Surah Nooh - English Translation by Mir Anees Original
إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦٓ أَنۡ أَنذِرۡ قَوۡمَكَ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن يَأۡتِيَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ
We had sent Nuh to his people, (saying), “Warn your people before a painful punishment comes on them.”
Surah Nooh, Verse 1
قَالَ يَٰقَوۡمِ إِنِّي لَكُمۡ نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٌ
He said, “O my people ! I am a clear warner to you
Surah Nooh, Verse 2
أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ
that you should serve (worship) Allah and fear Him and obey me
Surah Nooh, Verse 3
يَغۡفِرۡ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمۡ وَيُؤَخِّرۡكُمۡ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمًّىۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُۚ لَوۡ كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ
He will (for give and) protect you from your sins and give you time till an appointed term. When the term of Allah comes (to an end), it will certainly not be postponed, had you but known.”
Surah Nooh, Verse 4
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوۡتُ قَوۡمِي لَيۡلٗا وَنَهَارٗا
He said, “My Fosterer! I invited my people (towards You) night and day
Surah Nooh, Verse 5
فَلَمۡ يَزِدۡهُمۡ دُعَآءِيٓ إِلَّا فِرَارٗا
but my invitation did not increase in them anything except running away (from the truth)
Surah Nooh, Verse 6
وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوۡتُهُمۡ لِتَغۡفِرَ لَهُمۡ جَعَلُوٓاْ أَصَٰبِعَهُمۡ فِيٓ ءَاذَانِهِمۡ وَٱسۡتَغۡشَوۡاْ ثِيَابَهُمۡ وَأَصَرُّواْ وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْ ٱسۡتِكۡبَارٗا
And whenever I invited them that You will protectively forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears and covered, themselves with garments and persisted (in refusing) and considered themselves great (due to) pride
Surah Nooh, Verse 7
ثُمَّ إِنِّي دَعَوۡتُهُمۡ جِهَارٗا
Then I invited them aloud
Surah Nooh, Verse 8
ثُمَّ إِنِّيٓ أَعۡلَنتُ لَهُمۡ وَأَسۡرَرۡتُ لَهُمۡ إِسۡرَارٗا
then I invited them publicly and secretly in private
Surah Nooh, Verse 9
فَقُلۡتُ ٱسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمۡ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارٗا
then I said: Seek protective forgiveness of your Fosterer, He is certainly Protectively Forgiving
Surah Nooh, Verse 10
يُرۡسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيۡكُم مِّدۡرَارٗا
He will send on you abundant rain from the sky
Surah Nooh, Verse 11
وَيُمۡدِدۡكُم بِأَمۡوَٰلٖ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجۡعَل لَّكُمۡ جَنَّـٰتٖ وَيَجۡعَل لَّكُمۡ أَنۡهَٰرٗا
and will help you with wealth and sons and He will make gardens for you and He will make rivers for you
Surah Nooh, Verse 12
مَّا لَكُمۡ لَا تَرۡجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارٗا
What is (wrong) with you, do you not expect Allah to be serious (about the above promises)
Surah Nooh, Verse 13
وَقَدۡ خَلَقَكُمۡ أَطۡوَارًا
And He has created you (through) different stages
Surah Nooh, Verse 14
أَلَمۡ تَرَوۡاْ كَيۡفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبۡعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٖ طِبَاقٗا
Did you not consider how Allah created the seven skies (higher levels) in accordance with each other
Surah Nooh, Verse 15
وَجَعَلَ ٱلۡقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورٗا وَجَعَلَ ٱلشَّمۡسَ سِرَاجٗا
and made the moon therein (a source of reflected) light and made the sun a lamp
Surah Nooh, Verse 16
وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ نَبَاتٗا
And Allah caused you to grow from the earth (as a) growth
Surah Nooh, Verse 17
ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمۡ فِيهَا وَيُخۡرِجُكُمۡ إِخۡرَاجٗا
then He returns you into it and He will bring you out, a bringing out
Surah Nooh, Verse 18
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ بِسَاطٗا
And Allah has made the earth a wide expanse for you
Surah Nooh, Verse 19
لِّتَسۡلُكُواْ مِنۡهَا سُبُلٗا فِجَاجٗا
that you may move therein on wide ways.”
Surah Nooh, Verse 20
قَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمۡ عَصَوۡنِي وَٱتَّبَعُواْ مَن لَّمۡ يَزِدۡهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارٗا
Nuh said, “My Fosterer, they disobeyed me, and followed him whose wealth and children added to him nothing but loss
Surah Nooh, Verse 21
وَمَكَرُواْ مَكۡرٗا كُبَّارٗا
And they planned a great plan
Surah Nooh, Verse 22
وَقَالُواْ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدّٗا وَلَا سُوَاعٗا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسۡرٗا
And they said: Do not leave your gods, nor leave Wadd, nor Suwa nor Yagus and Yauq and Nasr* *Names of false gods (deities)
Surah Nooh, Verse 23
وَقَدۡ أَضَلُّواْ كَثِيرٗاۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَٰلٗا
And they have misled many, and You do not (give) increase to the unjust persons in anything but error.”
Surah Nooh, Verse 24
مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٰٔتِهِمۡ أُغۡرِقُواْ فَأُدۡخِلُواْ نَارٗا فَلَمۡ يَجِدُواْ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَنصَارٗا
They were drowned because of their faults, then made to enter the fire, and they did not find for themselves any helpers besides Allah
Surah Nooh, Verse 25
وَقَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرۡ عَلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِنَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا
And Nuh said, “My Fosterer! do not leave on the earth any dweller from among the infidels
Surah Nooh, Verse 26
إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرۡهُمۡ يُضِلُّواْ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓاْ إِلَّا فَاجِرٗا كَفَّارٗا
for if you leave them they will mislead your servants and they will not give birth to any but transgressing, ungrateful (children)
Surah Nooh, Verse 27
رَّبِّ ٱغۡفِرۡ لِي وَلِوَٰلِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيۡتِيَ مُؤۡمِنٗا وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارَۢا
My Fosterer ! protectively forgive me and my parents and him who enters my house as a believer, and the believing men and the believing women and do not (give) increase to the unjust persons, in anything but ruin.”
Surah Nooh, Verse 28
