Surah Qaf - English Translation by The Study Quran
قٓۚ وَٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ ٱلۡمَجِيدِ
Qaf. By the glorious Quran
Surah Qaf, Verse 1
بَلۡ عَجِبُوٓاْ أَن جَآءَهُم مُّنذِرٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ فَقَالَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ هَٰذَا شَيۡءٌ عَجِيبٌ
nay, but they marvel that a warner has come unto them from among their own; so the disbelievers say, “This is an astounding thing
Surah Qaf, Verse 2
أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابٗاۖ ذَٰلِكَ رَجۡعُۢ بَعِيدٞ
What! When we are dead and have become dust? That is a far-fetched return!”
Surah Qaf, Verse 3
قَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا مَا تَنقُصُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ مِنۡهُمۡۖ وَعِندَنَا كِتَٰبٌ حَفِيظُۢ
Well do We know what the earth diminishes from them, and with Us there is a preserving Book
Surah Qaf, Verse 4
بَلۡ كَذَّبُواْ بِٱلۡحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمۡ فَهُمۡ فِيٓ أَمۡرٖ مَّرِيجٍ
Nay, they denied the truth when it came unto them; so they are now in a confounded situation
Surah Qaf, Verse 5
أَفَلَمۡ يَنظُرُوٓاْ إِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَوۡقَهُمۡ كَيۡفَ بَنَيۡنَٰهَا وَزَيَّنَّـٰهَا وَمَا لَهَا مِن فُرُوجٖ
Have they not looked upon the sky above them, how We built it and adorned it, and [how it] has no rifts
Surah Qaf, Verse 6
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَدَدۡنَٰهَا وَأَلۡقَيۡنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجِۭ بَهِيجٖ
The earth We spread out, and cast therein firm mountains, and caused every delightful kind to grow therein
Surah Qaf, Verse 7
تَبۡصِرَةٗ وَذِكۡرَىٰ لِكُلِّ عَبۡدٖ مُّنِيبٖ
as a source of insight and a reminder for every penitent servant
Surah Qaf, Verse 8
وَنَزَّلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ مُّبَٰرَكٗا فَأَنۢبَتۡنَا بِهِۦ جَنَّـٰتٖ وَحَبَّ ٱلۡحَصِيدِ
And We sent down blessed water from the sky whereby We grew gardens and the harvested grain
Surah Qaf, Verse 9
وَٱلنَّخۡلَ بَاسِقَٰتٖ لَّهَا طَلۡعٞ نَّضِيدٞ
and the date palms towering with layered spathes
Surah Qaf, Verse 10
رِّزۡقٗا لِّلۡعِبَادِۖ وَأَحۡيَيۡنَا بِهِۦ بَلۡدَةٗ مَّيۡتٗاۚ كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡخُرُوجُ
as provision for His servants. And We revive a dead land therewith—likewise shall be the coming forth
Surah Qaf, Verse 11
كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحٖ وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلرَّسِّ وَثَمُودُ
Before them the people of Noah, the inhabitants of al-Rass, and Thamud denied
Surah Qaf, Verse 12
وَعَادٞ وَفِرۡعَوۡنُ وَإِخۡوَٰنُ لُوطٖ
as did ?Ad, Pharaoh, and the brethren of Lot
Surah Qaf, Verse 13
وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡأَيۡكَةِ وَقَوۡمُ تُبَّعٖۚ كُلّٞ كَذَّبَ ٱلرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ وَعِيدِ
the inhabitants of the thicket, and the people of Tubba?—each denied the messengers; so My Threat came due
Surah Qaf, Verse 14
