Surah Al-Waqia - English Translation by Safi Ur Rahman Al Mubarakpuri
إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلۡوَاقِعَةُ
When the Waqi`ah occurs
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 1
لَيۡسَ لِوَقۡعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ
There is not, for its occurrence, Kadhibah
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 2
خَافِضَةٞ رَّافِعَةٌ
Bringing low (some), exalting (others)
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 3
إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ رَجّٗا
When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 4
وَبُسَّتِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ بَسّٗا
And the mountains will be powdered to dust
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 5
فَكَانَتۡ هَبَآءٗ مُّنۢبَثّٗا
So that they will become floating dust particles
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 6
وَكُنتُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجٗا ثَلَٰثَةٗ
And you (all) will be in three groups
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 7
فَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ مَآ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ
So those on the right -- how (fortunate) will be those on the right
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 8
وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ
And those on the left -- how (unfortunate) will be those on the left
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 9
وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ
And those foremost will be foremost
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 10
أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ
These will be the nearest (to Allah)
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 11
فِي جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
In the Gardens of Delight
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 12
ثُلَّةٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
A multitude of those will be from the first ones
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 13
وَقَلِيلٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ
And a few of those will be from the later ones
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 14
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مَّوۡضُونَةٖ
(They will be) on thrones, Mawdunah
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 15
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيۡهَا مُتَقَٰبِلِينَ
Reclining thereon, face to face
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 16
يَطُوفُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وِلۡدَٰنٞ مُّخَلَّدُونَ
Immortal boys will go around them (serving)
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 17
بِأَكۡوَابٖ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأۡسٖ مِّن مَّعِينٖ
With cups, and jugs, and a glass of flowing wine
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 18
لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنۡهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ
Wherefrom neither Yusadda`un nor Yunzifun
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 19
وَفَٰكِهَةٖ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ
And with fruit that they may choose
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 20
وَلَحۡمِ طَيۡرٖ مِّمَّا يَشۡتَهُونَ
And with the flesh of fowls that they desire
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 21
وَحُورٌ عِينٞ
And (there will be) Hur with wide lovely eyes
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 22
كَأَمۡثَٰلِ ٱللُّؤۡلُوِٕ ٱلۡمَكۡنُونِ
Like preserved pearls
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 23
جَزَآءَۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ
A reward for what they used to do
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 24
لَا يَسۡمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغۡوٗا وَلَا تَأۡثِيمًا
No Laghw (evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 25
إِلَّا قِيلٗا سَلَٰمٗا سَلَٰمٗا
But only the saying of: "Salaman! Salaman
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 26
وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡيَمِينِ مَآ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡيَمِينِ
And those on the right -- how (fortunate) will be those on the right
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 27
فِي سِدۡرٖ مَّخۡضُودٖ
(They will be) among Sidri Makhdud
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 28
وَطَلۡحٖ مَّنضُودٖ
And among Talh Mandud
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 29
وَظِلّٖ مَّمۡدُودٖ
And in shade Mamdud
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 30
وَمَآءٖ مَّسۡكُوبٖ
And by water flowing constantly
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 31
وَفَٰكِهَةٖ كَثِيرَةٖ
And fruit in plenty
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 32
لَّا مَقۡطُوعَةٖ وَلَا مَمۡنُوعَةٖ
Whose supply is not cut off nor are they out of reach
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 33
وَفُرُشٖ مَّرۡفُوعَةٍ
And on couches, raised high
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 34
إِنَّآ أَنشَأۡنَٰهُنَّ إِنشَآءٗ
Verily, We have created them a special creation
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 35
فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُنَّ أَبۡكَارًا
And made them virgins
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 36
عُرُبًا أَتۡرَابٗا
Urub, Atrab
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 37
لِّأَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلۡيَمِينِ
For those on the right
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 38
ثُلَّةٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
A multitude of those will be from the first generation
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 39
وَثُلَّةٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ
And a multitude of those will be from the later generations
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 40
وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ مَآ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ
And those on the left How will be those on the left
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 41
فِي سَمُومٖ وَحَمِيمٖ
In Samum, and Hamim
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 42
وَظِلّٖ مِّن يَحۡمُومٖ
And a shadow from Yahmum
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 43
لَّا بَارِدٖ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ
Neither Barid nor Karim
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 44
إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ قَبۡلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتۡرَفِينَ
Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 45
وَكَانُواْ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلۡحِنثِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
And were persisting in great sin
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 46
وَكَانُواْ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابٗا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ
And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 47
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ
And also our forefathers
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 48
قُلۡ إِنَّ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ وَٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ
Say: "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 49
لَمَجۡمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَٰتِ يَوۡمٖ مَّعۡلُومٖ
All will surely be gathered together for appointed meeting of a known Day
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 50
