us
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 18
وَفَعَلۡتَ فَعۡلَتَكَ ٱلَّتِي فَعَلۡتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
Then you committed that heinous deed of yours which you did, (proving thereby that) you are indeed one of the ungrateful
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 19
قَالَ فَعَلۡتُهَآ إِذٗا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
(Moses) said: "I committed that deed unintentionally when I did not know (it would end in the way it did)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 20
فَفَرَرۡتُ مِنكُمۡ لَمَّا خِفۡتُكُمۡ فَوَهَبَ لِي رَبِّي حُكۡمٗا وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
Then I fled from you when I feared (living together with) you (any longer), but (since then) my Lord has granted to me sound, wise judgment, and has made me one of His Messengers
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 21
وَتِلۡكَ نِعۡمَةٞ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَيَّ أَنۡ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ
As for that favor you taunt me with: (it is owed to the fact) that you have enslaved the Children of Israel
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 22
قَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
(The Pharaoh) said: "What (and who) is that, ‘the Lord of the worlds’
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 23
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَآۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
(Moses) answered: "The Lord (Creator, Sustainer, and sole Ruler) of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you would but (let yourselves be) convinced
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 24
قَالَ لِمَنۡ حَوۡلَهُۥٓ أَلَا تَسۡتَمِعُونَ
(The Pharaoh) said to those around him: "Do you not hear (what he is saying)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 25
قَالَ رَبُّكُمۡ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
(Moses) continued: "Your Lord, and the Lord of your forefathers
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 26
قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِيٓ أُرۡسِلَ إِلَيۡكُمۡ لَمَجۡنُونٞ
(The Pharaoh) exclaimed: "See! This Messenger of yours who has been sent to you is assuredly a madman
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 27
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقِ وَٱلۡمَغۡرِبِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَآۖ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡقِلُونَ
(Moses) went on: "He is the Lord of the east and the west and all that is between them, if you would but reason and understand
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 28
قَالَ لَئِنِ ٱتَّخَذۡتَ إِلَٰهًا غَيۡرِي لَأَجۡعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمَسۡجُونِينَ
(The Pharaoh) threatened: "If you, (O Moses,) take any deity other than me (to worship, to offer your prayer and sacrifices to, and to seek help from), I will most certainly make you one of those imprisoned
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 29
قَالَ أَوَلَوۡ جِئۡتُكَ بِشَيۡءٖ مُّبِينٖ
(Moses) said: "Even if I have brought you something clear (which demonstrates that I am speaking the truth)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 30
قَالَ فَأۡتِ بِهِۦٓ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
(The Pharaoh) answered: "Then, produce it if you are truthful (in your claim)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 31
فَأَلۡقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعۡبَانٞ مُّبِينٞ
Thereupon Moses threw down his staff, and it was manifestly a serpent
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 32
وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِيَ بَيۡضَآءُ لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَ
And he drew forth his (right) hand (from his armpit where he had put it), and thereupon it was shining white to those looking on
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 33
قَالَ لِلۡمَلَإِ حَوۡلَهُۥٓ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٞ
(The Pharaoh) said to the chiefs around him: "This is indeed a learned, skillful sorcerer
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 34
يُرِيدُ أَن يُخۡرِجَكُم مِّنۡ أَرۡضِكُم بِسِحۡرِهِۦ فَمَاذَا تَأۡمُرُونَ
Who seeks to drive you out from your land by his sorcery. What, then, do you advise (me to do)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 35
قَالُوٓاْ أَرۡجِهۡ وَأَخَاهُ وَٱبۡعَثۡ فِي ٱلۡمَدَآئِنِ حَٰشِرِينَ
They said: "Put him and his brother off for a while, and (in the meantime) send forth heralds to all cities
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 36
يَأۡتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٖ
To bring to your presence every learned, skillful sorcerer
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 37
فَجُمِعَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَٰتِ يَوۡمٖ مَّعۡلُومٖ
So the sorcerers were assembled (to contend with Moses) at the appointed time on a day (made) well-known (to all)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 38
وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلۡ أَنتُم مُّجۡتَمِعُونَ
And it was said to the people: "Will you not assemble (and attend also)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 39
لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ ٱلسَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُواْ هُمُ ٱلۡغَٰلِبِينَ
We are expecting that the sorcerers will triumph and we will follow them (in their religion)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 40
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالُواْ لِفِرۡعَوۡنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجۡرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحۡنُ ٱلۡغَٰلِبِينَ
So then the sorcerers came forth (for the encounter) and said to the Pharaoh: "We shall surely have a reward, if we are the victors, shall we
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 41
