Surah Al-Muzzammil - English Translation by Rowwad Translation Center
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡمُزَّمِّلُ
O you the enwrapped one
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 1
قُمِ ٱلَّيۡلَ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗا
Stand up in prayer at night except a little
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 2
نِّصۡفَهُۥٓ أَوِ ٱنقُصۡ مِنۡهُ قَلِيلًا
half of it, or a little less
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 3
أَوۡ زِدۡ عَلَيۡهِ وَرَتِّلِ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ تَرۡتِيلًا
or a little more, and recite the Qur’an at a measured pace
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 4
إِنَّا سَنُلۡقِي عَلَيۡكَ قَوۡلٗا ثَقِيلًا
We will send down upon you a heavy revelation
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 5
إِنَّ نَاشِئَةَ ٱلَّيۡلِ هِيَ أَشَدُّ وَطۡـٔٗا وَأَقۡوَمُ قِيلًا
Indeed, prayer at night is more effective and more conducive to proper recitation
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 6
إِنَّ لَكَ فِي ٱلنَّهَارِ سَبۡحٗا طَوِيلٗا
In daytime, you have plenty of time for your worldly matters
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 7
وَٱذۡكُرِ ٱسۡمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلۡ إِلَيۡهِ تَبۡتِيلٗا
And remember the Name of your Lord, and devote yourself completely to Him
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 8
رَّبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقِ وَٱلۡمَغۡرِبِ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱتَّخِذۡهُ وَكِيلٗا
[He is] Lord of the east and the west; none has the right to be worshiped except Him, so take Him as Disposer of your affairs
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 9
وَٱصۡبِرۡ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱهۡجُرۡهُمۡ هَجۡرٗا جَمِيلٗا
Bear patiently what they say, and avoid them in a gracious manner
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 10
وَذَرۡنِي وَٱلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ أُوْلِي ٱلنَّعۡمَةِ وَمَهِّلۡهُمۡ قَلِيلًا
Leave to Me the deniers who are having a life of luxury, and bear with them for a little while
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 11
إِنَّ لَدَيۡنَآ أَنكَالٗا وَجَحِيمٗا
Indeed, We have heavy shackles and a Blazing Fire
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 12
وَطَعَامٗا ذَا غُصَّةٖ وَعَذَابًا أَلِيمٗا
and food that chokes, and a painful punishment
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 13
يَوۡمَ تَرۡجُفُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَٱلۡجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ كَثِيبٗا مَّهِيلًا
on the Day when the earth and the mountains will convulse, and the mountains will be like dunes of loose sand
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 14
إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَآ إِلَيۡكُمۡ رَسُولٗا شَٰهِدًا عَلَيۡكُمۡ كَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ رَسُولٗا
Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger to be a witness over you, just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 15
فَعَصَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَأَخَذۡنَٰهُ أَخۡذٗا وَبِيلٗا
But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a severe punishment
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 16
فَكَيۡفَ تَتَّقُونَ إِن كَفَرۡتُمۡ يَوۡمٗا يَجۡعَلُ ٱلۡوِلۡدَٰنَ شِيبًا
If you disbelieve, then how will you protect yourselves against a Day that will turn children’s hair gray
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 17
ٱلسَّمَآءُ مُنفَطِرُۢ بِهِۦۚ كَانَ وَعۡدُهُۥ مَفۡعُولًا
It will cause the sky to break asunder. His promise will certainly be fulfilled
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 18
إِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦ تَذۡكِرَةٞۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا
Indeed, this is a reminder; so whoever wills may take a way to his Lord
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 19
۞إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَعۡلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَقُومُ أَدۡنَىٰ مِن ثُلُثَيِ ٱلَّيۡلِ وَنِصۡفَهُۥ وَثُلُثَهُۥ وَطَآئِفَةٞ مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَعَكَۚ وَٱللَّهُ يُقَدِّرُ ٱلَّيۡلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَۚ عَلِمَ أَن لَّن تُحۡصُوهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيۡكُمۡۖ فَٱقۡرَءُواْ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانِۚ عَلِمَ أَن سَيَكُونُ مِنكُم مَّرۡضَىٰ وَءَاخَرُونَ يَضۡرِبُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ يَبۡتَغُونَ مِن فَضۡلِ ٱللَّهِ وَءَاخَرُونَ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِۖ فَٱقۡرَءُواْ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنۡهُۚ وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَقۡرِضُواْ ٱللَّهَ قَرۡضًا حَسَنٗاۚ وَمَا تُقَدِّمُواْ لِأَنفُسِكُم مِّنۡ خَيۡرٖ تَجِدُوهُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ هُوَ خَيۡرٗا وَأَعۡظَمَ أَجۡرٗاۚ وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ ٱللَّهَۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمُۢ
Indeed, your Lord knows that you [O Prophet] stand up in prayer for nearly two-thirds of the night, or half of it, or one-third of it, as do others among your companions. Allah determines the night and the day; He knows that you [Muslims] cannot keep an accurate count of it, so He pardoned you. Recite then as much of the Qur’an as is easy for you [in the night prayers]. He knows that there are some among you who will be ill, and others traveling in the land, seeking the grace of Allah, and others fighting in Allah’s way. So recite as much of it as is easy for you; establish prayer and give zakah; and lend to Allah a goodly loan. Whatever good you send forth for yourselves, you will find it with Allah, much better in condition and much greater in reward. And seek forgiveness of Allah, for indeed Allah is All-Forgiving, Most-Merciful
Surah Al-Muzzammil, Verse 20
