Surah Al-Jinn - English Translation by Mir Aneesuddin
قُلۡ أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنَّهُ ٱسۡتَمَعَ نَفَرٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ فَقَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا سَمِعۡنَا قُرۡءَانًا عَجَبٗا
Say: It is communicated to me that a party of the jinn heard (the Quran) and said, “We have heard a wonderful Quran
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 1
يَهۡدِيٓ إِلَى ٱلرُّشۡدِ فَـَٔامَنَّا بِهِۦۖ وَلَن نُّشۡرِكَ بِرَبِّنَآ أَحَدٗا
It guides to the right way, so we have believed in it and we will never associate any partner with our Lord
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 2
وَأَنَّهُۥ تَعَٰلَىٰ جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا ٱتَّخَذَ صَٰحِبَةٗ وَلَا وَلَدٗا
And Exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, He has not taken a wife or a son
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 3
وَأَنَّهُۥ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَفِيهُنَا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ شَطَطٗا
And the foolish among us used to say unjust (things) about God
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 4
وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّآ أَن لَّن تَقُولَ ٱلۡإِنسُ وَٱلۡجِنُّ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبٗا
And we thought that mankind and jinn never speak a lie against God
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 5
وَأَنَّهُۥ كَانَ رِجَالٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡإِنسِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ فَزَادُوهُمۡ رَهَقٗا
And persons from among human beings used to seek protection of persons from among the jinn so they increased them in error
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 6
وَأَنَّهُمۡ ظَنُّواْ كَمَا ظَنَنتُمۡ أَن لَّن يَبۡعَثَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٗا
And they (too) thought as you thought that God will never raise anyone (to life after death)
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 7
وَأَنَّا لَمَسۡنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ فَوَجَدۡنَٰهَا مُلِئَتۡ حَرَسٗا شَدِيدٗا وَشُهُبٗا
And we searched the sky but found it filled with strong guards and flames
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 8
وَأَنَّا كُنَّا نَقۡعُدُ مِنۡهَا مَقَٰعِدَ لِلسَّمۡعِۖ فَمَن يَسۡتَمِعِ ٱلۡأٓنَ يَجِدۡ لَهُۥ شِهَابٗا رَّصَدٗا
And we used to sit in some of the sitting places thereof to hear, but now whoever hears, he finds a flame waiting for him
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 9
وَأَنَّا لَا نَدۡرِيٓ أَشَرٌّ أُرِيدَ بِمَن فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَمۡ أَرَادَ بِهِمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ رَشَدٗا
And we do not know whether evil is intended for those who are in the earth or their Lord intends (to guide) them to the right way
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 10
وَأَنَّا مِنَّا ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ وَمِنَّا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَۖ كُنَّا طَرَآئِقَ قِدَدٗا
And among us are those who are righteous and among us (are those who are) other than that, we are sects following different traditions
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 11
وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّآ أَن لَّن نُّعۡجِزَ ٱللَّهَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَن نُّعۡجِزَهُۥ هَرَبٗا
And we know that we can neither defeat God in the earth nor can we defeat Him by flight
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 12
وَأَنَّا لَمَّا سَمِعۡنَا ٱلۡهُدَىٰٓ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦۖ فَمَن يُؤۡمِنۢ بِرَبِّهِۦ فَلَا يَخَافُ بَخۡسٗا وَلَا رَهَقٗا
And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it, so whoever believes in his Lord, he should neither fear loss nor error
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 13
وَأَنَّا مِنَّا ٱلۡمُسۡلِمُونَ وَمِنَّا ٱلۡقَٰسِطُونَۖ فَمَنۡ أَسۡلَمَ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ تَحَرَّوۡاْ رَشَدٗا
And among us are those who have submitted (as Muslims) and among us are those who are unjust. So those who have submitted (as Muslims) such have taken to the right way
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 14
وَأَمَّا ٱلۡقَٰسِطُونَ فَكَانُواْ لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَبٗا
And as for those who are unjust, they are the fuel for hell.”
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 15
وَأَلَّوِ ٱسۡتَقَٰمُواْ عَلَى ٱلطَّرِيقَةِ لَأَسۡقَيۡنَٰهُم مَّآءً غَدَقٗا
And if they establish (themselves) on (the right) tradition We would give them to drink abundant water
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 16
لِّنَفۡتِنَهُمۡ فِيهِۚ وَمَن يُعۡرِضۡ عَن ذِكۡرِ رَبِّهِۦ يَسۡلُكۡهُ عَذَابٗا صَعَدٗا
so that We may test them thereby, and whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will cause him to enter severe punishment
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 17
وَأَنَّ ٱلۡمَسَٰجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدۡعُواْ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدٗا
And the mosques are God's so do not pray to anyone (else along) with God
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 18
وَأَنَّهُۥ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبۡدُ ٱللَّهِ يَدۡعُوهُ كَادُواْ يَكُونُونَ عَلَيۡهِ لِبَدٗا
And when the servant of God stood up to pray to Him they almost crowded over him
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 19
قُلۡ إِنَّمَآ أَدۡعُواْ رَبِّي وَلَآ أُشۡرِكُ بِهِۦٓ أَحَدٗا
Say, “I pray only to my Lord and I do not associate anyone with Him.”
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 20
قُلۡ إِنِّي لَآ أَمۡلِكُ لَكُمۡ ضَرّٗا وَلَا رَشَدٗا
Say, “I certainly do not control for you anything, wrong or right.”
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 21
قُلۡ إِنِّي لَن يُجِيرَنِي مِنَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدٞ وَلَنۡ أَجِدَ مِن دُونِهِۦ مُلۡتَحَدًا
Say, “None can ever protect me against God and I can never find besides Him, (any source of) refuge
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 22
إِلَّا بَلَٰغٗا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِسَٰلَٰتِهِۦۚ وَمَن يَعۡصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا
(my duty is nothing) but to convey (the communications) from God and His messages, and whoever disobeys God and His messenger, then for such, there is certainly the fire , of hell, in which they will stay forever.” which they will stay forever.”
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 23
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا رَأَوۡاْ مَا يُوعَدُونَ فَسَيَعۡلَمُونَ مَنۡ أَضۡعَفُ نَاصِرٗا وَأَقَلُّ عَدَدٗا
(The disbelievers will not believe) till (the time) when they see that which they are promised, then they will know who is weaker in helpers and lesser in number
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 24
قُلۡ إِنۡ أَدۡرِيٓ أَقَرِيبٞ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ أَمۡ يَجۡعَلُ لَهُۥ رَبِّيٓ أَمَدًا
Say, “I do not know whether that which you are promised is nearer or whether my Lord has made its (time of happening) far off.”
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 25
عَٰلِمُ ٱلۡغَيۡبِ فَلَا يُظۡهِرُ عَلَىٰ غَيۡبِهِۦٓ أَحَدًا
Knower of the unseen, but He does not reveal His unseen to anyone
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 26
إِلَّا مَنِ ٱرۡتَضَىٰ مِن رَّسُولٖ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَسۡلُكُ مِنۢ بَيۡنِ يَدَيۡهِ وَمِنۡ خَلۡفِهِۦ رَصَدٗا
except to a messenger whom He chooses, but He makes one who is watchful, to move before him and behind him
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 27
لِّيَعۡلَمَ أَن قَدۡ أَبۡلَغُواْ رِسَٰلَٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَأَحَاطَ بِمَا لَدَيۡهِمۡ وَأَحۡصَىٰ كُلَّ شَيۡءٍ عَدَدَۢا
that He may know (mark out) that they have indeed conveyed the messages of their Lord. And He encompasses all that is with them and He computes the number of everything
Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 28