قَالَ نَعَمۡ وَإِنَّكُمۡ إِذٗا لَّمِنَ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبِينَ
(The Pharaoh) answered: "Yes, indeed. And you will then be among those near-stationed to me
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 42
قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلۡقُواْ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلۡقُونَ
Moses said to them (the sorcerers): "Throw whatever you are going to throw
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 43
فَأَلۡقَوۡاْ حِبَالَهُمۡ وَعِصِيَّهُمۡ وَقَالُواْ بِعِزَّةِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡغَٰلِبُونَ
So they threw their ropes and staffs, saying: "By the might and glory of Pharaoh, we will surely be the victors
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 44
فَأَلۡقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَلۡقَفُ مَا يَأۡفِكُونَ
Thereafter, Moses threw his staff, and behold, it swallowed up their false devices
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 45
فَأُلۡقِيَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سَٰجِدِينَ
The sorcerers threw themselves down, prostrating
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 46
قَالُوٓاْ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
And they said: "We have come to believe in the Lord of the worlds
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 47
رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ
The Lord of Moses and Aaron
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 48
قَالَ ءَامَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ قَبۡلَ أَنۡ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمۡۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِي عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحۡرَ فَلَسَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيۡدِيَكُمۡ وَأَرۡجُلَكُم مِّنۡ خِلَٰفٖ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ
(The Pharaoh) said: "What! Do you believe in Him before I give you permission? For sure he is your chief who has taught you sorcery. But in time you will certainly come to know. I will most certainly have your hands and feet cut off alternately, and then I will most certainly have you crucified all together
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 49
قَالُواْ لَا ضَيۡرَۖ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ
They responded: "There is no hurt (in what you threaten us with). For surely to our (true and everlasting) Lord we are bound to return
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 50
إِنَّا نَطۡمَعُ أَن يَغۡفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَٰيَٰنَآ أَن كُنَّآ أَوَّلَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
We ardently desire that our Lord will forgive us our sins for we are the first to believe
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 51
۞وَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنۡ أَسۡرِ بِعِبَادِيٓ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
(Events developed to the point that) We revealed to Moses: "Set forth with My servants by night: surely, you will be pursued
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 52
فَأَرۡسَلَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ فِي ٱلۡمَدَآئِنِ حَٰشِرِينَ
Then the Pharaoh sent heralds to the cities (to mobilize his troops)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 53
إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَشِرۡذِمَةٞ قَلِيلُونَ
(Saying:) "Those people are indeed a paltry band
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 54
وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَنَا لَغَآئِظُونَ
And (forgetting their lack in numbers and power), they have offended against us (and so provoked our wrath)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 55
وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَٰذِرُونَ
As for us, we are assuredly a numerous host, ever on guard
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 56
فَأَخۡرَجۡنَٰهُم مِّن جَنَّـٰتٖ وَعُيُونٖ
Thus did We drive them out of (all that they had enjoyed of) gardens and springs
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 57
وَكُنُوزٖ وَمَقَامٖ كَرِيمٖ
And treasures, excellent dwellings, and noble status
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 58
كَذَٰلِكَۖ وَأَوۡرَثۡنَٰهَا بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ
Things happened thus, and We made the Children of Israel survive them and inherit (the same kind of bounties)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 59
فَأَتۡبَعُوهُم مُّشۡرِقِينَ
At sunrise, the Pharaoh set off in pursuit of them. tyrant tyrannical
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 60
فَلَمَّا تَرَـٰٓءَا ٱلۡجَمۡعَانِ قَالَ أَصۡحَٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَمُدۡرَكُونَ
When the two hosts came in view of each other, the companions of Moses said: "We are certainly overtaken
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 61
قَالَ كَلَّآۖ إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهۡدِينِ
He replied: "Certainly not. My Lord is surely with me; He will guide me (to deliverance)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 62
فَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱضۡرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَۖ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرۡقٖ كَٱلطَّوۡدِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
We revealed to Moses: "Strike the sea with your staff." Thereupon the sea split, and each part became like a towering mountain
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 63
وَأَزۡلَفۡنَا ثَمَّ ٱلۡأٓخَرِينَ
We brought the others (the Pharaoh and his host) close to the same spot
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 64
وَأَنجَيۡنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥٓ أَجۡمَعِينَ
And We saved Moses and all those who were with him
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 65
ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا ٱلۡأٓخَرِينَ
