Surah Al-Qamar - English Translation by Safi Ur Rahman Al Mubarakpuri
ٱقۡتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلۡقَمَرُ
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 1
وَإِن يَرَوۡاْ ءَايَةٗ يُعۡرِضُواْ وَيَقُولُواْ سِحۡرٞ مُّسۡتَمِرّٞ
And if they see an Ayah, they turn away and say: "This is magic, Mustamir
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 2
وَكَذَّبُواْ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓاْ أَهۡوَآءَهُمۡۚ وَكُلُّ أَمۡرٖ مُّسۡتَقِرّٞ
They denied and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 3
وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَنۢبَآءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزۡدَجَرٌ
And indeed there has come to them news wherein there is Muzdajar
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 4
حِكۡمَةُۢ بَٰلِغَةٞۖ فَمَا تُغۡنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ
Perfect wisdom, but warners benefit them not
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 5
فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡۘ يَوۡمَ يَدۡعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَيۡءٖ نُّكُرٍ
So withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 6
خُشَّعًا أَبۡصَٰرُهُمۡ يَخۡرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡأَجۡدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمۡ جَرَادٞ مُّنتَشِرٞ
They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 7
مُّهۡطِعِينَ إِلَى ٱلدَّاعِۖ يَقُولُ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ هَٰذَا يَوۡمٌ عَسِرٞ
Hastening towards the caller. The disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 8
۞كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحٖ فَكَذَّبُواْ عَبۡدَنَا وَقَالُواْ مَجۡنُونٞ وَٱزۡدُجِرَ
The people of Nuh denied (their Messenger) before them. They rejected Our servant and said: "A madman!" Wazdujir
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 9
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّي مَغۡلُوبٞ فَٱنتَصِرۡ
Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 10
فَفَتَحۡنَآ أَبۡوَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَآءٖ مُّنۡهَمِرٖ
So, We opened the gates of the heaven with water Munhamir
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 11
وَفَجَّرۡنَا ٱلۡأَرۡضَ عُيُونٗا فَٱلۡتَقَى ٱلۡمَآءُ عَلَىٰٓ أَمۡرٖ قَدۡ قُدِرَ
And We caused springs to gush forth from the earth. So, the waters met for a matter predestined
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 12
وَحَمَلۡنَٰهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلۡوَٰحٖ وَدُسُرٖ
And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails (Dusur)
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 13
تَجۡرِي بِأَعۡيُنِنَا جَزَآءٗ لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ
Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 14
وَلَقَد تَّرَكۡنَٰهَآ ءَايَةٗ فَهَلۡ مِن مُّدَّكِرٖ
And indeed, We have left this as a sign. Then is there any that will remember
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 15
فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
Then how (terrible) was My torment and My warnings
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 16
وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِن مُّدَّكِرٖ
And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember; then is there anyone who will remember
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 17
كَذَّبَتۡ عَادٞ فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
Ad denied; then how was My torment and My warnings
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 18
إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ رِيحٗا صَرۡصَرٗا فِي يَوۡمِ نَحۡسٖ مُّسۡتَمِرّٖ
Verily, We sent against them a violently cold (Sarsar) wind on a day of calamity, continuous
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 19
تَنزِعُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمۡ أَعۡجَازُ نَخۡلٖ مُّنقَعِرٖ
Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date palms
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 20
فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
Then, how was My torment and My warnings
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 21
وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِن مُّدَّكِرٖ
And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember; then is there any that will remember
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 22
كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
Thamud denied the warnings
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 23
فَقَالُوٓاْ أَبَشَرٗا مِّنَّا وَٰحِدٗا نَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذٗا لَّفِي ضَلَٰلٖ وَسُعُرٍ
And they said: "A man, alone among us -- shall we follow him Truly, then we should be in error and distress
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 24
أَءُلۡقِيَ ٱلذِّكۡرُ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۢ بَيۡنِنَا بَلۡ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٞ
Is it that the Reminder is sent to him alone from among us Nay, he is an insolent liar
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 25
سَيَعۡلَمُونَ غَدٗا مَّنِ ٱلۡكَذَّابُ ٱلۡأَشِرُ
Tomorrow they will come to know who is the liar, the insolent one
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 26
إِنَّا مُرۡسِلُواْ ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتۡنَةٗ لَّهُمۡ فَٱرۡتَقِبۡهُمۡ وَٱصۡطَبِرۡ
Verily, We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So watch them, and be patient
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 27
وَنَبِّئۡهُمۡ أَنَّ ٱلۡمَآءَ قِسۡمَةُۢ بَيۡنَهُمۡۖ كُلُّ شِرۡبٖ مُّحۡتَضَرٞ
And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them, each one's right to drink being established (by turns)
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 28
