Surah At-tur - English Translation by Tbirving
وَٱلطُّورِ
By the Mount
Surah At-tur, Verse 1
وَكِتَٰبٖ مَّسۡطُورٖ
and a Book recorded
Surah At-tur, Verse 2
فِي رَقّٖ مَّنشُورٖ
on unrolled parchment
Surah At-tur, Verse 3
وَٱلۡبَيۡتِ ٱلۡمَعۡمُورِ
and the thriving House
Surah At-tur, Verse 4
وَٱلسَّقۡفِ ٱلۡمَرۡفُوعِ
with the roof raised [over it]
Surah At-tur, Verse 5
وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ ٱلۡمَسۡجُورِ
and the swollen sea
Surah At-tur, Verse 6
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٞ
your Lord´s torment is bound to happen
Surah At-tur, Verse 7
مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٖ
No one will avert it
Surah At-tur, Verse 8
يَوۡمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوۡرٗا
on a day when the sky will shift about
Surah At-tur, Verse 9
وَتَسِيرُ ٱلۡجِبَالُ سَيۡرٗا
and the mountains travel around
Surah At-tur, Verse 10
فَوَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
It will be too bad on that day for rejectors
Surah At-tur, Verse 11
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ فِي خَوۡضٖ يَلۡعَبُونَ
who play around with speculation
Surah At-tur, Verse 12
يَوۡمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا
on the day they will be pushed firmly towards Hell fire
Surah At-tur, Verse 13
هَٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِي كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ
This is the Fire which you have been denying
Surah At-tur, Verse 14
أَفَسِحۡرٌ هَٰذَآ أَمۡ أَنتُمۡ لَا تُبۡصِرُونَ
Is this magic or don´t you notice anything
Surah At-tur, Verse 15
ٱصۡلَوۡهَا فَٱصۡبِرُوٓاْ أَوۡ لَا تَصۡبِرُواْ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيۡكُمۡۖ إِنَّمَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ
Roast in it! Whether you act patient or impatient, it will be all the same for you; you are merely being rewarded for what you have been doing
Surah At-tur, Verse 16
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّـٰتٖ وَنَعِيمٖ
The heedful will be in gardens and bliss
Surah At-tur, Verse 17
فَٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ وَوَقَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
delighted with whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has shielded them from the torment of Hades
Surah At-tur, Verse 18
كُلُواْ وَٱشۡرَبُواْ هَنِيٓـَٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ
´Eat and drink at leisure because of what you have been doing
Surah At-tur, Verse 19
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مَّصۡفُوفَةٖۖ وَزَوَّجۡنَٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٖ
Relaxing on couches all lined up, We will pair them off with dark-eyed damsels
Surah At-tur, Verse 20
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَٱتَّبَعَتۡهُمۡ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَٰنٍ أَلۡحَقۡنَا بِهِمۡ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمۡ وَمَآ أَلَتۡنَٰهُم مِّنۡ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَيۡءٖۚ كُلُّ ٱمۡرِيِٕۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٞ
We shall unite those who believe and whose offspring have followed them in faith with their offspring. We will not deprive them of any action of theirs in any way; each man is a pledge for whatever he has earned
Surah At-tur, Verse 21
وَأَمۡدَدۡنَٰهُم بِفَٰكِهَةٖ وَلَحۡمٖ مِّمَّا يَشۡتَهُونَ
We will spread out any fruit and meat for them such as they may desire
Surah At-tur, Verse 22
يَتَنَٰزَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأۡسٗا لَّا لَغۡوٞ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأۡثِيمٞ
They will compete for a cup there in which no idle talk nor any faultfinding lurks
Surah At-tur, Verse 23
۞وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ غِلۡمَانٞ لَّهُمۡ كَأَنَّهُمۡ لُؤۡلُؤٞ مَّكۡنُونٞ
Young men of theirs will pass around among them as if they were treasured pearls
Surah At-tur, Verse 24
وَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
Some of them will step forward to question one another
Surah At-tur, Verse 25
قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبۡلُ فِيٓ أَهۡلِنَا مُشۡفِقِينَ
they will say: "We were anxious about our family previously
Surah At-tur, Verse 26
فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡنَا وَوَقَىٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ
yet God has compensated us and shielded us from the torment of [Hell´s] scorching breath
Surah At-tur, Verse 27
إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبۡلُ نَدۡعُوهُۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
We have long since appealed to Him; He is the Virtue-granting, the Merciful
Surah At-tur, Verse 28
فَذَكِّرۡ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِنِعۡمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٖ وَلَا مَجۡنُونٍ
Remind, for by your Lord´s favor, you are no fortune-teller nor any madman
Surah At-tur, Verse 29
أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٞ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيۡبَ ٱلۡمَنُونِ
Or do they say: "[He´s] a poet! We´ll wait for some quirk of fate to [upset] him
Surah At-tur, Verse 30
قُلۡ تَرَبَّصُواْ فَإِنِّي مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمُتَرَبِّصِينَ
SAY: "Lie in wait; for I am waiting along with you
Surah At-tur, Verse 31
أَمۡ تَأۡمُرُهُمۡ أَحۡلَٰمُهُم بِهَٰذَآۚ أَمۡ هُمۡ قَوۡمٞ طَاغُونَ
Do their fancies order them to do this or are they arrogant folk
Surah At-tur, Verse 32
أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥۚ بَل لَّا يُؤۡمِنُونَ
Or do they say: "He has talked it all up"? Rather they do not believe
Surah At-tur, Verse 33
فَلۡيَأۡتُواْ بِحَدِيثٖ مِّثۡلِهِۦٓ إِن كَانُواْ صَٰدِقِينَ
Let them bring a report like it if they are so truthful
Surah At-tur, Verse 34
أَمۡ خُلِقُواْ مِنۡ غَيۡرِ شَيۡءٍ أَمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡخَٰلِقُونَ
Or were they created out of nothing, or are they their own creators
Surah At-tur, Verse 35
أَمۡ خَلَقُواْ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَۚ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ
Or did they create Heaven and Earth? Rather they will never be convinced
Surah At-tur, Verse 36
أَمۡ عِندَهُمۡ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡمُصَۜيۡطِرُونَ
Do they hold on to your Lord´s treasures, or are they even in charge of them
Surah At-tur, Verse 37
أَمۡ لَهُمۡ سُلَّمٞ يَسۡتَمِعُونَ فِيهِۖ فَلۡيَأۡتِ مُسۡتَمِعُهُم بِسُلۡطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٍ
Or have they some ladder from which to eavesdrop? Let their eavesdropper bring some clear authority
Surah At-tur, Verse 38
أَمۡ لَهُ ٱلۡبَنَٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلۡبَنُونَ
Or has He daughters while you have sons
Surah At-tur, Verse 39
أَمۡ تَسۡـَٔلُهُمۡ أَجۡرٗا فَهُم مِّن مَّغۡرَمٖ مُّثۡقَلُونَ
Or are you asking them for some fee so they will feel weighted down with debt
Surah At-tur, Verse 40
أَمۡ عِندَهُمُ ٱلۡغَيۡبُ فَهُمۡ يَكۡتُبُونَ
Do they have the Unseen which they are writing down
Surah At-tur, Verse 41
أَمۡ يُرِيدُونَ كَيۡدٗاۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ هُمُ ٱلۡمَكِيدُونَ
Or do they want [to hatch] some plot, while those who disbelieve are themselves being plotted against
Surah At-tur, Verse 42
أَمۡ لَهُمۡ إِلَٰهٌ غَيۡرُ ٱللَّهِۚ سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ
Or do they have some other deity instead of God [Alone]? Glory be to God ahead of anything they may associate [with Him]
Surah At-tur, Verse 43
وَإِن يَرَوۡاْ كِسۡفٗا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ سَاقِطٗا يَقُولُواْ سَحَابٞ مَّرۡكُومٞ
If they ever saw some object falling out of the sky, they would say: ´Some clouds have been piled up
Surah At-tur, Verse 44
فَذَرۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُواْ يَوۡمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِي فِيهِ يُصۡعَقُونَ
Leave them alone till they encounter their day in which they will be stunned
Surah At-tur, Verse 45
يَوۡمَ لَا يُغۡنِي عَنۡهُمۡ كَيۡدُهُمۡ شَيۡـٔٗا وَلَا هُمۡ يُنصَرُونَ
a day when their plotting will not help them out at all nor will they be supported
Surah At-tur, Verse 46
وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ عَذَابٗا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ
The ones who act unjustly will have torment beyond that, even though most of them do not realize it
Surah At-tur, Verse 47
وَٱصۡبِرۡ لِحُكۡمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعۡيُنِنَاۖ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ
Act patiently towards your Lord´s discretion since you are under Our eyes. Hymn your Lord´s praise whenever you arise
Surah At-tur, Verse 48
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ فَسَبِّحۡهُ وَإِدۡبَٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ
and at night glorify Him occasionally, and as the stars fade away
Surah At-tur, Verse 49