Afterwards, We caused the others to drown
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 66
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
Surely in that (which took place between Moses and Pharaoh) there is a sign (a great, important lesson). Most of them (the Pharaoh’s people) were not believers
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 67
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
And surely your Lord is indeed the All-Glorious with irresistible might (able to punish whoever goes against His Glory), the All-Compassionate (especially towards His believing servants)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 68
وَٱتۡلُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ نَبَأَ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ
Now recite to them this exemplary history of Abraham
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 69
إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَا تَعۡبُدُونَ
When he said to his father and his people: "What is it that you worship
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 70
قَالُواْ نَعۡبُدُ أَصۡنَامٗا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَٰكِفِينَ
They said: "We worship idols; and (even though they are made of wood and stone) we are ever devoted to them (as they are our deities)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 71
قَالَ هَلۡ يَسۡمَعُونَكُمۡ إِذۡ تَدۡعُونَ
(Abraham) said: "Do they hear you when you invoke them
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 72
أَوۡ يَنفَعُونَكُمۡ أَوۡ يَضُرُّونَ
Or do they benefit you (when you worship them) or harm (you when you do not)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 73
قَالُواْ بَلۡ وَجَدۡنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفۡعَلُونَ
They replied: "But we found our forefathers doing the same
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 74
قَالَ أَفَرَءَيۡتُم مَّا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُونَ
(Abraham) said: "So, have you considered what you have been worshipping
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 75
أَنتُمۡ وَءَابَآؤُكُمُ ٱلۡأَقۡدَمُونَ
You and all your forefathers that have passed (before you)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 76
فَإِنَّهُمۡ عَدُوّٞ لِّيٓ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
I see that they (all that you worship) are enemies to me, but the Lord of the worlds is not
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 77
ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَنِي فَهُوَ يَهۡدِينِ
He Who has created me and so guides me (to whatever is to my benefit in both this world and the next)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 78
وَٱلَّذِي هُوَ يُطۡعِمُنِي وَيَسۡقِينِ
And He it is Who gives me food and drink
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 79
وَإِذَا مَرِضۡتُ فَهُوَ يَشۡفِينِ
And Who, when I fall ill, heals me
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 80
وَٱلَّذِي يُمِيتُنِي ثُمَّ يُحۡيِينِ
And Who will make me die and then will give me life again
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 81
وَٱلَّذِيٓ أَطۡمَعُ أَن يَغۡفِرَ لِي خَطِيٓـَٔتِي يَوۡمَ ٱلدِّينِ
And Who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 82
رَبِّ هَبۡ لِي حُكۡمٗا وَأَلۡحِقۡنِي بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
My Lord! Grant me true, wise judgment, and join me with the righteous
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 83
وَٱجۡعَل لِّي لِسَانَ صِدۡقٖ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ
And grant me a most true and virtuous renown among posterity
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 84
وَٱجۡعَلۡنِي مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of bounty and blessing
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 85
وَٱغۡفِرۡ لِأَبِيٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
And forgive my father, for he is among those who have gone astray
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 86
وَلَا تُخۡزِنِي يَوۡمَ يُبۡعَثُونَ
And do not disgrace me on the Day when all people will be raised up to life
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 87
يَوۡمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٞ وَلَا بَنُونَ
The Day when neither wealth will be of any use, nor offspring
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 88
إِلَّا مَنۡ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلۡبٖ سَلِيمٖ
But only he (will prosper) who comes before God with a sound heart (free of all kinds of unbelief, hypocrisy, and associating partners with God)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 89
وَأُزۡلِفَتِ ٱلۡجَنَّةُ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ
And Paradise (on that Day) will be brought near for the God-revering, pious
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 90
وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلۡجَحِيمُ لِلۡغَاوِينَ
And the Blazing Flame will be laid open before those who rebelled (against God) and went astray
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 91
وَقِيلَ لَهُمۡ أَيۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُونَ
They will be asked: "Where are all those (idols or revered human beings, or angels, or jinn) that you used to worship
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 92
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ هَلۡ يَنصُرُونَكُمۡ أَوۡ يَنتَصِرُونَ
Apart from God? Can they be of any help to you, or even to themselves
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 93
فَكُبۡكِبُواْ فِيهَا هُمۡ وَٱلۡغَاوُۥنَ
Then they will be hurled into the Flame headlong, one upon another – they (the idols), and the rebellious (who worship them)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 94
وَجُنُودُ إِبۡلِيسَ أَجۡمَعُونَ
And so too the hosts of Iblis, all together
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 95
قَالُواْ وَهُمۡ فِيهَا يَخۡتَصِمُونَ
