Surah Nooh - English Translation by Safi Kaskas
إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦٓ أَنۡ أَنذِرۡ قَوۡمَكَ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن يَأۡتِيَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ
We sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Warn your people before a painful punishment comes to them
Surah Nooh, Verse 1
قَالَ يَٰقَوۡمِ إِنِّي لَكُمۡ نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٌ
He said, "My people, I am coming to you with clear warnings
Surah Nooh, Verse 2
أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Worship God, be mindful of Him and obey me
Surah Nooh, Verse 3
يَغۡفِرۡ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمۡ وَيُؤَخِّرۡكُمۡ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمًّىۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُۚ لَوۡ كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ
God will forgive you of your sins, and reprieve you until an appointed time. When God's appointed time arrives it cannot be postponed, if you only knew
Surah Nooh, Verse 4
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوۡتُ قَوۡمِي لَيۡلٗا وَنَهَارٗا
He said, "My Lord, I invited my people night and day
Surah Nooh, Verse 5
فَلَمۡ يَزِدۡهُمۡ دُعَآءِيٓ إِلَّا فِرَارٗا
but the more I called them, the further they ran away
Surah Nooh, Verse 6
وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوۡتُهُمۡ لِتَغۡفِرَ لَهُمۡ جَعَلُوٓاْ أَصَٰبِعَهُمۡ فِيٓ ءَاذَانِهِمۡ وَٱسۡتَغۡشَوۡاْ ثِيَابَهُمۡ وَأَصَرُّواْ وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْ ٱسۡتِكۡبَارٗا
Every time I called them to Your forgiveness, they put their fingers into their ears, wrapped themselves in their garments, and insisted, and became increasingly more arrogant
Surah Nooh, Verse 7
ثُمَّ إِنِّي دَعَوۡتُهُمۡ جِهَارٗا
I invited them openly
Surah Nooh, Verse 8
ثُمَّ إِنِّيٓ أَعۡلَنتُ لَهُمۡ وَأَسۡرَرۡتُ لَهُمۡ إِسۡرَارٗا
Then I appealed to them publicly, and I spoke to them privately
Surah Nooh, Verse 9
فَقُلۡتُ ٱسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمۡ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارٗا
and said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. He is ever forgiving
Surah Nooh, Verse 10
يُرۡسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيۡكُم مِّدۡرَارٗا
He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you
Surah Nooh, Verse 11
وَيُمۡدِدۡكُم بِأَمۡوَٰلٖ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجۡعَل لَّكُمۡ جَنَّـٰتٖ وَيَجۡعَل لَّكُمۡ أَنۡهَٰرٗا
and will provide you with wealth and children and He will give you gardens and rivers
Surah Nooh, Verse 12
مَّا لَكُمۡ لَا تَرۡجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارٗا
What is the matter with you? Why can't you appreciate God's majesty
Surah Nooh, Verse 13
وَقَدۡ خَلَقَكُمۡ أَطۡوَارًا
when He has created you stage by stage
Surah Nooh, Verse 14
أَلَمۡ تَرَوۡاْ كَيۡفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبۡعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٖ طِبَاقٗا
Do you not see how God created seven superimposed heavens
Surah Nooh, Verse 15
وَجَعَلَ ٱلۡقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورٗا وَجَعَلَ ٱلشَّمۡسَ سِرَاجٗا
and placed the moon in them as a enlightenment and He made the sun a source of light
Surah Nooh, Verse 16
وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ نَبَاتٗا
God germinated you from the earth like plants
Surah Nooh, Verse 17
ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمۡ فِيهَا وَيُخۡرِجُكُمۡ إِخۡرَاجٗا
Then He will return you into it, and will bring you out again
Surah Nooh, Verse 18
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ بِسَاطٗا
And God has spread the earth out for you
Surah Nooh, Verse 19
لِّتَسۡلُكُواْ مِنۡهَا سُبُلٗا فِجَاجٗا
that you may travel its valleys as roadways
Surah Nooh, Verse 20
قَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمۡ عَصَوۡنِي وَٱتَّبَعُواْ مَن لَّمۡ يَزِدۡهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارٗا
Noah said, "My Lord, they have defied me, and followed those whose wealth and children lead them increasingly into loss
Surah Nooh, Verse 21
وَمَكَرُواْ مَكۡرٗا كُبَّارٗا
And they schemed outrageously
Surah Nooh, Verse 22
وَقَالُواْ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدّٗا وَلَا سُوَاعٗا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسۡرٗا
And said, 'Do not abandon your gods. Never leave Wadd or Suwa' or Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr
Surah Nooh, Verse 23
وَقَدۡ أَضَلُّواْ كَثِيرٗاۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَٰلٗا
They have already misled many. My Lord, increase these transgressors only in misguidance
Surah Nooh, Verse 24
مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٰٔتِهِمۡ أُغۡرِقُواْ فَأُدۡخِلُواْ نَارٗا فَلَمۡ يَجِدُواْ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَنصَارٗا
Because of their sins they were drowned and sent to Hell. They could not find any one to help them against God
Surah Nooh, Verse 25
وَقَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرۡ عَلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِنَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا
And Noah said, "My Lord, do not leave a single unbeliever on the face of the earth
Surah Nooh, Verse 26
إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرۡهُمۡ يُضِلُّواْ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓاْ إِلَّا فَاجِرٗا كَفَّارٗا
If You leave them, they will mislead Your worshipers and breed only wicked unbelievers
Surah Nooh, Verse 27
رَّبِّ ٱغۡفِرۡ لِي وَلِوَٰلِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيۡتِيَ مُؤۡمِنٗا وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارَۢا
My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house as a believer. Forgive all the believing men and women, but bring nothing but ruin down on the transgressors
Surah Nooh, Verse 28
