Surah Al-fil - English Translation by Shabbir Ahmed
أَلَمۡ تَرَ كَيۡفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلۡفِيلِ
Are you not aware of how your Lord dealt with the Army of the Elephant
Surah Al-fil, Verse 1
أَلَمۡ يَجۡعَلۡ كَيۡدَهُمۡ فِي تَضۡلِيلٖ
Did He not bring their strategy to utter failure
Surah Al-fil, Verse 2
وَأَرۡسَلَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ طَيۡرًا أَبَابِيلَ
And sent upon them swarms of flying creatures
Surah Al-fil, Verse 3
تَرۡمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٖ مِّن سِجِّيلٖ
Then you showered them with hard stones earmarked with requital. ('Sijjil' = Inscribed = Marked out)
Surah Al-fil, Verse 4
فَجَعَلَهُمۡ كَعَصۡفٖ مَّأۡكُولِۭ
And made them like a field of grain eaten down to stubble