Blaming one another therein, they (the rebellious) will say (to the others)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 96
تَٱللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِي ضَلَٰلٖ مُّبِينٍ
By God, assuredly, we were lost in obvious error
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 97
إِذۡ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
When we held you as equals (in worship and obedience) to the Lord of the worlds
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 98
وَمَآ أَضَلَّنَآ إِلَّا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ
It is none but the criminals (the leaders in associating partners with God) who led us astray
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 99
فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَٰفِعِينَ
And now we have none to intercede (on our behalf)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 100
وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٖ
Nor any intimate friend
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 101
فَلَوۡ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةٗ فَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
If only we had a second chance (in the world), so that we might be among the believers
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 102
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
Surely in that (which took place between Abraham and his people) there is a sign (a great, important lesson). Most of them were not believers
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 103
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
And surely your Lord is indeed the All-Glorious with irresistible might (able to punish whoever goes against His Glory), the All-Compassionate (especially towards His believing servants)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 104
كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
The people of Noah denied (Noah and thereby meant to deny all) the Messengers
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 105
إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
(Recall) when their brother Noah said to them (by way of timely warning): "Will you not keep from disobedience to God in reverence for Him and seek refuge with His protection
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 106
إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞ
Surely I am a Messenger to you, trustworthy
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 107
فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
So keep form disobedience to God in reverence for Him, and obey me
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 108
وَمَآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
I ask of you no wage for that (for conveying God’s Message); my wage is due only from the Lord of the worlds
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 109
فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
So keep from disobedience to God in reverence for Him, and obey me
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 110
۞قَالُوٓاْ أَنُؤۡمِنُ لَكَ وَٱتَّبَعَكَ ٱلۡأَرۡذَلُونَ
They responded: "Shall we believe in you, when the lowliest (among the people) follow you
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 111
قَالَ وَمَا عِلۡمِي بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ
(Noah) said: "What knowledge could I have about what they were engaged in doing (before they became believers)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 112
إِنۡ حِسَابُهُمۡ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّيۖ لَوۡ تَشۡعُرُونَ
Indeed their reckoning rests with none but my Lord; if only you could understand
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 113
وَمَآ أَنَا۠ بِطَارِدِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
And it is not expected of me that I should repel the believers
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 114
إِنۡ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٞ
I am but a plain warner (responsible for no other duty than the duty to warn)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 115
قَالُواْ لَئِن لَّمۡ تَنتَهِ يَٰنُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمَرۡجُومِينَ
They said: "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will certainly be stoned to death in utter abjection
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 116
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوۡمِي كَذَّبُونِ
(After ages of struggle) he said (in supplication): "My Lord! Indeed, my people have denied me
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 117
فَٱفۡتَحۡ بَيۡنِي وَبَيۡنَهُمۡ فَتۡحٗا وَنَجِّنِي وَمَن مَّعِيَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
So judge between me and them a conclusive (and everlasting) separation, and save me and the believers in my company
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 118
فَأَنجَيۡنَٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِي ٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلۡمَشۡحُونِ
So We saved him and those who were with him in the laden Ark
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 119
ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا بَعۡدُ ٱلۡبَاقِينَ
And then, following their rescue, We caused the rest to drown
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 120
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
Surely in that (which took place between Noah and his people) there is a sign (a great, important lesson). Most of them were not believers
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 121
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
And surely your Lord is indeed the All-Glorious with irresistible might (able to punish whoever goes against His Glory), the All-Compassionate (especially towards His believing servants)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 122
كَذَّبَتۡ عَادٌ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
The ‘Ad denied (Hud and thereby meant to deny all) the Messengers
