Surah As-Sajda - English Translation by Mir Aneesuddin

الٓمٓ

تَنزِيلُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ لَا رَيۡبَ فِيهِ مِن رَّبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

The sending down of the book, in which there is nothing doubtful, (is) from the Lord of the worlds
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 2

أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ ٱفۡتَرَىٰهُۚ بَلۡ هُوَ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ لِتُنذِرَ قَوۡمٗا مَّآ أَتَىٰهُم مِّن نَّذِيرٖ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَهۡتَدُونَ

Or do they say, “He has forged it?” No, it is the truth from your Lord that you may warn a people to whom no warner has come before you, they that may receive guidance
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 3

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٖ ثُمَّ ٱسۡتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلۡعَرۡشِۖ مَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ مِن وَلِيّٖ وَلَا شَفِيعٍۚ أَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ

It is God Who created the skies and the earth and that which is between them both, in six periods, then He set the balance on the throne (of the universe). You do not have besides Him any guardian nor do you have a mediator. Then, will you not be mindful
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 4

يُدَبِّرُ ٱلۡأَمۡرَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ثُمَّ يَعۡرُجُ إِلَيۡهِ فِي يَوۡمٖ كَانَ مِقۡدَارُهُۥٓ أَلۡفَ سَنَةٖ مِّمَّا تَعُدُّونَ

He governs the affair from the sky to the earth, then it will ascend to Him in a day, the measure of which is a thousand years of that which you count
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 5

ذَٰلِكَ عَٰلِمُ ٱلۡغَيۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

That is the Knower of the unseen and the seen, the Mighty, the Merciful
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 6

ٱلَّذِيٓ أَحۡسَنَ كُلَّ شَيۡءٍ خَلَقَهُۥۖ وَبَدَأَ خَلۡقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنِ مِن طِينٖ

Who made good everything which He created, and He began the creation of man from clay
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 7

ثُمَّ جَعَلَ نَسۡلَهُۥ مِن سُلَٰلَةٖ مِّن مَّآءٖ مَّهِينٖ

then made His progeny from something (sperm and egg) taken out from the fluid (which is) weakened after vigour
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 8

ثُمَّ سَوَّىٰهُ وَنَفَخَ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِهِۦۖ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرَ وَٱلۡأَفۡـِٔدَةَۚ قَلِيلٗا مَّا تَشۡكُرُونَ

then He set him in equilibrium and breathed into him from His spirit and made for you the (sources of) hearing and seeing and the hearts, little is the gratitude you show
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 9

وَقَالُوٓاْ أَءِذَا ضَلَلۡنَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَءِنَّا لَفِي خَلۡقٖ جَدِيدِۭۚ بَلۡ هُم بِلِقَآءِ رَبِّهِمۡ كَٰفِرُونَ

And they say, “What! when we are lost in the earth, will we then be in a new creation?” No, they do not believe in (their) meeting with their Lord
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 10

۞قُلۡ يَتَوَفَّىٰكُم مَّلَكُ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ ٱلَّذِي وُكِّلَ بِكُمۡ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمۡ تُرۡجَعُونَ

Say, “The angel of death, who is entrusted with you, will take you back (cause you to die), then to your Lord you will be returned.”
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 11

وَلَوۡ تَرَىٰٓ إِذِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ نَاكِسُواْ رُءُوسِهِمۡ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ رَبَّنَآ أَبۡصَرۡنَا وَسَمِعۡنَا فَٱرۡجِعۡنَا نَعۡمَلۡ صَٰلِحًا إِنَّا مُوقِنُونَ

And if you (could only) see, when the criminals would bow down their heads before their Lord (pleading), “Our Lord! we have seen and heard, so send us back we will do righteous work, (now) we are certain.”
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 12

وَلَوۡ شِئۡنَا لَأٓتَيۡنَا كُلَّ نَفۡسٍ هُدَىٰهَا وَلَٰكِنۡ حَقَّ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ مِنِّي لَأَمۡلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ أَجۡمَعِينَ

And had We willed We could have guided every soul, but the word from Me that, “I will fill hell with the jinn and human beings together,” will be (proved) true
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 13

فَذُوقُواْ بِمَا نَسِيتُمۡ لِقَآءَ يَوۡمِكُمۡ هَٰذَآ إِنَّا نَسِينَٰكُمۡۖ وَذُوقُواْ عَذَابَ ٱلۡخُلۡدِ بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ

So taste (the punishment), because you forgot the meeting of this day of yours We (too) will forget you. And taste the everlasting punishment because of that which you used to do
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 14

