Surah At-tur - English Translation by Ali Bakhtiari Nejad
وَٱلطُّورِ
By the mountain (Mount Sinai)
Surah At-tur, Verse 1
وَكِتَٰبٖ مَّسۡطُورٖ
and by a written book
Surah At-tur, Verse 2
فِي رَقّٖ مَّنشُورٖ
in unrolled scroll
Surah At-tur, Verse 3
وَٱلۡبَيۡتِ ٱلۡمَعۡمُورِ
and by the thriving (and frequented) house
Surah At-tur, Verse 4
وَٱلسَّقۡفِ ٱلۡمَرۡفُوعِ
and by the raised roof
Surah At-tur, Verse 5
وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ ٱلۡمَسۡجُورِ
and by the blazing (and swollen) sea
Surah At-tur, Verse 6
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٞ
your Master’s punishment is certainly a reality
Surah At-tur, Verse 7
مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٖ
No one (and nothing) can repel it
Surah At-tur, Verse 8
يَوۡمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوۡرٗا
A day when the sky swings back and forth
Surah At-tur, Verse 9
وَتَسِيرُ ٱلۡجِبَالُ سَيۡرٗا
and the mountains move about, traveling
Surah At-tur, Verse 10
فَوَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
woe to the deniers on that day
Surah At-tur, Verse 11
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ فِي خَوۡضٖ يَلۡعَبُونَ
those playing around in useless talk
Surah At-tur, Verse 12
يَوۡمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا
A day when they are forcefully pushed into fire of hell
Surah At-tur, Verse 13
هَٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِي كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ
This is the fire that you were denying it
Surah At-tur, Verse 14
أَفَسِحۡرٌ هَٰذَآ أَمۡ أَنتُمۡ لَا تُبۡصِرُونَ
So is this a magic or you do not see
Surah At-tur, Verse 15
ٱصۡلَوۡهَا فَٱصۡبِرُوٓاْ أَوۡ لَا تَصۡبِرُواْ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيۡكُمۡۖ إِنَّمَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ
Enter (and burn in) it, it is the same to you whether you are patient or you are not patient, you are only penalized for what you used to do
Surah At-tur, Verse 16
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّـٰتٖ وَنَعِيمٖ
Indeed those who control themselves are in gardens and in happiness
Surah At-tur, Verse 17
فَٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ وَوَقَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Enjoying because of what their Master gave them and that their Master protected them from punishment of the hellfire
Surah At-tur, Verse 18
كُلُواْ وَٱشۡرَبُواْ هَنِيٓـَٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ
Eat and drink joyfully because of what you were doing
Surah At-tur, Verse 19
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مَّصۡفُوفَةٖۖ وَزَوَّجۡنَٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٖ
Leaning on couches lined up in rows, and We marry them to appealing girls with beautiful eyes
Surah At-tur, Verse 20
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَٱتَّبَعَتۡهُمۡ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَٰنٍ أَلۡحَقۡنَا بِهِمۡ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمۡ وَمَآ أَلَتۡنَٰهُم مِّنۡ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَيۡءٖۚ كُلُّ ٱمۡرِيِٕۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٞ
And those who believed and their descendants who followed them in belief, We join their descendants with them and We do not reduce anything from their works. Every person is bound by what he did
Surah At-tur, Verse 21
وَأَمۡدَدۡنَٰهُم بِفَٰكِهَةٖ وَلَحۡمٖ مِّمَّا يَشۡتَهُونَ
And We help them with whatever fruit and meat they desire
Surah At-tur, Verse 22
يَتَنَٰزَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأۡسٗا لَّا لَغۡوٞ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأۡثِيمٞ
They pass a cup to one another in there that there is nothing useless or sinful in it
Surah At-tur, Verse 23
۞وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ غِلۡمَانٞ لَّهُمۡ كَأَنَّهُمۡ لُؤۡلُؤٞ مَّكۡنُونٞ
And young male servants who are like hidden pearl go around them for (serving) them
Surah At-tur, Verse 24
وَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
And they turn to each other asking one another
Surah At-tur, Verse 25
قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبۡلُ فِيٓ أَهۡلِنَا مُشۡفِقِينَ
they say: indeed we were afraid among our people in the past
Surah At-tur, Verse 26
فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡنَا وَوَقَىٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ
but God favored upon us and protected us from the punishment of scorching wind
Surah At-tur, Verse 27
إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبۡلُ نَدۡعُوهُۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
Indeed we used to call on Him in the past. Indeed He is the good, the merciful
Surah At-tur, Verse 28
فَذَكِّرۡ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِنِعۡمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٖ وَلَا مَجۡنُونٍ
So remind (them) that by your Master’s favor you are not a fortune-teller or a madman
Surah At-tur, Verse 29
أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٞ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيۡبَ ٱلۡمَنُونِ
Or do they say: a poet, we wait for his time of misfortune (his death)
Surah At-tur, Verse 30
قُلۡ تَرَبَّصُواْ فَإِنِّي مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمُتَرَبِّصِينَ
Say: wait and I wait with you
Surah At-tur, Verse 31
أَمۡ تَأۡمُرُهُمۡ أَحۡلَٰمُهُم بِهَٰذَآۚ أَمۡ هُمۡ قَوۡمٞ طَاغُونَ
Or does their imagination (and dreams) order them to this, or are they disobedient people
Surah At-tur, Verse 32
أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥۚ بَل لَّا يُؤۡمِنُونَ
Or they say he made it up? No, but they do not believe
Surah At-tur, Verse 33
فَلۡيَأۡتُواْ بِحَدِيثٖ مِّثۡلِهِۦٓ إِن كَانُواْ صَٰدِقِينَ
So let them bring a saying like it (Quran), if they are truthful
Surah At-tur, Verse 34
أَمۡ خُلِقُواْ مِنۡ غَيۡرِ شَيۡءٍ أَمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡخَٰلِقُونَ
Or were they created from nothing, or are they the creators
Surah At-tur, Verse 35
أَمۡ خَلَقُواْ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَۚ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ
Or did they create the skies and the earth? No, they are not certain
Surah At-tur, Verse 36
أَمۡ عِندَهُمۡ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡمُصَۜيۡطِرُونَ
Or are the treasures of their Master with them, or are they in charge (of them)
Surah At-tur, Verse 37
أَمۡ لَهُمۡ سُلَّمٞ يَسۡتَمِعُونَ فِيهِۖ فَلۡيَأۡتِ مُسۡتَمِعُهُم بِسُلۡطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٍ
Or do they have a ladder that they listen by it? Then their listeners should bring a clear reason
Surah At-tur, Verse 38
أَمۡ لَهُ ٱلۡبَنَٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلۡبَنُونَ
Or does He have the daughters and you have the sons
Surah At-tur, Verse 39
أَمۡ تَسۡـَٔلُهُمۡ أَجۡرٗا فَهُم مِّن مَّغۡرَمٖ مُّثۡقَلُونَ
Or do you ask them for a wage, and they are weighed down by the debt
Surah At-tur, Verse 40
أَمۡ عِندَهُمُ ٱلۡغَيۡبُ فَهُمۡ يَكۡتُبُونَ
Or is the unseen with them, and they write it
Surah At-tur, Verse 41
أَمۡ يُرِيدُونَ كَيۡدٗاۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ هُمُ ٱلۡمَكِيدُونَ
Or do they want to plot? But those who disbelieved are plotted against
Surah At-tur, Verse 42
أَمۡ لَهُمۡ إِلَٰهٌ غَيۡرُ ٱللَّهِۚ سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ
Or do they have a god other than God? God is flawless of what they associate (with Him)
Surah At-tur, Verse 43
وَإِن يَرَوۡاْ كِسۡفٗا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ سَاقِطٗا يَقُولُواْ سَحَابٞ مَّرۡكُومٞ
And if they see a piece of the sky falling down, they say: piled up clouds
Surah At-tur, Verse 44
فَذَرۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُواْ يَوۡمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِي فِيهِ يُصۡعَقُونَ
So leave them until they meet their day, in which they are thunderstruck (and die)
Surah At-tur, Verse 45
يَوۡمَ لَا يُغۡنِي عَنۡهُمۡ كَيۡدُهُمۡ شَيۡـٔٗا وَلَا هُمۡ يُنصَرُونَ
A day that their plot is of no use to them at all, and they are not helped
Surah At-tur, Verse 46
وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ عَذَابٗا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ
And indeed for those who did wrong there is a punishment other than this, but most of them do not know
Surah At-tur, Verse 47
وَٱصۡبِرۡ لِحُكۡمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعۡيُنِنَاۖ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ
And be patient for your Master’s command, as you are under Our eyes, and glorify your Master with praise when you get up
Surah At-tur, Verse 48
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ فَسَبِّحۡهُ وَإِدۡبَٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ
And glorify Him part of the night and when the stars disappear
Surah At-tur, Verse 49
