Surah Qaf - English Translation by The Monotheist Group Edition
قٓۚ وَٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ ٱلۡمَجِيدِ
Q, and the Quran of glory
Surah Qaf, Verse 1
بَلۡ عَجِبُوٓاْ أَن جَآءَهُم مُّنذِرٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ فَقَالَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ هَٰذَا شَيۡءٌ عَجِيبٌ
Are they surprised that a warner has come to them from amongst them, so the rejecters said: "This is something strange
Surah Qaf, Verse 2
أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابٗاۖ ذَٰلِكَ رَجۡعُۢ بَعِيدٞ
Can it be that when we are dead and we become dust, that we come back later
Surah Qaf, Verse 3
قَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا مَا تَنقُصُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ مِنۡهُمۡۖ وَعِندَنَا كِتَٰبٌ حَفِيظُۢ
We know which of them has become consumed with the Earth; and We have with Us a record which keeps track
Surah Qaf, Verse 4
بَلۡ كَذَّبُواْ بِٱلۡحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمۡ فَهُمۡ فِيٓ أَمۡرٖ مَّرِيجٍ
But they denied the truth when it came to them, so they are in a confused state
Surah Qaf, Verse 5
أَفَلَمۡ يَنظُرُوٓاْ إِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَوۡقَهُمۡ كَيۡفَ بَنَيۡنَٰهَا وَزَيَّنَّـٰهَا وَمَا لَهَا مِن فُرُوجٖ
Did they not look to the sky above them, how We built it, and adorned it, and how it has no openings
Surah Qaf, Verse 6
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَدَدۡنَٰهَا وَأَلۡقَيۡنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجِۭ بَهِيجٖ
And the land We extended it, and placed in it stabilizers, and We gave growth in it to every kind of healthy pair
Surah Qaf, Verse 7
تَبۡصِرَةٗ وَذِكۡرَىٰ لِكُلِّ عَبۡدٖ مُّنِيبٖ
Something to see and a reminder for every pious servant
Surah Qaf, Verse 8
وَنَزَّلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ مُّبَٰرَكٗا فَأَنۢبَتۡنَا بِهِۦ جَنَّـٰتٖ وَحَبَّ ٱلۡحَصِيدِ
And We sent down from the sky blessed water, and We gave growth with it to gardens and grain that is harvested
Surah Qaf, Verse 9
وَٱلنَّخۡلَ بَاسِقَٰتٖ لَّهَا طَلۡعٞ نَّضِيدٞ
And the palm trees, emerging with clustering fruit
Surah Qaf, Verse 10
رِّزۡقٗا لِّلۡعِبَادِۖ وَأَحۡيَيۡنَا بِهِۦ بَلۡدَةٗ مَّيۡتٗاۚ كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡخُرُوجُ
A provision for the servants, and We gave life with it to the land which was dead. Such is the resurrection
Surah Qaf, Verse 11
كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحٖ وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلرَّسِّ وَثَمُودُ
Before their denial was that of the people of Noah, and the dwellers of Al-Raas, and Thamud
Surah Qaf, Verse 12
وَعَادٞ وَفِرۡعَوۡنُ وَإِخۡوَٰنُ لُوطٖ
And 'Aad, and Pharaoh, and the brethren of Lot
Surah Qaf, Verse 13
وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡأَيۡكَةِ وَقَوۡمُ تُبَّعٖۚ كُلّٞ كَذَّبَ ٱلرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ وَعِيدِ
And the people of the forest, and the people of Tubba`. All of them disbelieved the messengers, so the promise came to pass
Surah Qaf, Verse 14
أَفَعَيِينَا بِٱلۡخَلۡقِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِۚ بَلۡ هُمۡ فِي لَبۡسٖ مِّنۡ خَلۡقٖ جَدِيدٖ
Did We have any difficulty in making the first creation No, they are in confusion about the next creation
Surah Qaf, Verse 15
وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ وَنَعۡلَمُ مَا تُوَسۡوِسُ بِهِۦ نَفۡسُهُۥۖ وَنَحۡنُ أَقۡرَبُ إِلَيۡهِ مِنۡ حَبۡلِ ٱلۡوَرِيدِ
And We have created man and We know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than his jugular vein
Surah Qaf, Verse 16
إِذۡ يَتَلَقَّى ٱلۡمُتَلَقِّيَانِ عَنِ ٱلۡيَمِينِ وَعَنِ ٱلشِّمَالِ قَعِيدٞ
When the two receivers meet on the right and on the left
Surah Qaf, Verse 17
مَّا يَلۡفِظُ مِن قَوۡلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيۡهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٞ
He does not utter a word except with having a constant recorder
Surah Qaf, Verse 18
وَجَآءَتۡ سَكۡرَةُ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ بِٱلۡحَقِّۖ ذَٰلِكَ مَا كُنتَ مِنۡهُ تَحِيدُ
And the moment of death came in truth: "This is what you have been trying to avoid
Surah Qaf, Verse 19
وَنُفِخَ فِي ٱلصُّورِۚ ذَٰلِكَ يَوۡمُ ٱلۡوَعِيدِ
And the horn is blown on the promised Day
Surah Qaf, Verse 20
وَجَآءَتۡ كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ مَّعَهَا سَآئِقٞ وَشَهِيدٞ
And every soul is brought, being driven, and with a witness
Surah Qaf, Verse 21
لَّقَدۡ كُنتَ فِي غَفۡلَةٖ مِّنۡ هَٰذَا فَكَشَفۡنَا عَنكَ غِطَآءَكَ فَبَصَرُكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ حَدِيدٞ
