Surah Al-Mulk - English Translation by Mohammad Shafi
تَبَٰرَكَ ٱلَّذِي بِيَدِهِ ٱلۡمُلۡكُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٌ
Blessed is He in Whose hand is the Sovereignty! And He has power over all things
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 1
ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ وَٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ لِيَبۡلُوَكُمۡ أَيُّكُمۡ أَحۡسَنُ عَمَلٗاۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡغَفُورُ
The One Who has created the death and the life to test which of you is good in conduct. And He is the One Omnipotent, Forgiving
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 2
ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ سَبۡعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٖ طِبَاقٗاۖ مَّا تَرَىٰ فِي خَلۡقِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ مِن تَفَٰوُتٖۖ فَٱرۡجِعِ ٱلۡبَصَرَ هَلۡ تَرَىٰ مِن فُطُورٖ
The One Who has created seven heavens one over another. You shall not see anything amiss in the creation of the Gracious One! Then look again: can you see any incongruities
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 3
ثُمَّ ٱرۡجِعِ ٱلۡبَصَرَ كَرَّتَيۡنِ يَنقَلِبۡ إِلَيۡكَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ خَاسِئٗا وَهُوَ حَسِيرٞ
Then look again and yet again, your sight will return to you humbled and tired
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 4
وَلَقَدۡ زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا بِمَصَٰبِيحَ وَجَعَلۡنَٰهَا رُجُومٗا لِّلشَّيَٰطِينِۖ وَأَعۡتَدۡنَا لَهُمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلسَّعِيرِ
And verily We have adorned the heaven near [the earth] with lamps [stars and planets], and We have made it a stonewall for the devils [beyond which they cannot proceed]. And We have prepared for them punishment of the blazing Fire [Hell]
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 5
وَلِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِرَبِّهِمۡ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَۖ وَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ
And for those who suppress their belief in their Lord there is the punishment of Hell. And it is a bad journey's end
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 6
إِذَآ أُلۡقُواْ فِيهَا سَمِعُواْ لَهَا شَهِيقٗا وَهِيَ تَفُورُ
When they are flung therein they hear it roar as it boils up
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 7
تَكَادُ تَمَيَّزُ مِنَ ٱلۡغَيۡظِۖ كُلَّمَآ أُلۡقِيَ فِيهَا فَوۡجٞ سَأَلَهُمۡ خَزَنَتُهَآ أَلَمۡ يَأۡتِكُمۡ نَذِيرٞ
As if it [Hell] would burst with rage! Whenever a crowd [of wicked people] is thrown therein the wardens thereof ask them, "Had not anyone come to warn you
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 8
قَالُواْ بَلَىٰ قَدۡ جَآءَنَا نَذِيرٞ فَكَذَّبۡنَا وَقُلۡنَا مَا نَزَّلَ ٱللَّهُ مِن شَيۡءٍ إِنۡ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَٰلٖ كَبِيرٖ
They say, "Yes, verily, a warner did come to us, but we refused to believe him and said, `Allah has not sent down anything, you are not but under a great delusion
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 9
وَقَالُواْ لَوۡ كُنَّا نَسۡمَعُ أَوۡ نَعۡقِلُ مَا كُنَّا فِيٓ أَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ
And they say, "Had we but listened or had sense, we would not now have been among the dwellers in the blazing Fire
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 10
فَٱعۡتَرَفُواْ بِذَنۢبِهِمۡ فَسُحۡقٗا لِّأَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ
So they acknowledge their sins! And so the dwellers in the blazing Fire are done away with
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 11
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخۡشَوۡنَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلۡغَيۡبِ لَهُم مَّغۡفِرَةٞ وَأَجۡرٞ كَبِيرٞ
Those who fear their Lord without seeing Him — for them is forgiveness and a great reward
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 12
وَأَسِرُّواْ قَوۡلَكُمۡ أَوِ ٱجۡهَرُواْ بِهِۦٓۖ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمُۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ
And whether you conceal your opinion or proclaim it, He [Allah] does indeed know all that is in the minds
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 13
أَلَا يَعۡلَمُ مَنۡ خَلَقَ وَهُوَ ٱللَّطِيفُ ٱلۡخَبِيرُ
Would He not know what He created!? And He is the One Subtle, Aware
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 14
هُوَ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ ذَلُولٗا فَٱمۡشُواْ فِي مَنَاكِبِهَا وَكُلُواْ مِن رِّزۡقِهِۦۖ وَإِلَيۡهِ ٱلنُّشُورُ
He it is Who has made the earth subservient to you, so walk through its winding paths and eat of what He has provided for. And to Him will the Resurrection be
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 15
