Surah Qaf - English Translation by Safi Ur Rahman Al Mubarakpuri

قٓۚ وَٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ ٱلۡمَجِيدِ

Qaf. By the Glorious Qur'an
Surah Qaf, Verse 1

بَلۡ عَجِبُوٓاْ أَن جَآءَهُم مُّنذِرٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ فَقَالَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ هَٰذَا شَيۡءٌ عَجِيبٌ

Nay, they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves. So the disbelievers say: "This is a strange thing
Surah Qaf, Verse 2

أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابٗاۖ ذَٰلِكَ رَجۡعُۢ بَعِيدٞ

When we are dead and have become dust. (Shall we be resurrected) That is a far return
Surah Qaf, Verse 3

قَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا مَا تَنقُصُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ مِنۡهُمۡۖ وَعِندَنَا كِتَٰبٌ حَفِيظُۢ

We know that which the earth takes of them, and with Us is a Book preserved
Surah Qaf, Verse 4

بَلۡ كَذَّبُواْ بِٱلۡحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمۡ فَهُمۡ فِيٓ أَمۡرٖ مَّرِيجٍ

Nay, but they have denied the truth when it has come to them, so they are in a Marij state
Surah Qaf, Verse 5

أَفَلَمۡ يَنظُرُوٓاْ إِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَوۡقَهُمۡ كَيۡفَ بَنَيۡنَٰهَا وَزَيَّنَّـٰهَا وَمَا لَهَا مِن فُرُوجٖ

Have they not looked at the heaven above them, how We have made it and adorned it, and there are no Furuj in it
Surah Qaf, Verse 6

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَدَدۡنَٰهَا وَأَلۡقَيۡنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجِۭ بَهِيجٖ

And the earth! We have spread it out, and set thereon Rawasi standing firm, and We planted in it every lovely (Bahij) pair
Surah Qaf, Verse 7

تَبۡصِرَةٗ وَذِكۡرَىٰ لِكُلِّ عَبۡدٖ مُّنِيبٖ

An insight and a Reminder for every servant who turns to Allah in repentance
Surah Qaf, Verse 8

وَنَزَّلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ مُّبَٰرَكٗا فَأَنۢبَتۡنَا بِهِۦ جَنَّـٰتٖ وَحَبَّ ٱلۡحَصِيدِ

And We send down blessed water (rain) from the sky, then We produce therewith Jannat and grain that are reaped
Surah Qaf, Verse 9

وَٱلنَّخۡلَ بَاسِقَٰتٖ لَّهَا طَلۡعٞ نَّضِيدٞ

And date palms Basiqat, with arranged clusters
Surah Qaf, Verse 10

رِّزۡقٗا لِّلۡعِبَادِۖ وَأَحۡيَيۡنَا بِهِۦ بَلۡدَةٗ مَّيۡتٗاۚ كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡخُرُوجُ

A provision for the servants. And We give life therewith to a dead land. Thus will be the Resurrection
Surah Qaf, Verse 11

كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحٖ وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلرَّسِّ وَثَمُودُ

Denied before them the people of Nuh, and the Dwellers of Rass, and Thamud
Surah Qaf, Verse 12

وَعَادٞ وَفِرۡعَوۡنُ وَإِخۡوَٰنُ لُوطٖ

And `Ad, and Fir`awn, and the brethren of Lut
Surah Qaf, Verse 13

وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡأَيۡكَةِ وَقَوۡمُ تُبَّعٖۚ كُلّٞ كَذَّبَ ٱلرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ وَعِيدِ

And the Dwellers of Al-Aykah, and the people of Tubba`. Everyone of them denied (their) Messengers, so My threat took effect
Surah Qaf, Verse 14

أَفَعَيِينَا بِٱلۡخَلۡقِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِۚ بَلۡ هُمۡ فِي لَبۡسٖ مِّنۡ خَلۡقٖ جَدِيدٖ