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 123
إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
(Recall) when their brother Hud said to them (by way of timely warning): "Will you not keep from disobedience to God in reverence for Him and seek refuge with His protection
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 124
إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞ
Surely I am a Messenger to you, trustworthy
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 125
فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
So keep from disobedience to God in reverence for Him and obey me
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 126
وَمَآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
I ask of you no wage for that (for conveying God’s Message); my wage is only due from the Lord of the worlds
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 127
أَتَبۡنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ ءَايَةٗ تَعۡبَثُونَ
Will you continue to build on every high spot monumental buildings for fun and show
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 128
وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَخۡلُدُونَ
And make for yourselves great castles (as if) hoping that you might live for ever
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 129
وَإِذَا بَطَشۡتُم بَطَشۡتُمۡ جَبَّارِينَ
And when you strike and seize (others and their goods), strike and seize in the style of tyrants
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 130
فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
So keep from disobedience to God in reverence for Him and obey me
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 131
وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعۡلَمُونَ
Keep from disobedience to Him Who has amply provided you with (all that) you are well-aware of
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 132
أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنۡعَٰمٖ وَبَنِينَ
Amply provided you with flocks and herds and children
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 133
وَجَنَّـٰتٖ وَعُيُونٍ
And gardens and springs
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 134
إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٖ
Indeed I fear for you the punishment of an awesome Day
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 135
قَالُواْ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيۡنَآ أَوَعَظۡتَ أَمۡ لَمۡ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡوَٰعِظِينَ
They responded: "It is all the same to us whether you preach or are not of those who preach
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 136
إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا خُلُقُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
This (what we do) is the pattern of conduct of (all our) predecessors
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 137
وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
And (so) we are not going to be subject to any punishment
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 138
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهۡلَكۡنَٰهُمۡۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
So they denied him and, in consequence, We destroyed them. Surely in that (which took place between Hud and his people) there is a sign (a great, important lesson). Most of them were not believers
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 139
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
And surely your Lord is indeed the All-Glorious with irresistible might (able to punish whoever goes against His Glory), the All-Compassionate (especially towards His believing servants)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 140
كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
The Thamud denied (Salih and thereby meant to deny all) the Messengers
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 141
إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ صَٰلِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
(Recall) when their brother Salih said to them (by way of timely warning): "Will you not keep from disobedience to God in reverence for Him and seek refuge with His protection
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 142
إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞ
I am indeed a Messenger to you, trustworthy
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 143
فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
So keep from disobedience to God in reverence for Him and obey me
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 144
وَمَآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
I ask of you no wage for that (for conveying God’s Message); my wage is only due from the Lord of the worlds
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 145
أَتُتۡرَكُونَ فِي مَا هَٰهُنَآ ءَامِنِينَ
(Do you think) you will be left secure forever in what is here before us
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 146
فِي جَنَّـٰتٖ وَعُيُونٖ
Amidst gardens and springs
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 147
وَزُرُوعٖ وَنَخۡلٖ طَلۡعُهَا هَضِيمٞ
Cornfields and date-palms with heavy bunches (of dates)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 148
وَتَنۡحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ بُيُوتٗا فَٰرِهِينَ
And that you will (continue to) skillfully hew dwellings out of mountains
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 149
فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
So keep from disobedience to God in reverence for Him and obey me
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 150
وَلَا تُطِيعُوٓاْ أَمۡرَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ
And do not follow the commands of those who are wasteful (of God-given faculties) and commit excesses
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 151
ٱلَّذِينَ يُفۡسِدُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا يُصۡلِحُونَ