ءَأَمِنتُم مَّن فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ أَن يَخۡسِفَ بِكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَمُورُ
Are you sure that One in the heaven will not cause the earth to swallow you while it is in a state of convulsion
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 16
أَمۡ أَمِنتُم مَّن فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ أَن يُرۡسِلَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ حَاصِبٗاۖ فَسَتَعۡلَمُونَ كَيۡفَ نَذِيرِ
Or are you sure that the One in the heaven will not let loose on you a hurricane? But you shall soon know how terribly true My warning was
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 17
وَلَقَدۡ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ نَكِيرِ
And verily those before them refused to believe! And how severe in effect was My forsaking them
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 18
أَوَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ إِلَى ٱلطَّيۡرِ فَوۡقَهُمۡ صَـٰٓفَّـٰتٖ وَيَقۡبِضۡنَۚ مَا يُمۡسِكُهُنَّ إِلَّا ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِكُلِّ شَيۡءِۭ بَصِيرٌ
Do they not see the birds above them spreading and folding their wings? Holds them up none but the Gracious One! HE does indeed look to all things
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 19
أَمَّنۡ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِي هُوَ جُندٞ لَّكُمۡ يَنصُرُكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِۚ إِنِ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ إِلَّا فِي غُرُورٍ
Who is it — other than the Gracious One — that will be like an army to help you out? Those who suppress the Truth are labouring under nothing but illusion
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 20
أَمَّنۡ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِي يَرۡزُقُكُمۡ إِنۡ أَمۡسَكَ رِزۡقَهُۥۚ بَل لَّجُّواْ فِي عُتُوّٖ وَنُفُورٍ
Who is it that will provide for you if He should wit old His provision? Nay, but they are given to pride and aversion
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 21
أَفَمَن يَمۡشِي مُكِبًّا عَلَىٰ وَجۡهِهِۦٓ أَهۡدَىٰٓ أَمَّن يَمۡشِي سَوِيًّا عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٖ مُّسۡتَقِيمٖ
Is he who walks falling on his face [stumbling] better guided, or he who walks upright on a straight road
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 22
قُلۡ هُوَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنشَأَكُمۡ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرَ وَٱلۡأَفۡـِٔدَةَۚ قَلِيلٗا مَّا تَشۡكُرُونَ
Say, "He it is who has brought you into being, and has endowed you with the hearing, the sights and the intellect. But you are seldom grateful
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 23
قُلۡ هُوَ ٱلَّذِي ذَرَأَكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَإِلَيۡهِ تُحۡشَرُونَ
Say, "He it is Who multiplied you on the earth, and to Him you shall be gathered
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 24
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا ٱلۡوَعۡدُ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ
And they ask, "When will this promise be fulfilled, if what you say is true
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 25
قُلۡ إِنَّمَا ٱلۡعِلۡمُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَإِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٞ
Say, "That knowledge is only with Allah, and I am but a plain warner
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 26
فَلَمَّا رَأَوۡهُ زُلۡفَةٗ سِيٓـَٔتۡ وُجُوهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَقِيلَ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَدَّعُونَ
Then as they see it close to them [in the Hereafter], the faces of those who suppress the Truth will be distraught, and it will be said to them, "This is what you had been asking for
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 27
قُلۡ أَرَءَيۡتُمۡ إِنۡ أَهۡلَكَنِيَ ٱللَّهُ وَمَن مَّعِيَ أَوۡ رَحِمَنَا فَمَن يُجِيرُ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ مِنۡ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٖ
Say, "Do you see, whether Allah causes me (Muhammad) and those with me to perish or He bestows mercy upon us, [it is His Will?]. But, then, who will protect those who suppress the Truth from a painful punishment!?"h
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 28
قُلۡ هُوَ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ وَعَلَيۡهِ تَوَكَّلۡنَاۖ فَسَتَعۡلَمُونَ مَنۡ هُوَ فِي ضَلَٰلٖ مُّبِينٖ
Say, "He is the Gracious One. In Him we believe and in Him we put our trust. And you will soon know who is clearly astray
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 29
قُلۡ أَرَءَيۡتُمۡ إِنۡ أَصۡبَحَ مَآؤُكُمۡ غَوۡرٗا فَمَن يَأۡتِيكُم بِمَآءٖ مَّعِينِۭ
Say, "Do you see if your waters should sink deep into the ground, who then could bring you flowing water
Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 30
