Surah Al-Jinn - English Translation by Safi Kaskas
قُلۡ أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنَّهُ ٱسۡتَمَعَ نَفَرٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ فَقَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا سَمِعۡنَا قُرۡءَانًا عَجَبٗا
Say, "It has been revealed to me that a group of jinn listened in and said, 'We have heard an amazing Recitation
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 1
يَهۡدِيٓ إِلَى ٱلرُّشۡدِ فَـَٔامَنَّا بِهِۦۖ وَلَن نُّشۡرِكَ بِرَبِّنَآ أَحَدٗا
It guides to righteousness, and we have believed it: We will never assign divinity to anyone except our Lord
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 2
وَأَنَّهُۥ تَعَٰلَىٰ جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا ٱتَّخَذَ صَٰحِبَةٗ وَلَا وَلَدٗا
And exalted be the glory of our Lord! He never had a spouse nor a child
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 3
وَأَنَّهُۥ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَفِيهُنَا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ شَطَطٗا
But the fools among us had been saying outrageous things about God
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 4
وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّآ أَن لَّن تَقُولَ ٱلۡإِنسُ وَٱلۡجِنُّ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبٗا
although we had thought that no human or jinn would dare tell a lie about God
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 5
وَأَنَّهُۥ كَانَ رِجَالٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡإِنسِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ فَزَادُوهُمۡ رَهَقٗا
Some individual humans used to seek power through some individual jinn, but they [the jinn] only increased their confusion
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 6
وَأَنَّهُمۡ ظَنُّواْ كَمَا ظَنَنتُمۡ أَن لَّن يَبۡعَثَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٗا
And they thought, as you thought, that God would not send anyone [as a messenger]
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 7
وَأَنَّا لَمَسۡنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ فَوَجَدۡنَٰهَا مُلِئَتۡ حَرَسٗا شَدِيدٗا وَشُهُبٗا
We as usual probed heaven [in search of news], and found it filled with fierce guards and projectiles
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 8
وَأَنَّا كُنَّا نَقۡعُدُ مِنۡهَا مَقَٰعِدَ لِلسَّمۡعِۖ فَمَن يَسۡتَمِعِ ٱلۡأٓنَ يَجِدۡ لَهُۥ شِهَابٗا رَّصَدٗا
We used to take up certain positions to listen in; but anyone trying to listen now finds a projectile in wait for him
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 9
وَأَنَّا لَا نَدۡرِيٓ أَشَرٌّ أُرِيدَ بِمَن فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَمۡ أَرَادَ بِهِمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ رَشَدٗا
We do not know therefore whether ill is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends to guide them
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 10
وَأَنَّا مِنَّا ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ وَمِنَّا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَۖ كُنَّا طَرَآئِقَ قِدَدٗا
Some of us are righteous, but others are less so; we follow different paths
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 11
وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّآ أَن لَّن نُّعۡجِزَ ٱللَّهَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَن نُّعۡجِزَهُۥ هَرَبٗا
And we have come to realize that we can never evade God living on earth, nor can we evade Him by escaping [from life]
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 12
وَأَنَّا لَمَّا سَمِعۡنَا ٱلۡهُدَىٰٓ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦۖ فَمَن يُؤۡمِنۢ بِرَبِّهِۦ فَلَا يَخَافُ بَخۡسٗا وَلَا رَهَقٗا
So when we heard this call to guidance, we believed in it. Whoever believes in his Lord will no longer fear the burden of life or injustice
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 13
وَأَنَّا مِنَّا ٱلۡمُسۡلِمُونَ وَمِنَّا ٱلۡقَٰسِطُونَۖ فَمَنۡ أَسۡلَمَ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ تَحَرَّوۡاْ رَشَدٗا
Some of us submitted to God, while others are transgressors. Those who submitted have sought out right guidance
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 14
وَأَمَّا ٱلۡقَٰسِطُونَ فَكَانُواْ لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَبٗا
As for the transgressors, they will be firewood for Hell
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 15
وَأَلَّوِ ٱسۡتَقَٰمُواْ عَلَى ٱلطَّرِيقَةِ لَأَسۡقَيۡنَٰهُم مَّآءً غَدَقٗا
Had [your people] kept true to the path, We would have given them abundant drinking water supply
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 16
لِّنَفۡتِنَهُمۡ فِيهِۚ وَمَن يُعۡرِضۡ عَن ذِكۡرِ رَبِّهِۦ يَسۡلُكۡهُ عَذَابٗا صَعَدٗا
a test for them. Whoever turns away from remembering to call on his Lord will be put into an arduous punishment
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 17
وَأَنَّ ٱلۡمَسَٰجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدۡعُواْ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدٗا
Places of worship are for God. So do not call on anyone else besides God
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 18
وَأَنَّهُۥ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبۡدُ ٱللَّهِ يَدۡعُوهُ كَادُواْ يَكُونُونَ عَلَيۡهِ لِبَدٗا
Yet when God's servant stood up calling on Him, they [the unbelievers] overwhelmed him with their crowds
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 19
قُلۡ إِنَّمَآ أَدۡعُواْ رَبِّي وَلَآ أُشۡرِكُ بِهِۦٓ أَحَدٗا
Say, "I only call on my Lord and I never associate anyone with Him
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 20
قُلۡ إِنِّي لَآ أَمۡلِكُ لَكُمۡ ضَرّٗا وَلَا رَشَدٗا
Say, "It is not in my power to harm you, nor to guide you rightly
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 21
قُلۡ إِنِّي لَن يُجِيرَنِي مِنَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدٞ وَلَنۡ أَجِدَ مِن دُونِهِۦ مُلۡتَحَدًا
Say, "No one can protect me from God, and I will never find any refuge except in Him
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 22
إِلَّا بَلَٰغٗا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِسَٰلَٰتِهِۦۚ وَمَن يَعۡصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا
I only deliver what I receive from God and His messages.He who disobeys God and His Messenger, will have the fire of Hell where they will be forever
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 23
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا رَأَوۡاْ مَا يُوعَدُونَ فَسَيَعۡلَمُونَ مَنۡ أَضۡعَفُ نَاصِرٗا وَأَقَلُّ عَدَدٗا
until they see that which they were promised and they will know who has less support and are fewer in number
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 24
قُلۡ إِنۡ أَدۡرِيٓ أَقَرِيبٞ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ أَمۡ يَجۡعَلُ لَهُۥ رَبِّيٓ أَمَدًا
Say, "I do not know whether what you are promised will happen soon or whether it will be delayed by my Lord for a period
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 25
عَٰلِمُ ٱلۡغَيۡبِ فَلَا يُظۡهِرُ عَلَىٰ غَيۡبِهِۦٓ أَحَدًا
He alone knows what is beyond our perception, and He doesn't disclose His knowledge of the unseen to anyone
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 26
إِلَّا مَنِ ٱرۡتَضَىٰ مِن رَّسُولٖ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَسۡلُكُ مِنۢ بَيۡنِ يَدَيۡهِ وَمِنۡ خَلۡفِهِۦ رَصَدٗا
except to a Messenger of His choosing. He then dispatches guards before him and behind him
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 27
لِّيَعۡلَمَ أَن قَدۡ أَبۡلَغُواْ رِسَٰلَٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَأَحَاطَ بِمَا لَدَيۡهِمۡ وَأَحۡصَىٰ كُلَّ شَيۡءٍ عَدَدَۢا
That he may know that they have conveyed the messages of their Lord. He encompasses what they have, and has counted everything by number
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 28