أَفَعَيِينَا بِٱلۡخَلۡقِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِۚ بَلۡ هُمۡ فِي لَبۡسٖ مِّنۡ خَلۡقٖ جَدِيدٖ
Did We then weary in the first creation? Nay, but they are in doubt regarding a new creation
Surah Qaf, Verse 15
وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ وَنَعۡلَمُ مَا تُوَسۡوِسُ بِهِۦ نَفۡسُهُۥۖ وَنَحۡنُ أَقۡرَبُ إِلَيۡهِ مِنۡ حَبۡلِ ٱلۡوَرِيدِ
We did indeed create man, and We know what his soul whispers to him; and We are nearer to him than his jugular vein
Surah Qaf, Verse 16
إِذۡ يَتَلَقَّى ٱلۡمُتَلَقِّيَانِ عَنِ ٱلۡيَمِينِ وَعَنِ ٱلشِّمَالِ قَعِيدٞ
When the two receivers receive, seated on the right and on the left
Surah Qaf, Verse 17
مَّا يَلۡفِظُ مِن قَوۡلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيۡهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٞ
no word does he utter without a ready watcher beside him
Surah Qaf, Verse 18
وَجَآءَتۡ سَكۡرَةُ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ بِٱلۡحَقِّۖ ذَٰلِكَ مَا كُنتَ مِنۡهُ تَحِيدُ
And the agony of death comes with the truth. That is what you were avoiding
Surah Qaf, Verse 19
وَنُفِخَ فِي ٱلصُّورِۚ ذَٰلِكَ يَوۡمُ ٱلۡوَعِيدِ
And the trumpet is blown. That is the Day of the Threat
Surah Qaf, Verse 20
وَجَآءَتۡ كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ مَّعَهَا سَآئِقٞ وَشَهِيدٞ
Then every soul comes, with it a driver and a witness
Surah Qaf, Verse 21
لَّقَدۡ كُنتَ فِي غَفۡلَةٖ مِّنۡ هَٰذَا فَكَشَفۡنَا عَنكَ غِطَآءَكَ فَبَصَرُكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ حَدِيدٞ
“You were indeed heedless of this. Now We have removed from you your cover; so today your sight is piercing.”
Surah Qaf, Verse 22
وَقَالَ قَرِينُهُۥ هَٰذَا مَا لَدَيَّ عَتِيدٌ
And his companion says, “This is what I have ready.”
Surah Qaf, Verse 23
أَلۡقِيَا فِي جَهَنَّمَ كُلَّ كَفَّارٍ عَنِيدٖ
“Cast you both into Hell every stubborn disbeliever
Surah Qaf, Verse 24
مَّنَّاعٖ لِّلۡخَيۡرِ مُعۡتَدٖ مُّرِيبٍ
every hinderer of good, every transgressor, every doubter
Surah Qaf, Verse 25
ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَأَلۡقِيَاهُ فِي ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلشَّدِيدِ
who has set up another god along with God. Cast him into the severe punishment.”
Surah Qaf, Verse 26
۞قَالَ قَرِينُهُۥ رَبَّنَا مَآ أَطۡغَيۡتُهُۥ وَلَٰكِن كَانَ فِي ضَلَٰلِۭ بَعِيدٖ
His companion will say, “Our Lord, I did not make him rebel; rather, he was far astray.”
Surah Qaf, Verse 27
قَالَ لَا تَخۡتَصِمُواْ لَدَيَّ وَقَدۡ قَدَّمۡتُ إِلَيۡكُم بِٱلۡوَعِيدِ
He will say, “Dispute not before Me, since I have already presented unto you the Threat
Surah Qaf, Verse 28
مَا يُبَدَّلُ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ لَدَيَّ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ بِظَلَّـٰمٖ لِّلۡعَبِيدِ
With Me the Word is not changed, and I do not wrong My servants.”
Surah Qaf, Verse 29
يَوۡمَ نَقُولُ لِجَهَنَّمَ هَلِ ٱمۡتَلَأۡتِ وَتَقُولُ هَلۡ مِن مَّزِيدٖ
That Day We shall say to Hell, “Have you been filled?” And it will say, “Is there more?”
