حمٓ
Ha Mim
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 1
وَٱلۡكِتَٰبِ ٱلۡمُبِينِ
By the Book which makes things clear
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 2
إِنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ فِي لَيۡلَةٖ مُّبَٰرَكَةٍۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ
We sent it down on a blessed night; We are constantly giving warning
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 3
فِيهَا يُفۡرَقُ كُلُّ أَمۡرٍ حَكِيمٍ
During it every wise decree is specified
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 4
أَمۡرٗا مِّنۡ عِندِنَآۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرۡسِلِينَ
by a command from Our presence. We are constantly sending out
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 5
رَحۡمَةٗ مِّن رَّبِّكَۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
as a mercy from your Lord. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 6
رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَآۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
the Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything in between them, if you are people with certainty
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 7
لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحۡيِۦ وَيُمِيتُۖ رَبُّكُمۡ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
There is no god but Him — He gives life and causes to die — your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers, the previous peoples
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 8
بَلۡ هُمۡ فِي شَكّٖ يَلۡعَبُونَ
Yet they play around in doubt
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 9
فَٱرۡتَقِبۡ يَوۡمَ تَأۡتِي ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٖ مُّبِينٖ
So be on the watch for a day when heaven brings forth a distinctive smoke
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 10
يَغۡشَى ٱلنَّاسَۖ هَٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ
which enshrouds mankind. ´This is a painful punishment
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 11
رَّبَّنَا ٱكۡشِفۡ عَنَّا ٱلۡعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤۡمِنُونَ
Our Lord, remove the punishment from us. We are really muminun.´
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 12
أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ وَقَدۡ جَآءَهُمۡ رَسُولٞ مُّبِينٞ
How can they expect a Reminder when a clear Messenger has already come to them
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 13
ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوۡاْ عَنۡهُ وَقَالُواْ مُعَلَّمٞ مَّجۡنُونٌ
But then they turned away from him and said, ´He is an instructed madman!´
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 14
إِنَّا كَاشِفُواْ ٱلۡعَذَابِ قَلِيلًاۚ إِنَّكُمۡ عَآئِدُونَ
We remove the punishment a little, and you revert
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 15
يَوۡمَ نَبۡطِشُ ٱلۡبَطۡشَةَ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰٓ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ
On the day We launch the Great Assault We will certainly take Our revenge
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 16
۞وَلَقَدۡ فَتَنَّا قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَجَآءَهُمۡ رَسُولٞ كَرِيمٌ
Before them We put Pharaoh´s people to the test when a noble Messenger came to them, saying
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 17
أَنۡ أَدُّوٓاْ إِلَيَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِۖ إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞ
´Hand over to me the slaves of Allah. I am a trustworthy Messenger to you.´
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 18
وَأَن لَّا تَعۡلُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِۖ إِنِّيٓ ءَاتِيكُم بِسُلۡطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٖ
And: ´Do not exalt yourselves above Allah. I come to you with clear authority
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 19
وَإِنِّي عُذۡتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمۡ أَن تَرۡجُمُونِ
I have sought refuge with my Lord and your Lord against your stoning me
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 20
وَإِن لَّمۡ تُؤۡمِنُواْ لِي فَٱعۡتَزِلُونِ
If you do not have iman in me, then at least leave me alone.´
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 21
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوۡمٞ مُّجۡرِمُونَ
He called out to his Lord, ´These are evildoing people.´
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 22
فَأَسۡرِ بِعِبَادِي لَيۡلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
´Set out with My slaves by night. You will certainly be pursued
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 23
وَٱتۡرُكِ ٱلۡبَحۡرَ رَهۡوًاۖ إِنَّهُمۡ جُندٞ مُّغۡرَقُونَ
Leave the sea divided as it is. They are an army who will be drowned.´
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 24
كَمۡ تَرَكُواْ مِن جَنَّـٰتٖ وَعُيُونٖ
How many gardens and fountains they left behind
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 25
وَزُرُوعٖ وَمَقَامٖ كَرِيمٖ
and ripe crops and noble residences
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 26
وَنَعۡمَةٖ كَانُواْ فِيهَا فَٰكِهِينَ
What comfort and ease they had delighted in
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 27
كَذَٰلِكَۖ وَأَوۡرَثۡنَٰهَا قَوۡمًا ءَاخَرِينَ
So it was. Yet We bequeathed these things to another people
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 28
فَمَا بَكَتۡ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَمَا كَانُواْ مُنظَرِينَ
Neither heaven nor earth shed any tears for them and they were granted no reprieve
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 29