Those who cause disorder and corruption on the earth, without setting things right
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 152
قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَحَّرِينَ
They responded: "You are only one of those who are bewitched
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 153
مَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثۡلُنَا فَأۡتِ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
You are but a mortal like us, so produce a sign if you are truthful (in your claim of Messengership)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 154
قَالَ هَٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةٞ لَّهَا شِرۡبٞ وَلَكُمۡ شِرۡبُ يَوۡمٖ مَّعۡلُومٖ
(Salih) said: "This is a she-camel, one day is for her to drink and one day is for you to get water
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 155
وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٖ فَيَأۡخُذَكُمۡ عَذَابُ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٖ
Do not touch her with evil lest the punishment of an awesome Day should seize you
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 156
فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصۡبَحُواْ نَٰدِمِينَ
But (after a time, being unable to put up with it any longer,) they cruelly slaughtered her, and then became regretful
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 157
فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
For the (shocking) punishment seized them. Surely in that (which took place between Salih and his people) there is a sign (a great, important lesson). Most of them were not believers
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 158
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
And surely your Lord is indeed the All-Glorious with irresistible might (able to punish whoever goes against His Glory), the All-Compassionate (especially towards His believing servants)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 159
كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ لُوطٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
The people of Lot denied (Lot and thereby meant to deny all) the Messengers
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 160
إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
(Recall) when their brother Lot said to them (by way of timely warning): "Will you not keep from disobedience to God in reverence for Him and seek refuge with His protection
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 161
إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞ
I am indeed a Messenger to you, trustworthy
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 162
فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
So keep from disobedience to God in reverence for Him and obey me
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 163
وَمَآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
I ask of you no wage for that (for conveying God’s Message); my wage is only due from the Lord of the worlds
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 164
أَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلذُّكۡرَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
What! Do you, of all the world’s people, approach men (with lust)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 165
وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمۡ رَبُّكُم مِّنۡ أَزۡوَٰجِكُمۚ بَلۡ أَنتُمۡ قَوۡمٌ عَادُونَ
And leave aside what your Lord has created (and made lawful) for you in your wives? No, indeed! you are a people exceeding all bounds (of decency)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 166
قَالُواْ لَئِن لَّمۡ تَنتَهِ يَٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُخۡرَجِينَ
They responded: "If you do not desist, you will most certainly be cast out (from our land)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 167
قَالَ إِنِّي لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقَالِينَ
(Lot) said: "I am indeed one who abhors your practice
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 168
رَبِّ نَجِّنِي وَأَهۡلِي مِمَّا يَعۡمَلُونَ
(And he prayed:) "My Lord! Save me and my family from (the consequences of) what they have been doing
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 169
فَنَجَّيۡنَٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥٓ أَجۡمَعِينَ
So We saved him and his family, all of them
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 170
إِلَّا عَجُوزٗا فِي ٱلۡغَٰبِرِينَ
Except an old woman, who was among those who stayed behind (and were destroyed)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 171
ثُمَّ دَمَّرۡنَا ٱلۡأٓخَرِينَ
Then We annihilated the others
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 172
وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَيۡهِم مَّطَرٗاۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِينَ
We poured upon them a (destructive) rain (of stones). How evil was the rain of those who had been warned
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 173
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
Surely in that (which took place between Lot and his people) there is a sign (a great, important lesson). Most of them were not believers
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 174
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
And surely your Lord is indeed the All-Glorious with irresistible might (able to punish whoever goes against His Glory), the All-Compassionate (especially towards His believing servants)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 175
كَذَّبَ أَصۡحَٰبُ لۡـَٔيۡكَةِ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
The dwellers of al-Aykah denied (Shu‘ayb and thereby meant to deny all) the Messengers
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 176
إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ شُعَيۡبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
(Recall) when Shu‘ayb said to them (by way of timely warning): "Will you not keep from disobedience to God in reverence for Him and seek refuge with His protection
