ٱلۡحَآقَّةُ
The Undeniable
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 1
مَا ٱلۡحَآقَّةُ
What is the Undeniable
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 2
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡحَآقَّةُ
What will convey to you what the Undeniable is
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 3
كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ وَعَادُۢ بِٱلۡقَارِعَةِ
Thamud and ´Ad denied the Crushing Blow
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 4
فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهۡلِكُواْ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ
Thamud were destroyed by the Deafening Blast
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 5
وَأَمَّا عَادٞ فَأُهۡلِكُواْ بِرِيحٖ صَرۡصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٖ
´Ad were destroyed by a savage howling wind
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 6
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ سَبۡعَ لَيَالٖ وَثَمَٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومٗاۖ فَتَرَى ٱلۡقَوۡمَ فِيهَا صَرۡعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمۡ أَعۡجَازُ نَخۡلٍ خَاوِيَةٖ
Allah subjected them to it for seven whole nights and eight whole days without a break. You could see the people flattened in their homes just like the hollow stumps of uprooted palms
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 7
فَهَلۡ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٖ
Do you see any remnant of them left
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 8
وَجَآءَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَمَن قَبۡلَهُۥ وَٱلۡمُؤۡتَفِكَٰتُ بِٱلۡخَاطِئَةِ
Pharaoh and those before him and the Overturned Cities made a great mistake
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 9
فَعَصَوۡاْ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمۡ فَأَخَذَهُمۡ أَخۡذَةٗ رَّابِيَةً
They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord so He seized them in an ever-tightening grip
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 10
إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلۡمَآءُ حَمَلۡنَٰكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡجَارِيَةِ
When the waters rose We carried you in the ship
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 11
لِنَجۡعَلَهَا لَكُمۡ تَذۡكِرَةٗ وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٞ وَٰعِيَةٞ
to make it a reminder for you and something to be retained by retentive ears
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 12
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي ٱلصُّورِ نَفۡخَةٞ وَٰحِدَةٞ
So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 13
وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَٱلۡجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةٗ وَٰحِدَةٗ
and the earth and the mountains are lifted and crushed with a single blow
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 14
فَيَوۡمَئِذٖ وَقَعَتِ ٱلۡوَاقِعَةُ
On that Day, the Occurrence will occur
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 15
وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِيَ يَوۡمَئِذٖ وَاهِيَةٞ
and Heaven will be split apart, for that Day it will be very frail
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 16
وَٱلۡمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرۡجَآئِهَاۚ وَيَحۡمِلُ عَرۡشَ رَبِّكَ فَوۡقَهُمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ ثَمَٰنِيَةٞ
The angels will be gathered round its edge. On that Day, eight will bear the Throne of their Lord above their heads
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 17
يَوۡمَئِذٖ تُعۡرَضُونَ لَا تَخۡفَىٰ مِنكُمۡ خَافِيَةٞ
On that Day you will be exposed — no concealed act you did will stay concealed
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 18
فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقۡرَءُواْ كِتَٰبِيَهۡ
As for him who is given his Book in his right hand, he will say, ´Here, come and read my Book
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 19
إِنِّي ظَنَنتُ أَنِّي مُلَٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهۡ
I counted on meeting my Reckoning.´
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 20
فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٖ رَّاضِيَةٖ
He will have a very pleasant life
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 21
فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٖ
in an elevated Garden
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 22
قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٞ
its ripe fruit hanging close to hand
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 23
كُلُواْ وَٱشۡرَبُواْ هَنِيٓـَٔۢا بِمَآ أَسۡلَفۡتُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَيَّامِ ٱلۡخَالِيَةِ
´Eat and drink with relish for what you did before in days gone by!´
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 24
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَٰلَيۡتَنِي لَمۡ أُوتَ كِتَٰبِيَهۡ
But as for him who is given his Book in his left hand, he will say, ´If only I had not been given my Book
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 25
وَلَمۡ أَدۡرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهۡ
and had not known about my Reckoning
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 26
يَٰلَيۡتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلۡقَاضِيَةَ
If only death had really been the end
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 27
مَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنِّي مَالِيَهۡۜ
My wealth has been of no use to me
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 28
هَلَكَ عَنِّي سُلۡطَٰنِيَهۡ
My power has vanished.´
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 29
خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ
´Seize him and truss him up
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 30
ثُمَّ ٱلۡجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ
Then roast him in the Blazing Fire
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 31
ثُمَّ فِي سِلۡسِلَةٖ ذَرۡعُهَا سَبۡعُونَ ذِرَاعٗا فَٱسۡلُكُوهُ
Then bind him in a chain which is seventy cubits long
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 32
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
He used not to have iman in Allah the Magnificent
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 33
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ
nor did he urge the feeding of the poor
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 34
فَلَيۡسَ لَهُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ هَٰهُنَا حَمِيمٞ
Therefore here today he has no friend
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 35
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنۡ غِسۡلِينٖ
nor any food except exuding pus
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 36
لَّا يَأۡكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلۡخَٰطِـُٔونَ
which no one will eat except those who were in error.´
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 37
فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِمَا تُبۡصِرُونَ
I swear both by what you see
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 38
وَمَا لَا تُبۡصِرُونَ
and what you do not see
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 39
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُولٖ كَرِيمٖ
that this is the word of a noble Messenger
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 40
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَاعِرٖۚ قَلِيلٗا مَّا تُؤۡمِنُونَ
It is not the word of a poet — how little iman you have
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 41
وَلَا بِقَوۡلِ كَاهِنٖۚ قَلِيلٗا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ
Nor the word of a fortune-teller — how little heed you pay
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 42
تَنزِيلٞ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
It is a revelation from the Lord of all the worlds
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 43
وَلَوۡ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيۡنَا بَعۡضَ ٱلۡأَقَاوِيلِ
If he had made up any sayings and ascribed them to Us
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 44
لَأَخَذۡنَا مِنۡهُ بِٱلۡيَمِينِ
We would have seized him by force
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 45
ثُمَّ لَقَطَعۡنَا مِنۡهُ ٱلۡوَتِينَ
and then We would have cut off his life-blood
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 46
فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنۡ أَحَدٍ عَنۡهُ حَٰجِزِينَ
and not one of you could have protected him
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 47
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذۡكِرَةٞ لِّلۡمُتَّقِينَ
It is a reminder to the people with taqwa
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 48
وَإِنَّا لَنَعۡلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ
We know that some of you will deny it
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 49
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسۡرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
It is a cause of great distress to those who are kafir
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 50
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلۡيَقِينِ
And it is undeniably the Truth of Certainty
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 51
فَسَبِّحۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
Glorify then the name of your Lord, the Magnificent
Surah Al-Haaqqa, Verse 52
