Surah Al-Lail - English Translation by Abdul Hye
وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا يَغۡشَىٰ
By the night, when it covers (with darkness)
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 1
وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ
and by the day, when it appears in brightness
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 2
وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰٓ
By Him Who created the male and the female
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 3
إِنَّ سَعۡيَكُمۡ لَشَتَّىٰ
surely, your efforts are indeed diverse (different purpose)
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 4
فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أَعۡطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ
As for the one who gives (in charity), fears Him
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 5
وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ
and believes in the best (deed)
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 6
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلۡيُسۡرَىٰ
We will make smooth for him (the path) of ease
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 7
وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰ
As for the one who is miser and thinks itself self-sufficient
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 8
وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ
and denies the best (deed)
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 9
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلۡعُسۡرَىٰ
We will make smooth for him (the path) for evil
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 10
وَمَا يُغۡنِي عَنۡهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ
Think! what its wealth will benefit when one goes down (doomed)
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 11
إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا لَلۡهُدَىٰ
Surely! (It is) on Us to give guidance
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 12
وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلۡأٓخِرَةَ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰ
and surely, to Us belong the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world)
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 13
فَأَنذَرۡتُكُمۡ نَارٗا تَلَظَّىٰ
Therefore, I warn you of the blazing fire (of hell)
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 14
لَا يَصۡلَىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلۡأَشۡقَى
In which none will burn except the most wretched
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 15
ٱلَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
who denies (the truth) and turns away
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 16
وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلۡأَتۡقَى
But the pious will be far removed from it (hell)
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 17
ٱلَّذِي يُؤۡتِي مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ
the one who spends his wealth (in charity) that may grow (for self-purification)
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 18
وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعۡمَةٖ تُجۡزَىٰٓ
who has in mind no favor from anyone to be paid back
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 19
إِلَّا ٱبۡتِغَآءَ وَجۡهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ
except to seek the pleasure of his Lord, the High
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 20
وَلَسَوۡفَ يَرۡضَىٰ
Such person will be pleased (with Allah when he will enter Paradise)
Surah Al-Lail, Verse 21