وَلَقَدۡ نَجَّيۡنَا بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ مِنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡمُهِينِ
We rescued the tribe of Israel from the humiliating punishment
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 30
مِن فِرۡعَوۡنَۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَالِيٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ
from Pharaoh — he was haughty, one of the profligate
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 31
وَلَقَدِ ٱخۡتَرۡنَٰهُمۡ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمٍ عَلَى ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
We chose them knowingly above all other people
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 32
وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَـٰٓؤٞاْ مُّبِينٌ
and We gave them Signs containing a clear trial
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 33
إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَيَقُولُونَ
These people say
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 34
إِنۡ هِيَ إِلَّا مَوۡتَتُنَا ٱلۡأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ
´There is nothing more than our first death. We will not be raised up a second time
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 35
فَأۡتُواْ بِـَٔابَآئِنَآ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ
Bring us our fathers if you are telling the truth.´
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 36
أَهُمۡ خَيۡرٌ أَمۡ قَوۡمُ تُبَّعٖ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَٰهُمۡۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ مُجۡرِمِينَ
Are they better or the people of Tubba´ and those before them whom We destroyed? They were certainly evildoers
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 37
وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا لَٰعِبِينَ
We did not create the heavens and the earth and everything between them as a game
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 38
مَا خَلَقۡنَٰهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ
We did not create them except with truth but most of them do not know it
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 39
إِنَّ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ مِيقَٰتُهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ
The Day of Decision will be their appointment all together
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 40
يَوۡمَ لَا يُغۡنِي مَوۡلًى عَن مَّوۡلٗى شَيۡـٔٗا وَلَا هُمۡ يُنصَرُونَ
the Day when friends will be of no use at all to one another, and they will not be helped —
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 41
إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
except for those Allah has mercy on. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 42
إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ ٱلزَّقُّومِ
The Tree of az-Zaqqum
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 43
طَعَامُ ٱلۡأَثِيمِ
is the food of the wicked
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 44
كَٱلۡمُهۡلِ يَغۡلِي فِي ٱلۡبُطُونِ
seething in the belly like molten brass
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 45
كَغَلۡيِ ٱلۡحَمِيمِ
as boiling water bubbles and seethes
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 46
خُذُوهُ فَٱعۡتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
´Seize him and drag him bodily into the middle of the Blazing Fire
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 47
ثُمَّ صُبُّواْ فَوۡقَ رَأۡسِهِۦ مِنۡ عَذَابِ ٱلۡحَمِيمِ
Then pour the punishment of boiling water on his head.´
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 48
ذُقۡ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡكَرِيمُ
´Taste that! You are the mighty one, the noble one
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 49
إِنَّ هَٰذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَمۡتَرُونَ
This is the very thing you used to doubt.´
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 50
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي مَقَامٍ أَمِينٖ
The people who have taqwa will be in a safe place
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 51
فِي جَنَّـٰتٖ وَعُيُونٖ
amid gardens and fountains
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 52
يَلۡبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٖ وَإِسۡتَبۡرَقٖ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ
wearing fine silk and rich brocade, face to face with one another
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 53
كَذَٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجۡنَٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٖ
So it will be. We will marry them to dark-eyed maidens
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 54
يَدۡعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَٰكِهَةٍ ءَامِنِينَ
They will call there for fruit of every kind, in complete security
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 55
لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا ٱلۡمَوۡتَ إِلَّا ٱلۡمَوۡتَةَ ٱلۡأُولَىٰۖ وَوَقَىٰهُمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
They will not taste any death there — except for the first one. He will safeguard them from the punishment of the Blazing Fire
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 56
فَضۡلٗا مِّن رَّبِّكَۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ
A favour from your Lord. That is the Great Victory
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 57
فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرۡنَٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
We have made it easy in your own tongue so that hopefully they will pay heed
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 58
فَٱرۡتَقِبۡ إِنَّهُم مُّرۡتَقِبُونَ
So watch and wait. They too are waiting
Surah Ad-Dukhan, Verse 59