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 177
إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞ
I am indeed a Messenger to you, trustworthy
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 178
فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
So keep from disobedience to God in reverence for Him and obey me
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 179
وَمَآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
I ask of you no wage for that (for conveying God’s Message); my wage is only due from the Lord of the worlds
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 180
۞أَوۡفُواْ ٱلۡكَيۡلَ وَلَا تَكُونُواْ مِنَ ٱلۡمُخۡسِرِينَ
Give full measure (in all your dealings) and be not one of those who (by cheating and giving less) cause loss to others
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 181
وَزِنُواْ بِٱلۡقِسۡطَاسِ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمِ
And weigh with the straighta true, accurate balance
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 182
وَلَا تَبۡخَسُواْ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشۡيَآءَهُمۡ وَلَا تَعۡثَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مُفۡسِدِينَ
Do not wrong people by depriving them of what is rightfully theirs, and do not go about acting wickedly in the land, causing disorder and corruption
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 183
وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكُمۡ وَٱلۡجِبِلَّةَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
Keep from disobedience to Him in reverence for Him Who has created you and all the earlier generations
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 184
قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَحَّرِينَ
They responded: "You are only one of those who are bewitched
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 185
وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثۡلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ
You are but a mortal like us, and we have become convinced that you are certainly one of the liars
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 186
فَأَسۡقِطۡ عَلَيۡنَا كِسَفٗا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
So cause lumps from the sky to fall down upon us, if you are truthful in your claim (of Messengership)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 187
قَالَ رَبِّيٓ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ
(Shu‘ayb) said: "My Lord knows well all that you do." (Thus he referred their matter to God)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 188
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمۡ عَذَابُ يَوۡمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٍ
So they denied him and in consequence, the punishment of the Day of the Overshadowing seized them. It surely was the punishment of an awesome day
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 189
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
Surely in that (which took place between Shu‘ayb and his people) there is a sign (a great, important lesson). Most of them were not believers
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 190
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
And surely your Lord is indeed the All-Glorious with irresistible might (able to punish whoever goes against His Glory), the All-Compassionate (especially towards His believing servants)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 191
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
This (Qur’an) is indeed the Book of the Lord of the worlds being sent down by Him (in parts)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 192
نَزَلَ بِهِ ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلۡأَمِينُ
The Trustworthy Spirit brings it down
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 193
عَلَىٰ قَلۡبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُنذِرِينَ
On your heart, so that you may be one of the warners (entrusted with the Divine Revelation)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 194
بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِيّٖ مُّبِينٖ
In clear Arabic tongue
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 195
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِي زُبُرِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
It has certainly been (prefigured) in the previous Scriptures
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 196
أَوَلَمۡ يَكُن لَّهُمۡ ءَايَةً أَن يَعۡلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَـٰٓؤُاْ بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ
Is it not an evidence enough for them that the scholars of the Children of Israel know it (to be so)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 197
وَلَوۡ نَزَّلۡنَٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضِ ٱلۡأَعۡجَمِينَ
But even if We had sent it down on any of the non-Arabs
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 198
فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَيۡهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ مُؤۡمِنِينَ
And he had recited it to them, they would still not have believed in it
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 199
كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكۡنَٰهُ فِي قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ
Thus (because of their willful persistence in unbelief and injustices) have We caused it (the Qur’an) to pass unheeded through the hearts of the disbelieving criminals
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 200
لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُاْ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِيمَ
(Despite irrefutable proofs of its truth,) they will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 201
فَيَأۡتِيَهُم بَغۡتَةٗ وَهُمۡ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَ
So it will come on them all of a sudden, when they are unaware (and incapable of awareness) of its coming
