Surah Al-Munafiqoon - English Translation by Dr Kamal Omar
إِذَا جَآءَكَ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقُونَ قَالُواْ نَشۡهَدُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعۡلَمُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُهُۥ وَٱللَّهُ يَشۡهَدُ إِنَّ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ لَكَٰذِبُونَ
When the hypocrites approached you, they said: “We bear witness, surely you are indeed Messenger of Allah.” And Allah Knows, surely you are indeed His Messenger, and Allah bears witness, surely the hypocrites are indeed liars
Surah Al-Munafiqoon, Verse 1
ٱتَّخَذُوٓاْ أَيۡمَٰنَهُمۡ جُنَّةٗ فَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّهُمۡ سَآءَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ
They have picked up their oaths as a shield, so they have hindered (people) from the Path of Allah. Surely they: evil is what they used to practice
Surah Al-Munafiqoon, Verse 2
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ ءَامَنُواْ ثُمَّ كَفَرُواْ فَطُبِعَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ فَهُمۡ لَا يَفۡقَهُونَ
That (is the situation) because they accepted Faith, later on they rejected belief; then a seal got fixed on their hearts, so they do not think or understand
Surah Al-Munafiqoon, Verse 3
۞وَإِذَا رَأَيۡتَهُمۡ تُعۡجِبُكَ أَجۡسَامُهُمۡۖ وَإِن يَقُولُواْ تَسۡمَعۡ لِقَوۡلِهِمۡۖ كَأَنَّهُمۡ خُشُبٞ مُّسَنَّدَةٞۖ يَحۡسَبُونَ كُلَّ صَيۡحَةٍ عَلَيۡهِمۡۚ هُمُ ٱلۡعَدُوُّ فَٱحۡذَرۡهُمۡۚ قَٰتَلَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۖ أَنَّىٰ يُؤۡفَكُونَ
And when you looked at them, their bodies put you to wonder; and if they speak you become attentive to their statement. They are (worthless) pieces of timber, propped up, (unable to stand on their own). They regard every powerful sound against them. They are the enemy (of Islam and Al-Kitab) — so take protection against them. Allah has condemed them. Where are they being misled in falsehood
Surah Al-Munafiqoon, Verse 4
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمۡ تَعَالَوۡاْ يَسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لَكُمۡ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ لَوَّوۡاْ رُءُوسَهُمۡ وَرَأَيۡتَهُمۡ يَصُدُّونَ وَهُم مُّسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ
And when it is said to them: “Come, Messenger of Allah will seek forgiveness for you,” they turned their heads aside and you saw them: they hinder (from the path) and they are those who are in pride and arrogance
Surah Al-Munafiqoon, Verse 5
سَوَآءٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ أَسۡتَغۡفَرۡتَ لَهُمۡ أَمۡ لَمۡ تَسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لَهُمۡ لَن يَغۡفِرَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهۡدِي ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَٰسِقِينَ
(It is) equal for them whether you asked forgiveness for them or you do not seek forgiveness for them; Allah never forgives them. Verily, Allah does not guide the nation of Al-Fasiqun
Surah Al-Munafiqoon, Verse 6
هُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ لَا تُنفِقُواْ عَلَىٰ مَنۡ عِندَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ حَتَّىٰ يَنفَضُّواْۗ وَلِلَّهِ خَزَآئِنُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ لَا يَفۡقَهُونَ
They are the ones who say: “Spend not on those who are in presence of Allah’s Messenger until they desert (him).” And to Allah belong the treasures of the heavens and the earth, but the hypocrites do not understand
Surah Al-Munafiqoon, Verse 7
يَقُولُونَ لَئِن رَّجَعۡنَآ إِلَى ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ لَيُخۡرِجَنَّ ٱلۡأَعَزُّ مِنۡهَا ٱلۡأَذَلَّۚ وَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡعِزَّةُ وَلِرَسُولِهِۦ وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ
They say: “Surely, if we returned towards Al-Madinah, indeed, the more honourable (of this capital-city) will expel therefrom that who stands at the lowest strata of the society”. And to Allah (goes) the real honour, and to His Messenger and to the Believers. But the hypocrites do not know (the priorities in a Muslim state)
Surah Al-Munafiqoon, Verse 8
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تُلۡهِكُمۡ أَمۡوَٰلُكُمۡ وَلَآ أَوۡلَٰدُكُمۡ عَن ذِكۡرِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَمَن يَفۡعَلۡ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡخَٰسِرُونَ
O you who have Believed! Let not your possessions, and nor your children divert you against Zikr (‘Message’) of Allah. And whosoever does that, then those people; they (are) the losers
Surah Al-Munafiqoon, Verse 9
وَأَنفِقُواْ مِن مَّا رَزَقۡنَٰكُم مِّن قَبۡلِ أَن يَأۡتِيَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ فَيَقُولَ رَبِّ لَوۡلَآ أَخَّرۡتَنِيٓ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ قَرِيبٖ فَأَصَّدَّقَ وَأَكُن مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
And spend out of that which We have bestowed on you as provision before (the stage) that death approaches any one of you, and he may say: 'My Nourisher-Sustainer! Why did You not give me respite for a little while so that I may give donation (in the Way of Allah), and I become of those who are righteous
Surah Al-Munafiqoon, Verse 10
وَلَن يُؤَخِّرَ ٱللَّهُ نَفۡسًا إِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهَاۚ وَٱللَّهُ خَبِيرُۢ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ
And Allah will never give respite to (any) Nafs when her appointed time (for death) has approached. And Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do
Surah Al-Munafiqoon, Verse 11