فَنَادَوۡاْ صَاحِبَهُمۡ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ
But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her)
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 29
فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
Then, how was My torment and My warnings
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 30
إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ صَيۡحَةٗ وَٰحِدَةٗ فَكَانُواْ كَهَشِيمِ ٱلۡمُحۡتَظِرِ
Verily, We sent against them a single Sayhah, and they became like straw Al-Muhtazir
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 31
وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِن مُّدَّكِرٖ
And indeed, We have made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember; then is there any that will remember
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 32
كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ لُوطِۭ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
The people of Lut denied the warnings
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 33
إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ حَاصِبًا إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٖۖ نَّجَّيۡنَٰهُم بِسَحَرٖ
Verily, We sent against them Hasib (a violent storm of stones), except the family of Lut, them We saved in the last hour of the night
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 34
نِّعۡمَةٗ مِّنۡ عِندِنَاۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي مَن شَكَرَ
As a favor from Us. Thus do We reward him who gives thanks
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 35
وَلَقَدۡ أَنذَرَهُم بَطۡشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوۡاْ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
And he indeed had warned them of Our punishment, but they doubted the warnings
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 36
وَلَقَدۡ رَٰوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيۡفِهِۦ فَطَمَسۡنَآ أَعۡيُنَهُمۡ فَذُوقُواْ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
And they indeed sought to shame his guests. So, We blinded their eyes (saying), "Then taste you My torment and My warnings
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 37
وَلَقَدۡ صَبَّحَهُم بُكۡرَةً عَذَابٞ مُّسۡتَقِرّٞ
And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 38
فَذُوقُواْ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
Then taste you My torment and My warnings
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 39
وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِن مُّدَّكِرٖ
And indeed, We have made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember; then is there any that will remember
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 40
وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَ ءَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ
And indeed, warnings came to the people of Fir`awn
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 41
كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذۡنَٰهُمۡ أَخۡذَ عَزِيزٖ مُّقۡتَدِرٍ
(They) denied all Our signs, so We seized them with a punishment of the Almighty, All-Capable
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 42
أَكُفَّارُكُمۡ خَيۡرٞ مِّنۡ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكُمۡ أَمۡ لَكُم بَرَآءَةٞ فِي ٱلزُّبُرِ
Are your disbelievers better than these Or have you immunity in the Divine Scriptures
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 43
أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ نَحۡنُ جَمِيعٞ مُّنتَصِرٞ
Or say they: "We are a great multitude, victorious
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 44
سَيُهۡزَمُ ٱلۡجَمۡعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ ٱلدُّبُرَ
Their multitude will be put to flight, and they will show their backs
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 45
بَلِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ مَوۡعِدُهُمۡ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدۡهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ
Nay, but the Hour is their appointed time, and the Hour will be more grievous and more bitter
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 46
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ فِي ضَلَٰلٖ وَسُعُرٖ
Verily, the criminals are in error and will burn
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 47
يَوۡمَ يُسۡحَبُونَ فِي ٱلنَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمۡ ذُوقُواْ مَسَّ سَقَرَ
The Day they will be dragged on their faces into the Fire (it will be said to them): "Taste you the touch of Hell
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 48
إِنَّا كُلَّ شَيۡءٍ خَلَقۡنَٰهُ بِقَدَرٖ
Verily, We have created all things with Qadar
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 49
وَمَآ أَمۡرُنَآ إِلَّا وَٰحِدَةٞ كَلَمۡحِۭ بِٱلۡبَصَرِ
And Our commandment is but one as the twinkling of an eye
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 50
وَلَقَدۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَآ أَشۡيَاعَكُمۡ فَهَلۡ مِن مُّدَّكِرٖ
And indeed, We have destroyed your likes; then is there any that will remember
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 51
وَكُلُّ شَيۡءٖ فَعَلُوهُ فِي ٱلزُّبُرِ
And everything they have done is noted in Az-Zubur
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 52
وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٖ وَكَبِيرٖ مُّسۡتَطَرٌ
And everything, small and large, is written down
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 53
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّـٰتٖ وَنَهَرٖ
Verily, those who have Taqwa, will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 54
فِي مَقۡعَدِ صِدۡقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٖ مُّقۡتَدِرِۭ
In a seat of truth, near the Muqtadir King
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 55
