Surah Al-Ghashiya - English Translation by Ali Bakhtiari Nejad
هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلۡغَٰشِيَةِ
Did the story of the overwhelming come to you
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 1
وُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٍ خَٰشِعَةٌ
On that day (some) faces are humble
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 2
عَامِلَةٞ نَّاصِبَةٞ
working hard, exhausted
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 3
تَصۡلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةٗ
entering (and burning in) a scorching fire
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 4
تُسۡقَىٰ مِنۡ عَيۡنٍ ءَانِيَةٖ
they are made to drink from a boiling spring
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 5
لَّيۡسَ لَهُمۡ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٖ
There is no food for them except from a thorny plant
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 6
لَّا يُسۡمِنُ وَلَا يُغۡنِي مِن جُوعٖ
that does not nourish and it does not satisfy hunger
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 7
وُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ نَّاعِمَةٞ
On that day (other) faces are delightful
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 8
لِّسَعۡيِهَا رَاضِيَةٞ
pleased with their effort
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 9
فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٖ
in an excellent garden
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 10
لَّا تَسۡمَعُ فِيهَا لَٰغِيَةٗ
they do not hear any useless talk in it
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 11
فِيهَا عَيۡنٞ جَارِيَةٞ
a running spring in it
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 12
فِيهَا سُرُرٞ مَّرۡفُوعَةٞ
raised sofas in it
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 13
وَأَكۡوَابٞ مَّوۡضُوعَةٞ
and drinking glasses set in place
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 14
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصۡفُوفَةٞ
and pillows arranged in rows
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 15
وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبۡثُوثَةٌ
and spread out rugs
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 16
أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلۡإِبِلِ كَيۡفَ خُلِقَتۡ
Do they not look at the camel, how it is created
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 17
وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيۡفَ رُفِعَتۡ
And at the sky, how it is raised
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 18
وَإِلَى ٱلۡجِبَالِ كَيۡفَ نُصِبَتۡ
And at the mountain, how it is set up
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 19
وَإِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كَيۡفَ سُطِحَتۡ
And at the earth, how it is spread out
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 20
فَذَكِّرۡ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٞ
So remind (them), for you are only to remind
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 21
لَّسۡتَ عَلَيۡهِم بِمُصَيۡطِرٍ
You are not an overseer for them
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 22
إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
But anyone who turns away and disbelieves
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 23
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَكۡبَرَ
then God punishes him with the great punishment
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 24
إِنَّ إِلَيۡنَآ إِيَابَهُمۡ
Indeed their return is to Us
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 25
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا حِسَابَهُم
then indeed their accounting is on Us
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 26