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 202
فَيَقُولُواْ هَلۡ نَحۡنُ مُنظَرُونَ
Then they say: "Are we to be granted some respite (so that we might reform ourselves)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 203
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ
(This being so,) do they still wish for Our punishment to be hastened
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 204
أَفَرَءَيۡتَ إِن مَّتَّعۡنَٰهُمۡ سِنِينَ
Have you considered that, if We let them enjoy life for many (more) years (– something they will desperately wish for when they face the punishment)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 205
ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يُوعَدُونَ
And the punishment they were promised comes upon them after that
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 206
مَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يُمَتَّعُونَ
It will be of no avail to them at all (that their lives of enjoyment were prolonged)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 207
وَمَآ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَرۡيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ
We have never destroyed any township except that it had warners (sent to it)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 208
ذِكۡرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ
To remind and admonish them. We have never been unjust
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 209
وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتۡ بِهِ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ
It is not the satans who have brought down this (Book)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 210
وَمَا يَنۢبَغِي لَهُمۡ وَمَا يَسۡتَطِيعُونَ
It is neither (permitted nor proper) for them, nor is it within their power (to do that)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 211
إِنَّهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلسَّمۡعِ لَمَعۡزُولُونَ
Indeed they are utterly debarred even from hearing it (during its Revelation)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 212
فَلَا تَدۡعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُعَذَّبِينَ
Hence, never take to you any other deity to invoke besides God, lest you should become of those condemned to the punishment
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 213
وَأَنذِرۡ عَشِيرَتَكَ ٱلۡأَقۡرَبِينَ
And (O Messenger) warn your nearest kinsfolk
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 214
وَٱخۡفِضۡ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Spread your wings (to provide care and shelter) over the believers who follow you (in practicing God’s commandments in their lives)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 215
فَإِنۡ عَصَوۡكَ فَقُلۡ إِنِّي بَرِيٓءٞ مِّمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ
But if they disobey you (your kinsfolk by refusing your call, or those who have newly believed by not giving up their former way of life), then say (to them): "I am free of (responsibility for) what you do
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 216
وَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
And (taking no account of any earthly power in performing your mission) put your trust in the All-Glorious with irresistible might (able to do whatever He wills), the All-Compassionate (especially towards His believing servants)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 217
ٱلَّذِي يَرَىٰكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ
He Who sees you when you rise (in the Prayer, and in readiness to carry out Our commands)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 218
وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِي ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ
As well as your strenuous efforts in prostration among those who prostrate (to be able to fulfill your duty of servanthood and help the believer to reform their lives)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 219
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
Surely, He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 220
هَلۡ أُنَبِّئُكُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ
(O people!) Shall I inform you upon whom the satans descend
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 221
تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٖ
They descend upon everyone addicted to inventing falsehoods, addicted to sinning
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 222
يُلۡقُونَ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ كَٰذِبُونَ
They (the satans) give ear eagerly (to the conversations of the angels, and whisper to every forger lost in sin as if they received something), but they (both the satans and their sinful agents) are liars in most of their words
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 223
وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلۡغَاوُۥنَ
As for poets, only the misguided follow them
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 224
أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّهُمۡ فِي كُلِّ وَادٖ يَهِيمُونَ
Do you not see that they roam confusedly through all the valleys (of falsehoods, thoughts, and currents)
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 225
وَأَنَّهُمۡ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفۡعَلُونَ
And they say what they themselves do not do
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 226
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ وَذَكَرُواْ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرٗا وَٱنتَصَرُواْ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا ظُلِمُواْۗ وَسَيَعۡلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَيَّ مُنقَلَبٖ يَنقَلِبُونَ
Except those who believe and do good, righteous deeds, and remember God much, and vindicate themselves when they have been wronged. The wrongdoers will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned
Surah Ash-Shuara, Verse 227