إِنَّمَا يُؤۡمِنُ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُواْ بِهَا خَرُّواْۤ سُجَّدٗاۤ وَسَبَّحُواْ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَهُمۡ لَا يَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ۩

Only those believe in Our signs who, when they are reminded through them, fall down prostrate and glorify by praising their Lord and they do not consider themselves great
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 15

تَتَجَافَىٰ جُنُوبُهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلۡمَضَاجِعِ يَدۡعُونَ رَبَّهُمۡ خَوۡفٗا وَطَمَعٗا وَمِمَّا رَزَقۡنَٰهُمۡ يُنفِقُونَ

Their sides keep away from their beds, they pray to their Lord in fear and in hope and they spend from that which We have provided them
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 16

فَلَا تَعۡلَمُ نَفۡسٞ مَّآ أُخۡفِيَ لَهُم مِّن قُرَّةِ أَعۡيُنٖ جَزَآءَۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ

So no soul knows what is hidden from it, of (that which) comforts the eye, (as a) reward for that which they used to do
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 17

أَفَمَن كَانَ مُؤۡمِنٗا كَمَن كَانَ فَاسِقٗاۚ لَّا يَسۡتَوُۥنَ

Then, is he who is a believer, like him who is a transgressor? They are not equal
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 18

أَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ فَلَهُمۡ جَنَّـٰتُ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ نُزُلَۢا بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ

As for those who believe and do righteous works, for them are gardens as (their) settling place, a gift for what they used to do
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 19

وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ فَسَقُواْ فَمَأۡوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُۖ كُلَّمَآ أَرَادُوٓاْ أَن يَخۡرُجُواْ مِنۡهَآ أُعِيدُواْ فِيهَا وَقِيلَ لَهُمۡ ذُوقُواْ عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ ٱلَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ

And as for those who transgress, their settling place is the fire, whenever they will intend to come out of it, they will be returned into it and it will be said to them, “Taste the punishment of the fire which you used to deny.”
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 20

وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡأَدۡنَىٰ دُونَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡأَكۡبَرِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَرۡجِعُونَ

And We will definitely make them taste (something) from a nearer punishment besides the greater punishment, that they may return
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 21

وَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّن ذُكِّرَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِۦ ثُمَّ أَعۡرَضَ عَنۡهَآۚ إِنَّا مِنَ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ مُنتَقِمُونَ

And who is more unjust than one who is reminded through the signs of his Lord, then he turns away from them? We will definitely inflict retribution on the criminals
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 22

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ فَلَا تَكُن فِي مِرۡيَةٖ مِّن لِّقَآئِهِۦۖ وَجَعَلۡنَٰهُ هُدٗى لِّبَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ

And We indeed gave the book to Moses, so do not be in doubt about his receiving it, and We made it a guide for the children of Israel
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 23

وَجَعَلۡنَا مِنۡهُمۡ أَئِمَّةٗ يَهۡدُونَ بِأَمۡرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُواْۖ وَكَانُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يُوقِنُونَ

And when they were patient and they had certainty in Our signs, We made from among them leaders who guided by Our command
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 24

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَفۡصِلُ بَيۡنَهُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ فِيمَا كَانُواْ فِيهِ يَخۡتَلِفُونَ

Your Lord will certainly decide between them on the day of resurrection, concerning that wherein they used to differ
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 25

أَوَلَمۡ يَهۡدِ لَهُمۡ كَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِهِم مِّنَ ٱلۡقُرُونِ يَمۡشُونَ فِي مَسَٰكِنِهِمۡۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٍۚ أَفَلَا يَسۡمَعُونَ

I s it not (enough) for their guidance: How many of the generations before them did We destroy, in whose dwelling places they walk? Certainly there are signs in that. Will they not then hear
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 26

أَوَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ أَنَّا نَسُوقُ ٱلۡمَآءَ إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلۡجُرُزِ فَنُخۡرِجُ بِهِۦ زَرۡعٗا تَأۡكُلُ مِنۡهُ أَنۡعَٰمُهُمۡ وَأَنفُسُهُمۡۚ أَفَلَا يُبۡصِرُونَ

Did they not see that We drive the water to the barren earth, then We bring out vegetation from it, from which their cattle and they themselves eat, will they not then see
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 27

وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا ٱلۡفَتۡحُ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ

And they say, “When will this judgment be if you are truthful?”
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 28

قُلۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَتۡحِ لَا يَنفَعُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ إِيمَٰنُهُمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ يُنظَرُونَ

Say, “On the day of judgment, the believing of those who had not believed (earlier) will not benefit them, and they will not be given time (for amendment).”
Surah As-Sajda, Verse 29
