Surah Ash-Shams - English Translation by Ali Bakhtiari Nejad
وَٱلشَّمۡسِ وَضُحَىٰهَا
By the sun and its glow
Surah Ash-Shams, Verse 1
وَٱلۡقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَىٰهَا
and by the moon when it follows it
Surah Ash-Shams, Verse 2
وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّىٰهَا
and by the day when it shows it
Surah Ash-Shams, Verse 3
وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا يَغۡشَىٰهَا
and by the night when it covers it
Surah Ash-Shams, Verse 4
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنَىٰهَا
and by the sky and what built it
Surah Ash-Shams, Verse 5
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا طَحَىٰهَا
and the earth and what extended it
Surah Ash-Shams, Verse 6
وَنَفۡسٖ وَمَا سَوَّىٰهَا
and by the soul and what shaped it
Surah Ash-Shams, Verse 7
فَأَلۡهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقۡوَىٰهَا
and inspired it to its immoralities and its self control
Surah Ash-Shams, Verse 8
قَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ مَن زَكَّىٰهَا
(that) anyone who purifies it, has succeeded
Surah Ash-Shams, Verse 9
وَقَدۡ خَابَ مَن دَسَّىٰهَا
and anyone who corrupts it, has failed
Surah Ash-Shams, Verse 10
كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ بِطَغۡوَىٰهَآ
Thamud denied with their rebellion
Surah Ash-Shams, Verse 11
إِذِ ٱنۢبَعَثَ أَشۡقَىٰهَا
When the most nasty of them rose up
Surah Ash-Shams, Verse 12
فَقَالَ لَهُمۡ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ نَاقَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَسُقۡيَٰهَا
then God's messenger said to them: (that is) God's female camel and her share of drink
Surah Ash-Shams, Verse 13
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمۡدَمَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ رَبُّهُم بِذَنۢبِهِمۡ فَسَوَّىٰهَا
Then they denied him and killed her, then their Master fully punished them for their sins and leveled them (to the ground)
Surah Ash-Shams, Verse 14
وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقۡبَٰهَا
and He was not afraid of its outcome
Surah Ash-Shams, Verse 15
