Surah At-Takwir - English Translation by Ali Bakhtiari Nejad
إِذَا ٱلشَّمۡسُ كُوِّرَتۡ
When the sun is rolled up
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 1
وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتۡ
and when the stars are dimmed
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 2
وَإِذَا ٱلۡجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتۡ
and when the mountains are moved
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 3
وَإِذَا ٱلۡعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتۡ
and when the ten months pregnant camels are abandoned
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 4
وَإِذَا ٱلۡوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتۡ
and when the wild animals are gathered
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 5
وَإِذَا ٱلۡبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتۡ
and when the seas are set on fire
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 6
وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتۡ
and when the souls are paired
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 7
وَإِذَا ٱلۡمَوۡءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتۡ
and when the girl buried alive is asked
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 8
بِأَيِّ ذَنۢبٖ قُتِلَتۡ
for what sin she was killed
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 9
وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتۡ
and when the pages (of deeds) are opened
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 10
وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتۡ
and when the sky is removed
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 11
وَإِذَا ٱلۡجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتۡ
and when the hellfire is flared up
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 12
وَإِذَا ٱلۡجَنَّةُ أُزۡلِفَتۡ
and when the garden is brought near
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 13
عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٞ مَّآ أَحۡضَرَتۡ
a person knows what he brought along
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 14
فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلۡخُنَّسِ
So I swear by the returning stars/planets
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 15
ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡكُنَّسِ
running their course (and orbit) and hiding
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 16
وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا عَسۡعَسَ
and by the night when it turns dark
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 17
وَٱلصُّبۡحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ
and by the morning when it breathes (and lights up)
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 18
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُولٖ كَرِيمٖ
indeed it (Quran) is word of a noble messenger
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 19
ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِي ٱلۡعَرۡشِ مَكِينٖ
powerful and distinguished with the owner of the throne
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 20
مُّطَاعٖ ثَمَّ أَمِينٖ
he is obeyed and is honest
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 21
وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجۡنُونٖ
And your companion is not a madman
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 22
وَلَقَدۡ رَءَاهُ بِٱلۡأُفُقِ ٱلۡمُبِينِ
and he has certainly seen him on the clear horizon
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 23
وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلۡغَيۡبِ بِضَنِينٖ
And he is not stingy with the unseen (that is revealed to him)
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 24
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَيۡطَٰنٖ رَّجِيمٖ
and it is not word of expelled Satan
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 25
فَأَيۡنَ تَذۡهَبُونَ
So where are you going
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 26
إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكۡرٞ لِّلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
It is not but a reminder for humankind
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 27
لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمۡ أَن يَسۡتَقِيمَ
for anyone of you who want to go straight
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 28
وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
And you do not want (anything) except that which God, Master of humankind wants
Surah At-Takwir, Verse 29
