Surah At-Takwir - English Translation by Safi Kaskas
إِذَا ٱلشَّمۡسُ كُوِّرَتۡ
When the sun folds
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 1
وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتۡ
and the stars are dispersed
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 2
وَإِذَا ٱلۡجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتۡ
when the mountains are shifting
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 3
وَإِذَا ٱلۡعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتۡ
and when full-term she-camels are neglected
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 4
وَإِذَا ٱلۡوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتۡ
When the wild beasts are gathered
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 5
وَإِذَا ٱلۡبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتۡ
when the seas are set aflame
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 6
وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتۡ
when the souls are paired
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 7
وَإِذَا ٱلۡمَوۡءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتۡ
when the female baby who was buried alive is asked
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 8
بِأَيِّ ذَنۢبٖ قُتِلَتۡ
for what sin she was killed
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 9
وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتۡ
When the records are made public
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 10
وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتۡ
when the sky is stripped away
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 11
وَإِذَا ٱلۡجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتۡ
when Hell is set ablaze
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 12
وَإِذَا ٱلۡجَنَّةُ أُزۡلِفَتۡ
when Paradise is brought into view
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 13
عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٞ مَّآ أَحۡضَرَتۡ
every soul will then know what it has brought with it
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 14
فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلۡخُنَّسِ
I swear by the planets
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 15
ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡكُنَّسِ
the runners and sweepers
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 16
وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا عَسۡعَسَ
and by the night as it recedes
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 17
وَٱلصُّبۡحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ
and the dawn when it breathes
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 18
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُولٖ كَرِيمٖ
this revelation is indeed the word of a honorable Messenger
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 19
ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِي ٱلۡعَرۡشِ مَكِينٖ
endowed with strength, secure with the Lord of the Throne
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 20
مُّطَاعٖ ثَمَّ أَمِينٖ
obeyed and trustworthy
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 21
وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجۡنُونٖ
This fellow of yours is not mad
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 22
وَلَقَدۡ رَءَاهُ بِٱلۡأُفُقِ ٱلۡمُبِينِ
he has already seen him [Gabriel] in the clear horizon
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 23
وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلۡغَيۡبِ بِضَنِينٖ
He does not withhold what is revealed to him from beyond
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 24
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَيۡطَٰنٖ رَّجِيمٖ
And it (the Qur'an) is not the word of a devil, expelled from Heaven
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 25
فَأَيۡنَ تَذۡهَبُونَ
So where, then, will you go
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 26
إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكۡرٞ لِّلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
It is only a reminder to all humankind
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 27
لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمۡ أَن يَسۡتَقِيمَ
for whoever wills among you to go straight
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 28
وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
But you cannot will, unless God, the Lord of the worlds, so wills
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 29
