Surah Al-Ghashiya - English Translation by Tbirving
هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلۡغَٰشِيَةِ
Has the story of the Pall ever reached you
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 1
وُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٍ خَٰشِعَةٌ
Some faces will be downcast on that day
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 2
عَامِلَةٞ نَّاصِبَةٞ
laboring, toiling
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 3
تَصۡلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةٗ
They will roast in a scorching fire
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 4
تُسۡقَىٰ مِنۡ عَيۡنٍ ءَانِيَةٖ
offered a boiling spring to drink from
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 5
لَّيۡسَ لَهُمۡ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٖ
they will have no food except some cactus
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 6
لَّا يُسۡمِنُ وَلَا يُغۡنِي مِن جُوعٖ
which will neither fatten (them) nor satisfy their hunger
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 7
وُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ نَّاعِمَةٞ
Other faces will be blissful on that day
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 8
لِّسَعۡيِهَا رَاضِيَةٞ
pleased with their effort
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 9
فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٖ
(dwelling) in a lofty garden
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 10
لَّا تَسۡمَعُ فِيهَا لَٰغِيَةٗ
No loose talk will be heard in it
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 11
فِيهَا عَيۡنٞ جَارِيَةٞ
There will be a flowing spring there
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 12
فِيهَا سُرُرٞ مَّرۡفُوعَةٞ
by it couches will be raised up
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 13
وَأَكۡوَابٞ مَّوۡضُوعَةٞ
glasses set in place
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 14
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصۡفُوفَةٞ
cushions lined up
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 15
وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبۡثُوثَةٌ
and carpets spread around
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 16
أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلۡإِبِلِ كَيۡفَ خُلِقَتۡ
Do they not consider how camels have been created
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 17
وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيۡفَ رُفِعَتۡ
Nor how the sky has been lifted up
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 18
وَإِلَى ٱلۡجِبَالِ كَيۡفَ نُصِبَتۡ
Nor how the mountains have been erected
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 19
وَإِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كَيۡفَ سُطِحَتۡ
Nor even how the earth has been flattened out
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 20
فَذَكِّرۡ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٞ
So remind: you need only to remind
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 21
لَّسۡتَ عَلَيۡهِم بِمُصَيۡطِرٍ
You are no taskmaster set up over them
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 22
إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
except for someone who turns away and disbelieves
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 23
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَكۡبَرَ
God will punish him with the worst torment
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 24
إِنَّ إِلَيۡنَآ إِيَابَهُمۡ
Toward Us lies their retreat
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 25
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا حِسَابَهُم
then their reckoning will fall on Us
Surah Al-Ghashiya, Verse 26
