Surah Nooh - English Translation by The Monotheist Group Edition
إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦٓ أَنۡ أَنذِرۡ قَوۡمَكَ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن يَأۡتِيَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ
We have sent Noah to his people: "Warn your people before a painful retribution comes to them
Surah Nooh, Verse 1
قَالَ يَٰقَوۡمِ إِنِّي لَكُمۡ نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٌ
He said: "My people, I am to you a clear warner
Surah Nooh, Verse 2
أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ
That you shall serve God and be aware of Him and obey
Surah Nooh, Verse 3
يَغۡفِرۡ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمۡ وَيُؤَخِّرۡكُمۡ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمًّىۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُۚ لَوۡ كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ
He shall forgive your sins and delay you to a predetermined time. When God's time comes, then it cannot be delayed, if you know
Surah Nooh, Verse 4
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوۡتُ قَوۡمِي لَيۡلٗا وَنَهَارٗا
He said: "My Lord, I have called on my people night and day
Surah Nooh, Verse 5
فَلَمۡ يَزِدۡهُمۡ دُعَآءِيٓ إِلَّا فِرَارٗا
But my calling only drove them away
Surah Nooh, Verse 6
وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوۡتُهُمۡ لِتَغۡفِرَ لَهُمۡ جَعَلُوٓاْ أَصَٰبِعَهُمۡ فِيٓ ءَاذَانِهِمۡ وَٱسۡتَغۡشَوۡاْ ثِيَابَهُمۡ وَأَصَرُّواْ وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْ ٱسۡتِكۡبَارٗا
And every time I called on them so that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears and they covered their heads with their outer garments and they insisted, and they became greatly arrogant
Surah Nooh, Verse 7
ثُمَّ إِنِّي دَعَوۡتُهُمۡ جِهَارٗا
Then I called to them openly
Surah Nooh, Verse 8
ثُمَّ إِنِّيٓ أَعۡلَنتُ لَهُمۡ وَأَسۡرَرۡتُ لَهُمۡ إِسۡرَارٗا
Then I announced to them, and I spoke to them in secret
Surah Nooh, Verse 9
فَقُلۡتُ ٱسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمۡ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارٗا
And I said: Seek forgiveness from your Lord, for He was forgiving
Surah Nooh, Verse 10
يُرۡسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيۡكُم مِّدۡرَارٗا
He sends the clouds upon you constantly
Surah Nooh, Verse 11
وَيُمۡدِدۡكُم بِأَمۡوَٰلٖ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجۡعَل لَّكُمۡ جَنَّـٰتٖ وَيَجۡعَل لَّكُمۡ أَنۡهَٰرٗا
And He provides you with money and children, and He makes for you gardens, and He makes for you rivers
Surah Nooh, Verse 12
مَّا لَكُمۡ لَا تَرۡجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارٗا
Why do you not seek God humbly
Surah Nooh, Verse 13
وَقَدۡ خَلَقَكُمۡ أَطۡوَارًا
While He created you in stages
Surah Nooh, Verse 14
أَلَمۡ تَرَوۡاْ كَيۡفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبۡعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٖ طِبَاقٗا
Did you not see how God created seven skies in layers
Surah Nooh, Verse 15
وَجَعَلَ ٱلۡقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورٗا وَجَعَلَ ٱلشَّمۡسَ سِرَاجٗا
And He made the moon to illuminate in them, and He made the sun to be a lit flame
Surah Nooh, Verse 16
وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ نَبَاتٗا
And God made you grow from the Earth like plants
Surah Nooh, Verse 17
ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمۡ فِيهَا وَيُخۡرِجُكُمۡ إِخۡرَاجٗا
Then He returns you to it, and He brings you out totally
Surah Nooh, Verse 18
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ بِسَاطٗا
And God made the land for you as a plain
Surah Nooh, Verse 19
لِّتَسۡلُكُواْ مِنۡهَا سُبُلٗا فِجَاجٗا
So that you may seek in it ways and paths
Surah Nooh, Verse 20
قَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمۡ عَصَوۡنِي وَٱتَّبَعُواْ مَن لَّمۡ يَزِدۡهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارٗا
Noah said: "My Lord, they have disobeyed me and have followed whose money and children only increased him in loss
Surah Nooh, Verse 21
وَمَكَرُواْ مَكۡرٗا كُبَّارٗا
And they plotted a great plotting
Surah Nooh, Verse 22
وَقَالُواْ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدّٗا وَلَا سُوَاعٗا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسۡرٗا
And they said: "Do not abandon your gods, do not abandon Destroyer, nor Night Group, nor Helper and Deterrer and Eagle
Surah Nooh, Verse 23
وَقَدۡ أَضَلُّواْ كَثِيرٗاۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَٰلٗا
And they have misguided many, but We only increase the wicked in misguidance
Surah Nooh, Verse 24
مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٰٔتِهِمۡ أُغۡرِقُواْ فَأُدۡخِلُواْ نَارٗا فَلَمۡ يَجِدُواْ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَنصَارٗا
For their sins they were drowned, then they were admitted to the Fire, and they could not find beside God any victor
Surah Nooh, Verse 25
وَقَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرۡ عَلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِنَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا
And Noah said: "My Lord, do not leave on the Earth any of the rejecters at all
Surah Nooh, Verse 26
إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرۡهُمۡ يُضِلُّواْ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓاْ إِلَّا فَاجِرٗا كَفَّارٗا
If you are to leave them, then they will misguide Your servants and they will only give birth to a wicked rejecter
Surah Nooh, Verse 27
رَّبِّ ٱغۡفِرۡ لِي وَلِوَٰلِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيۡتِيَ مُؤۡمِنٗا وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارَۢا
My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my home as a believer, and to the believing men and believing women, and do not increase the wicked except in destruction
Surah Nooh, Verse 28
