Surah Al-Humaza - English Translation by Dr Kamal Omar
وَيۡلٞ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٖ لُّمَزَةٍ
Woe to every slanderer, backbiter
Surah Al-Humaza, Verse 1
ٱلَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالٗا وَعَدَّدَهُۥ
that who collected wealth and counted it
Surah Al-Humaza, Verse 2
يَحۡسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُۥٓ أَخۡلَدَهُۥ
He thinks that his wealth made him last for ever. [‘made’ is the literal translation of the Arabic word. It stands for ‘would make’]
Surah Al-Humaza, Verse 3
كَلَّاۖ لَيُنۢبَذَنَّ فِي ٱلۡحُطَمَةِ
By no means! Indeed he will be cast in Al-Hutamatah
Surah Al-Humaza, Verse 4
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡحُطَمَةُ
And what made you realise what Al-Hutamatah is
Surah Al-Humaza, Verse 5
نَارُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُوقَدَةُ
(It is the) Fire of Allah, kindled
Surah Al-Humaza, Verse 6
ٱلَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى ٱلۡأَفۡـِٔدَةِ
that which leaps over the hearts
Surah Al-Humaza, Verse 7
إِنَّهَا عَلَيۡهِم مُّؤۡصَدَةٞ
Surely, it shall be closed in on them (and made to cover and envelop them completely)
Surah Al-Humaza, Verse 8
فِي عَمَدٖ مُّمَدَّدَةِۭ
in (the form of) columns outstretched
Surah Al-Humaza, Verse 9