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمۡ أَيُّهَا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبُونَ
Then verily, --- you the erring -- ones, the deniers
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 51
لَأٓكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرٖ مِّن زَقُّومٖ
You verily, will eat of the trees of Zaqqum
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 52
فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنۡهَا ٱلۡبُطُونَ
Then you will fill your bellies therewith
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 53
فَشَٰرِبُونَ عَلَيۡهِ مِنَ ٱلۡحَمِيمِ
And drink the Hamim on top of it
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 54
فَشَٰرِبُونَ شُرۡبَ ٱلۡهِيمِ
And you will drink (that) like Al-Him
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 55
هَٰذَا نُزُلُهُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلدِّينِ
That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 56
نَحۡنُ خَلَقۡنَٰكُمۡ فَلَوۡلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ
We created you, then why do you believe not
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 57
أَفَرَءَيۡتُم مَّا تُمۡنُونَ
Do you not see the semen you emit
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 58
ءَأَنتُمۡ تَخۡلُقُونَهُۥٓ أَمۡ نَحۡنُ ٱلۡخَٰلِقُونَ
Is it you who create it, or are We the Creator
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 59
نَحۡنُ قَدَّرۡنَا بَيۡنَكُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَسۡبُوقِينَ
We have decreed death to you all, and We are not outstripped
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 60
عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمۡثَٰلَكُمۡ وَنُنشِئَكُمۡ فِي مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ
To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 61
وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡتُمُ ٱلنَّشۡأَةَ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ فَلَوۡلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
And indeed, you have already known the first form of creation, why then do you not remember
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 62
أَفَرَءَيۡتُم مَّا تَحۡرُثُونَ
Do you not see what you sow
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 63
ءَأَنتُمۡ تَزۡرَعُونَهُۥٓ أَمۡ نَحۡنُ ٱلزَّـٰرِعُونَ
Is it you that make it grow, or are We the Grower
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 64
لَوۡ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلۡنَٰهُ حُطَٰمٗا فَظَلۡتُمۡ تَفَكَّهُونَ
Were it Our will, We could crumble it to dry pieces, and you would be Tafakkahun
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 65
إِنَّا لَمُغۡرَمُونَ
(Saying:) "We are indeed Mughramun
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 66
بَلۡ نَحۡنُ مَحۡرُومُونَ
Nay, but we are deprived
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 67
أَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ ٱلۡمَآءَ ٱلَّذِي تَشۡرَبُونَ
Do you not see the water that you drink
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 68
ءَأَنتُمۡ أَنزَلۡتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلۡمُزۡنِ أَمۡ نَحۡنُ ٱلۡمُنزِلُونَ
Is it you who cause it to come down from Al-Muzn, or are We the Cause of it coming down
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 69
لَوۡ نَشَآءُ جَعَلۡنَٰهُ أُجَاجٗا فَلَوۡلَا تَشۡكُرُونَ
If We willed, We verily could make it salty; why then do you not give thanks
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 70
أَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِي تُورُونَ
Do you not see the fire which you kindle
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 71
ءَأَنتُمۡ أَنشَأۡتُمۡ شَجَرَتَهَآ أَمۡ نَحۡنُ ٱلۡمُنشِـُٔونَ
Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 72
نَحۡنُ جَعَلۡنَٰهَا تَذۡكِرَةٗ وَمَتَٰعٗا لِّلۡمُقۡوِينَ
We have made it a Reminder, and an article of use for the Muqwin
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 73
فَسَبِّحۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
Then glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 74
۞فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِمَوَٰقِعِ ٱلنُّجُومِ
Fala! I swear by the Mawaqi` of the stars
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 75
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمٞ لَّوۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ
And verily that is indeed a great oath, if you but know
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 76
إِنَّهُۥ لَقُرۡءَانٞ كَرِيمٞ
That (this) is indeed an honorable recitation
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 77
فِي كِتَٰبٖ مَّكۡنُونٖ
In a Book Maknun
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 78
لَّا يَمَسُّهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلۡمُطَهَّرُونَ
Which none touches but the pure ones
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 79
تَنزِيلٞ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
A revelation from the Lord of all that exists
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 80
أَفَبِهَٰذَا ٱلۡحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدۡهِنُونَ
Is it such a talk that you are Mudhinun
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 81
وَتَجۡعَلُونَ رِزۡقَكُمۡ أَنَّكُمۡ تُكَذِّبُونَ
And you make your provision your denial
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 82
فَلَوۡلَآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلۡحُلۡقُومَ
Then why do you not (intervene) when it reaches Al-Hulqum
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 83
وَأَنتُمۡ حِينَئِذٖ تَنظُرُونَ
And you at the moment are looking
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 84
وَنَحۡنُ أَقۡرَبُ إِلَيۡهِ مِنكُمۡ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تُبۡصِرُونَ
But We are nearer to him than you, but you see not
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 85
فَلَوۡلَآ إِن كُنتُمۡ غَيۡرَ مَدِينِينَ
Then why do you not -- if you are not Madinin
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 86
تَرۡجِعُونَهَآ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ
Return the soul, if you are truthful
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 87
فَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبِينَ
Then, if he be of the Muqarrabin
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 88
فَرَوۡحٞ وَرَيۡحَانٞ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٖ
Then Rawh, Rayhan and a Garden of Delights
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 89
وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنۡ أَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلۡيَمِينِ
And if he be of those on the right
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 90
فَسَلَٰمٞ لَّكَ مِنۡ أَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلۡيَمِينِ
Then Salam (peace) to you from those on the right
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 91
وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
But if he be of the denying, the erring
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 92
فَنُزُلٞ مِّنۡ حَمِيمٖ
Then for him is an entertainment with Hamim
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 93
وَتَصۡلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ
And entry in Hellfire
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 94
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ ٱلۡيَقِينِ
Verily, this! This is an absolute truth with certainty
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 95
فَسَبِّحۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
So, glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great
Surah Al-Waqia, Verse 96