You were heedless of this, so now We have removed your veil, and your sight today is iron
Surah Qaf, Verse 22
وَقَالَ قَرِينُهُۥ هَٰذَا مَا لَدَيَّ عَتِيدٌ
And his constant companion said: "Here is one who is a transgressor
Surah Qaf, Verse 23
أَلۡقِيَا فِي جَهَنَّمَ كُلَّ كَفَّارٍ عَنِيدٖ
Cast in Hell every stubborn rejecter
Surah Qaf, Verse 24
مَّنَّاعٖ لِّلۡخَيۡرِ مُعۡتَدٖ مُّرِيبٍ
Denier of good, transgressor, doubter
Surah Qaf, Verse 25
ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَأَلۡقِيَاهُ فِي ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلشَّدِيدِ
The one who made with God another god. So cast him into the severe retribution
Surah Qaf, Verse 26
۞قَالَ قَرِينُهُۥ رَبَّنَا مَآ أَطۡغَيۡتُهُۥ وَلَٰكِن كَانَ فِي ضَلَٰلِۭ بَعِيدٖ
His constant companion said: "Our Lord, I did not corrupt him, but he was already far astray
Surah Qaf, Verse 27
قَالَ لَا تَخۡتَصِمُواْ لَدَيَّ وَقَدۡ قَدَّمۡتُ إِلَيۡكُم بِٱلۡوَعِيدِ
He said: "Do not argue with each other before Me, I have already presented you with My promise
Surah Qaf, Verse 28
مَا يُبَدَّلُ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ لَدَيَّ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ بِظَلَّـٰمٖ لِّلۡعَبِيدِ
The sentence will not be changed with Me, and I do not wrong the servants
Surah Qaf, Verse 29
يَوۡمَ نَقُولُ لِجَهَنَّمَ هَلِ ٱمۡتَلَأۡتِ وَتَقُولُ هَلۡ مِن مَّزِيدٖ
The Day We say to Hell: "Are you full", and it says: "I can take more
Surah Qaf, Verse 30
وَأُزۡلِفَتِ ٱلۡجَنَّةُ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ غَيۡرَ بَعِيدٍ
And Paradise is brought near to the righteous, not far off
Surah Qaf, Verse 31
هَٰذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِكُلِّ أَوَّابٍ حَفِيظٖ
This is what you have been promised, for every obedient, steadfast
Surah Qaf, Verse 32
مَّنۡ خَشِيَ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنَ بِٱلۡغَيۡبِ وَجَآءَ بِقَلۡبٖ مُّنِيبٍ
The one who feared the Almighty while unseen, and came with a repenting heart
Surah Qaf, Verse 33
ٱدۡخُلُوهَا بِسَلَٰمٖۖ ذَٰلِكَ يَوۡمُ ٱلۡخُلُودِ
Enter it in peace. This is the Day of eternal life
Surah Qaf, Verse 34
لَهُم مَّا يَشَآءُونَ فِيهَا وَلَدَيۡنَا مَزِيدٞ
In it they will have what they wish, and We have even more
Surah Qaf, Verse 35
وَكَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا قَبۡلَهُم مِّن قَرۡنٍ هُمۡ أَشَدُّ مِنۡهُم بَطۡشٗا فَنَقَّبُواْ فِي ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ هَلۡ مِن مَّحِيصٍ
And how many a generation before them have We destroyed They were stronger in power, and they had dominated the land. Did they find any sanctuary
Surah Qaf, Verse 36
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَذِكۡرَىٰ لِمَن كَانَ لَهُۥ قَلۡبٌ أَوۡ أَلۡقَى ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَهُوَ شَهِيدٞ
In that is a reminder for whoever has a heart, or cares to listen while he is heedful
Surah Qaf, Verse 37
وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٖ وَمَا مَسَّنَا مِن لُّغُوبٖ
And We have created the heavens and the Earth and what is between them in six days, and no fatigue touched Us
Surah Qaf, Verse 38
فَٱصۡبِرۡ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ قَبۡلَ طُلُوعِ ٱلشَّمۡسِ وَقَبۡلَ ٱلۡغُرُوبِ
So be patient to what they are saying, and glorify the grace of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before the setting
Surah Qaf, Verse 39
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ فَسَبِّحۡهُ وَأَدۡبَٰرَ ٱلسُّجُودِ
And from the night glorify Him, and after prostrating
Surah Qaf, Verse 40
وَٱسۡتَمِعۡ يَوۡمَ يُنَادِ ٱلۡمُنَادِ مِن مَّكَانٖ قَرِيبٖ
And listen to the Day when the caller will call from a near place
Surah Qaf, Verse 41
يَوۡمَ يَسۡمَعُونَ ٱلصَّيۡحَةَ بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ ذَٰلِكَ يَوۡمُ ٱلۡخُرُوجِ
The Day they hear the scream with truth. That is the Day of coming out
Surah Qaf, Verse 42
إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نُحۡيِۦ وَنُمِيتُ وَإِلَيۡنَا ٱلۡمَصِيرُ
We are the Ones who give life and bring death, and to Us is the destiny
Surah Qaf, Verse 43
يَوۡمَ تَشَقَّقُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ عَنۡهُمۡ سِرَاعٗاۚ ذَٰلِكَ حَشۡرٌ عَلَيۡنَا يَسِيرٞ
The Day when the Earth will rapidly crumble away from them; that will be a gathering which is easy for Us
Surah Qaf, Verse 44
نَّحۡنُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا يَقُولُونَۖ وَمَآ أَنتَ عَلَيۡهِم بِجَبَّارٖۖ فَذَكِّرۡ بِٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ مَن يَخَافُ وَعِيدِ
We are totally aware of what they say, and you are not to be a tyrant over them. So remind with the Quran those who fear My promise
Surah Qaf, Verse 45
