Surah Al-Jinn - English Translation by Tbirving
قُلۡ أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنَّهُ ٱسۡتَمَعَ نَفَرٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ فَقَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا سَمِعۡنَا قُرۡءَانًا عَجَبٗا
SAY: "It has been revealed to me that a band of sprites sat listening, and then said: ´We have heard a wonderful Reading
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 1
يَهۡدِيٓ إِلَى ٱلرُّشۡدِ فَـَٔامَنَّا بِهِۦۖ وَلَن نُّشۡرِكَ بِرَبِّنَآ أَحَدٗا
guiding [people] to normal behavior, so we have believed in it. Not one of us will ever associate anyone else with our Lord
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 2
وَأَنَّهُۥ تَعَٰلَىٰ جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا ٱتَّخَذَ صَٰحِبَةٗ وَلَا وَلَدٗا
Our Lord´s excellence must be exalted! He has taken no consort nor any son
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 3
وَأَنَّهُۥ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَفِيهُنَا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ شَطَطٗا
Some fool among us has been saying outrageous things about God
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 4
وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّآ أَن لَّن تَقُولَ ٱلۡإِنسُ وَٱلۡجِنُّ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبٗا
We thought that no human being nor any sprite would ever tell a lie about God!´
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 5
وَأَنَّهُۥ كَانَ رِجَالٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡإِنسِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ فَزَادُوهُمۡ رَهَقٗا
Once human men used to take refuge with men from the sprites and it made them even more pretentious
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 6
وَأَنَّهُمۡ ظَنُّواْ كَمَا ظَنَنتُمۡ أَن لَّن يَبۡعَثَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٗا
They thought, just as you have supposed, that God will never send anyone up again
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 7
وَأَنَّا لَمَسۡنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ فَوَجَدۡنَٰهَا مُلِئَتۡ حَرَسٗا شَدِيدٗا وَشُهُبٗا
We reached out for Heaven and found it staffed with stern guards and shooting stars
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 8
وَأَنَّا كُنَّا نَقۡعُدُ مِنۡهَا مَقَٰعِدَ لِلسَّمۡعِۖ فَمَن يَسۡتَمِعِ ٱلۡأٓنَ يَجِدۡ لَهُۥ شِهَابٗا رَّصَدٗا
We used to squat in some of its seats to listen, though anyone who eavesdrops now finds a shooting star lurking there for him
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 9
وَأَنَّا لَا نَدۡرِيٓ أَشَرٌّ أُرِيدَ بِمَن فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَمۡ أَرَادَ بِهِمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ رَشَدٗا
We do not know whether evil is intended for anyone on earth, or their Lord wants integrity for them
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 10
وَأَنَّا مِنَّا ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ وَمِنَّا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَۖ كُنَّا طَرَآئِقَ قِدَدٗا
Some of us are honorable while others of us are quite the opposite of that: we [travel] along such diverse routes
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 11
وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّآ أَن لَّن نُّعۡجِزَ ٱللَّهَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَن نُّعۡجِزَهُۥ هَرَبٗا
We supposed we would never escape God on earth, and we shall never escape Him by fleeing
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 12
وَأَنَّا لَمَّا سَمِعۡنَا ٱلۡهُدَىٰٓ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦۖ فَمَن يُؤۡمِنۢ بِرَبِّهِۦ فَلَا يَخَافُ بَخۡسٗا وَلَا رَهَقٗا
When we heard about guidance, we trusted it. Anyone who trusts in his Lord needs not fear about being undersold nor caught short
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 13
وَأَنَّا مِنَّا ٱلۡمُسۡلِمُونَ وَمِنَّا ٱلۡقَٰسِطُونَۖ فَمَنۡ أَسۡلَمَ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ تَحَرَّوۡاْ رَشَدٗا
Some of us are Muslims while others of us are [still] holding back. Those who have committed themselves to (live in) peace are dedicated to integrity
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 14
وَأَمَّا ٱلۡقَٰسِطُونَ فَكَانُواْ لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَبٗا
while those who hold back will become kindling for Hell
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 15
وَأَلَّوِ ٱسۡتَقَٰمُواْ عَلَى ٱلطَّرِيقَةِ لَأَسۡقَيۡنَٰهُم مَّآءً غَدَقٗا
If they would only keep straight along the highway, We will let them drink plenty of water
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 16
لِّنَفۡتِنَهُمۡ فِيهِۚ وَمَن يُعۡرِضۡ عَن ذِكۡرِ رَبِّهِۦ يَسۡلُكۡهُ عَذَابٗا صَعَدٗا
so We may test them by means of it; while it will lead anyone away to mounting torment who avoids mentioning his Lord
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 17
وَأَنَّ ٱلۡمَسَٰجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدۡعُواْ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدٗا
Mosques belong to God, so do not appeal to anyone besides God (in them)
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 18
وَأَنَّهُۥ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبۡدُ ٱللَّهِ يَدۡعُوهُ كَادُواْ يَكُونُونَ عَلَيۡهِ لِبَدٗا
Yet whenever God´s servant stood up to appeal to Him, they almost crowded in upon him
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 19
قُلۡ إِنَّمَآ أَدۡعُواْ رَبِّي وَلَآ أُشۡرِكُ بِهِۦٓ أَحَدٗا
SAY: "I appeal only to my Lord and never associate anyone else [in my worship of] Him
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 20
قُلۡ إِنِّي لَآ أَمۡلِكُ لَكُمۡ ضَرّٗا وَلَا رَشَدٗا
SAY: "I do not control any harm for you nor any integrity
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 21
قُلۡ إِنِّي لَن يُجِيرَنِي مِنَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدٞ وَلَنۡ أَجِدَ مِن دُونِهِۦ مُلۡتَحَدًا
SAY: "No one grants protection from God nor will I ever find any sanctuary besides that in Him
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 22
إِلَّا بَلَٰغٗا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِسَٰلَٰتِهِۦۚ وَمَن يَعۡصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا
except through a decree from God, and in His message. Anyone who defies God and His messenger will have Hell fire to live in for ever
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 23
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا رَأَوۡاْ مَا يُوعَدُونَ فَسَيَعۡلَمُونَ مَنۡ أَضۡعَفُ نَاصِرٗا وَأَقَلُّ عَدَدٗا
until once they see what they have been promised, they will realize who has the weakest supporter and are fewest in numbers
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 24
قُلۡ إِنۡ أَدۡرِيٓ أَقَرِيبٞ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ أَمۡ يَجۡعَلُ لَهُۥ رَبِّيٓ أَمَدًا
SAY: "If I only knew whether what you are promised is near, or whether my Lord has set a grace period for it
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 25
عَٰلِمُ ٱلۡغَيۡبِ فَلَا يُظۡهِرُ عَلَىٰ غَيۡبِهِۦٓ أَحَدًا
Knowing the Unseen, He never discloses his Unseen [secrets] to anyone
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 26
إِلَّا مَنِ ٱرۡتَضَىٰ مِن رَّسُولٖ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَسۡلُكُ مِنۢ بَيۡنِ يَدَيۡهِ وَمِنۡ خَلۡفِهِۦ رَصَدٗا
except for some messenger whom He approves of. He leads him off with an escort both before him and behind him
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 27
لِّيَعۡلَمَ أَن قَدۡ أَبۡلَغُواْ رِسَٰلَٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَأَحَاطَ بِمَا لَدَيۡهِمۡ وَأَحۡصَىٰ كُلَّ شَيۡءٍ عَدَدَۢا
so He may know that they have delivered their Lord´s messages. He embraces anything that lies in their prescnce, and calculates everything by means of numbers
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 28