Were We then tired with the first creation Nay, they are in confused doubt about a new creation
Surah Qaf, Verse 15

وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ وَنَعۡلَمُ مَا تُوَسۡوِسُ بِهِۦ نَفۡسُهُۥۖ وَنَحۡنُ أَقۡرَبُ إِلَيۡهِ مِنۡ حَبۡلِ ٱلۡوَرِيدِ

And indeed We have created man, and We know what his self whispers to him. And We are nearer to him than his jugular vein
Surah Qaf, Verse 16

إِذۡ يَتَلَقَّى ٱلۡمُتَلَقِّيَانِ عَنِ ٱلۡيَمِينِ وَعَنِ ٱلشِّمَالِ قَعِيدٞ

(Remember) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being), one sitting on the right and one on the left
Surah Qaf, Verse 17

مَّا يَلۡفِظُ مِن قَوۡلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيۡهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٞ

Not a word does he (or she) utter but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it)
Surah Qaf, Verse 18

وَجَآءَتۡ سَكۡرَةُ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ بِٱلۡحَقِّۖ ذَٰلِكَ مَا كُنتَ مِنۡهُ تَحِيدُ

And the stupor of death will come in truth: "This is what you have been avoiding
Surah Qaf, Verse 19

وَنُفِخَ فِي ٱلصُّورِۚ ذَٰلِكَ يَوۡمُ ٱلۡوَعِيدِ

And the Trumpet will be blown -- that will be the Day of the threat
Surah Qaf, Verse 20

وَجَآءَتۡ كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ مَّعَهَا سَآئِقٞ وَشَهِيدٞ

And every person will come forth along with a Sa'iq and a Shahid
Surah Qaf, Verse 21

لَّقَدۡ كُنتَ فِي غَفۡلَةٖ مِّنۡ هَٰذَا فَكَشَفۡنَا عَنكَ غِطَآءَكَ فَبَصَرُكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ حَدِيدٞ

(It will be said to the sinners): "Indeed you were heedless of this. Now We have removed from you, your covering, and sharp is your sight this Day
Surah Qaf, Verse 22

وَقَالَ قَرِينُهُۥ هَٰذَا مَا لَدَيَّ عَتِيدٌ

And his companion (angel) will say: "Here is (his record) ready with me
Surah Qaf, Verse 23

أَلۡقِيَا فِي جَهَنَّمَ كُلَّ كَفَّارٍ عَنِيدٖ

(Allah will say to the angels:) "Both of you throw into Hell every stubborn disbeliever
Surah Qaf, Verse 24

مَّنَّاعٖ لِّلۡخَيۡرِ مُعۡتَدٖ مُّرِيبٍ

Hinderer of good, transgressor, doubter
Surah Qaf, Verse 25

ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَأَلۡقِيَاهُ فِي ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلشَّدِيدِ

Who set up another god with Allah. Then both of you cast him in the severe torment
Surah Qaf, Verse 26

۞قَالَ قَرِينُهُۥ رَبَّنَا مَآ أَطۡغَيۡتُهُۥ وَلَٰكِن كَانَ فِي ضَلَٰلِۭ بَعِيدٖ

His companion (devil) will say: "Our Lord! I did not push him to transgression, but he was himself in error far astray
Surah Qaf, Verse 27

قَالَ لَا تَخۡتَصِمُواْ لَدَيَّ وَقَدۡ قَدَّمۡتُ إِلَيۡكُم بِٱلۡوَعِيدِ

(Allah) will say: "Dispute not in front of Me, I had already in advance sent you the threat
Surah Qaf, Verse 28

مَا يُبَدَّلُ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ لَدَيَّ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ بِظَلَّـٰمٖ لِّلۡعَبِيدِ

The sentence that comes from Me cannot be changed, and I am not unjust to the servants
Surah Qaf, Verse 29