Surah Qaf, Verse 30
وَأُزۡلِفَتِ ٱلۡجَنَّةُ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ غَيۡرَ بَعِيدٍ
And the Garden will be brought nigh unto the reverent, not distant
Surah Qaf, Verse 31
هَٰذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِكُلِّ أَوَّابٍ حَفِيظٖ
“This is what is promised for every oft turning keeper
Surah Qaf, Verse 32
مَّنۡ خَشِيَ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنَ بِٱلۡغَيۡبِ وَجَآءَ بِقَلۡبٖ مُّنِيبٍ
who fears the Compassionate unseen and comes with a penitent heart
Surah Qaf, Verse 33
ٱدۡخُلُوهَا بِسَلَٰمٖۖ ذَٰلِكَ يَوۡمُ ٱلۡخُلُودِ
Enter it in peace. This is the day of abiding.”
Surah Qaf, Verse 34
لَهُم مَّا يَشَآءُونَ فِيهَا وَلَدَيۡنَا مَزِيدٞ
Therein they shall have whatsoever they will; and with Us there is more
Surah Qaf, Verse 35
وَكَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا قَبۡلَهُم مِّن قَرۡنٍ هُمۡ أَشَدُّ مِنۡهُم بَطۡشٗا فَنَقَّبُواْ فِي ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ هَلۡ مِن مَّحِيصٍ
How many a generation before them have We destroyed who were of greater prowess than them? Then they searched about in the lands: “Is there any refuge?”
Surah Qaf, Verse 36
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَذِكۡرَىٰ لِمَن كَانَ لَهُۥ قَلۡبٌ أَوۡ أَلۡقَى ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَهُوَ شَهِيدٞ
Truly in that is a reminder for whosoever has a heart, or gives ear as witness
Surah Qaf, Verse 37
وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٖ وَمَا مَسَّنَا مِن لُّغُوبٖ
And indeed We created the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is between them in six days, and no fatigue touched Us
Surah Qaf, Verse 38
فَٱصۡبِرۡ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ قَبۡلَ طُلُوعِ ٱلشَّمۡسِ وَقَبۡلَ ٱلۡغُرُوبِ
So bear patiently that which they say, and hymn the praise of thy Lord before the rising of the sun and before the setting
Surah Qaf, Verse 39
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ فَسَبِّحۡهُ وَأَدۡبَٰرَ ٱلسُّجُودِ
And at night glorify Him, and after prostrations
Surah Qaf, Verse 40
وَٱسۡتَمِعۡ يَوۡمَ يُنَادِ ٱلۡمُنَادِ مِن مَّكَانٖ قَرِيبٖ
And listen on the Day when the caller calls from near at hand
Surah Qaf, Verse 41
يَوۡمَ يَسۡمَعُونَ ٱلصَّيۡحَةَ بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ ذَٰلِكَ يَوۡمُ ٱلۡخُرُوجِ
on the Day when they hear the Cry of Truth; that is the Day of coming forth
Surah Qaf, Verse 42
إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نُحۡيِۦ وَنُمِيتُ وَإِلَيۡنَا ٱلۡمَصِيرُ
Truly We give life and We cause death, and unto Us is the journey’s end
Surah Qaf, Verse 43
يَوۡمَ تَشَقَّقُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ عَنۡهُمۡ سِرَاعٗاۚ ذَٰلِكَ حَشۡرٌ عَلَيۡنَا يَسِيرٞ
That Day the earth is split asunder from about them—as they hasten forth. That is a gathering easy for Us
Surah Qaf, Verse 44
نَّحۡنُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا يَقُولُونَۖ وَمَآ أَنتَ عَلَيۡهِم بِجَبَّارٖۖ فَذَكِّرۡ بِٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ مَن يَخَافُ وَعِيدِ
We know best that which they say. Thine is not to compel them. So remind, by means of the Quran, those who fear My Threat
Surah Qaf, Verse 45