يَوۡمَ نَقُولُ لِجَهَنَّمَ هَلِ ٱمۡتَلَأۡتِ وَتَقُولُ هَلۡ مِن مَّزِيدٖ

On the Day when We will say to Hell: "Are you filled" It will say: "Are there any more
Surah Qaf, Verse 30

وَأُزۡلِفَتِ ٱلۡجَنَّةُ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ غَيۡرَ بَعِيدٍ

And Paradise will be Uzlifat to those who had Taqwa, not far off
Surah Qaf, Verse 31

هَٰذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِكُلِّ أَوَّابٍ حَفِيظٖ

(It will be said): "This is what you were promised -- (it is) for those returning in sincere repentance, and Hafiz
Surah Qaf, Verse 32

مَّنۡ خَشِيَ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنَ بِٱلۡغَيۡبِ وَجَآءَ بِقَلۡبٖ مُّنِيبٍ

Who feared Ar-Rahman unseen and brought a heart turned in repentance
Surah Qaf, Verse 33

ٱدۡخُلُوهَا بِسَلَٰمٖۖ ذَٰلِكَ يَوۡمُ ٱلۡخُلُودِ

Enter you therein in peace and security -- this is a Day of eternal life
Surah Qaf, Verse 34

لَهُم مَّا يَشَآءُونَ فِيهَا وَلَدَيۡنَا مَزِيدٞ

There they will have all that they desire -- and We have more
Surah Qaf, Verse 35

وَكَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا قَبۡلَهُم مِّن قَرۡنٍ هُمۡ أَشَدُّ مِنۡهُم بَطۡشٗا فَنَقَّبُواْ فِي ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ هَلۡ مِن مَّحِيصٍ

And how many a generation We have destroyed before them who were stronger in power than they. And they went about the land! Could they find any place of refuge
Surah Qaf, Verse 36

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَذِكۡرَىٰ لِمَن كَانَ لَهُۥ قَلۡبٌ أَوۡ أَلۡقَى ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَهُوَ شَهِيدٞ

Verily, therein is indeed a reminder for him who has a heart or gives ear while he is heedful
Surah Qaf, Verse 37

وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٖ وَمَا مَسَّنَا مِن لُّغُوبٖ

And indeed We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in six Days and nothing of fatigue touched Us
Surah Qaf, Verse 38

فَٱصۡبِرۡ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ قَبۡلَ طُلُوعِ ٱلشَّمۡسِ وَقَبۡلَ ٱلۡغُرُوبِ

So bear with patience all that they say, and glorify the praises of your Lord, before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting
Surah Qaf, Verse 39

وَمِنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ فَسَبِّحۡهُ وَأَدۡبَٰرَ ٱلسُّجُودِ

And during a part of the night (also) glorify His praises and (so likewise) after the prostrations
Surah Qaf, Verse 40

وَٱسۡتَمِعۡ يَوۡمَ يُنَادِ ٱلۡمُنَادِ مِن مَّكَانٖ قَرِيبٖ

And listen on the Day when the caller will call from a near place
Surah Qaf, Verse 41

يَوۡمَ يَسۡمَعُونَ ٱلصَّيۡحَةَ بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ ذَٰلِكَ يَوۡمُ ٱلۡخُرُوجِ

The Day when they will hear As-Sayhah in truth, that will be the Day of coming out
Surah Qaf, Verse 42

إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نُحۡيِۦ وَنُمِيتُ وَإِلَيۡنَا ٱلۡمَصِيرُ

Verily, it is We Who give life and cause death; and to Us is the final return
Surah Qaf, Verse 43

يَوۡمَ تَشَقَّقُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ عَنۡهُمۡ سِرَاعٗاۚ ذَٰلِكَ حَشۡرٌ عَلَيۡنَا يَسِيرٞ

On the Day when the earth shall be cleft, from off them (they will come out) hastening forth. That will be a gathering, quite easy for Us
Surah Qaf, Verse 44
