Surah Ar-Rahman - English Translation by Ali Bakhtiari Nejad
ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ
The beneficent
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 1
عَلَّمَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ
taught the Quran
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 2
خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ
created the human being
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 3
عَلَّمَهُ ٱلۡبَيَانَ
taught him the speech
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 4
ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ بِحُسۡبَانٖ
The sun and the moon with precisely calculated (courses)
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 5
وَٱلنَّجۡمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسۡجُدَانِ
The herb (or the star) and the tree both humble themselves (before Him)
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 6
وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلۡمِيزَانَ
And He raised the sky and set up the balance
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 7
أَلَّا تَطۡغَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡمِيزَانِ
that you do not outdo the balance
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 8
وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلۡوَزۡنَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَلَا تُخۡسِرُواْ ٱلۡمِيزَانَ
And perform the weighing with justice and do not make the scale light
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 9
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلۡأَنَامِ
And He set up the earth for the human race
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 10
فِيهَا فَٰكِهَةٞ وَٱلنَّخۡلُ ذَاتُ ٱلۡأَكۡمَامِ
in it there are fruits and palm trees having coverings
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 11
وَٱلۡحَبُّ ذُو ٱلۡعَصۡفِ وَٱلرَّيۡحَانُ
and the seed having outer shell, and the fragrant herbs
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 12
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 13
خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَٰلٖ كَٱلۡفَخَّارِ
He created the human being from dried clay like pottery clay
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 14
وَخَلَقَ ٱلۡجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجٖ مِّن نَّارٖ
And He created the Jinn from flame of a fire
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 15
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 16
رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقَيۡنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَغۡرِبَيۡنِ
Master of the two easts and Master of the two wests
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 17
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 18
مَرَجَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَيۡنِ يَلۡتَقِيَانِ
He made the two seas flow freely to meet
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 19
بَيۡنَهُمَا بَرۡزَخٞ لَّا يَبۡغِيَانِ
there is a barrier between them that they do not go beyond
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 20
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 21
يَخۡرُجُ مِنۡهُمَا ٱللُّؤۡلُؤُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ
Pearl and coral comes out of both of them
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 22
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 23
وَلَهُ ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِي ٱلۡبَحۡرِ كَٱلۡأَعۡلَٰمِ
And the sailing ships raised in the sea like the mountains/road signs belong to Him
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 24
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 25
كُلُّ مَنۡ عَلَيۡهَا فَانٖ
Everyone on it (the earth) is mortal
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 26
وَيَبۡقَىٰ وَجۡهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلۡجَلَٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ
while your Master's essence, having the majesty and the nobility remains (forever)
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 27
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 28
يَسۡـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ كُلَّ يَوۡمٍ هُوَ فِي شَأۡنٖ
Everyone in the skies and on the earth ask Him (for their needs). Every day He is in some affair
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 29
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 30
سَنَفۡرُغُ لَكُمۡ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ
We are going to attend to you, the two important beings (humans and Jinn)
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 31
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 32
يَٰمَعۡشَرَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُمۡ أَن تَنفُذُواْ مِنۡ أَقۡطَارِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنفُذُواْۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلۡطَٰنٖ
You, group of Jinn and humans, if you can cross the boundaries of the skies and the earth then cross. You cannot cross except with an authorization
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 33
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 34
يُرۡسَلُ عَلَيۡكُمَا شُوَاظٞ مِّن نَّارٖ وَنُحَاسٞ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ
A flame of fire and melted copper will be sent upon both of you, and you cannot help/defend yourselves
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 35
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 36
فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتۡ وَرۡدَةٗ كَٱلدِّهَانِ
And when the sky splits and it becomes red like the red rawhide (or red hot oil)
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 37
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 38
فَيَوۡمَئِذٖ لَّا يُسۡـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسٞ وَلَا جَآنّٞ
On that day no human being or Jinn is asked about his sin
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 39
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 40
يُعۡرَفُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ بِسِيمَٰهُمۡ فَيُؤۡخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِي وَٱلۡأَقۡدَامِ
The guilty ones are recognized by their appearance, then they are taken by (the hair lock of) the forehead and the feet
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 41
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 42
هَٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِي يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ
This is hell that the guilty ones deny it
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 43
يَطُوفُونَ بَيۡنَهَا وَبَيۡنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانٖ
They go around between it and between hot boiling water
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 44
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 45
وَلِمَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ
And there are two gardens for anyone who fears his Master’s position
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 46
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 47
ذَوَاتَآ أَفۡنَانٖ
Two (gardens) having a variety (of trees)
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 48
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 49
فِيهِمَا عَيۡنَانِ تَجۡرِيَانِ
There are two springs flowing in both of them
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 50
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 51
فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَٰكِهَةٖ زَوۡجَانِ
There are pairs of every fruits in both of them
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 52
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 53
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشِۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنۡ إِسۡتَبۡرَقٖۚ وَجَنَى ٱلۡجَنَّتَيۡنِ دَانٖ
Leaning on cushions/beds inside of which is from heavy silk, and fruits of the two gardens are within reach
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 54
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 55
فِيهِنَّ قَٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ لَمۡ يَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسٞ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَآنّٞ
And there are girls with restrained glances in them whom no human being or Jinn had sex with them before them
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 56
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 57
كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلۡيَاقُوتُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ
They are like the ruby and the coral
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 58
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 59
هَلۡ جَزَآءُ ٱلۡإِحۡسَٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلۡإِحۡسَٰنُ
Is reward of the goodness anything except goodness
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 60
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 61
وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ
And beside those two are two (other) gardens
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 62
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 63
مُدۡهَآمَّتَانِ
Both dark green (because of lush vegetation)
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 64
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 65
فِيهِمَا عَيۡنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ
There are two springs gushing out in both of them
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 66
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 67
فِيهِمَا فَٰكِهَةٞ وَنَخۡلٞ وَرُمَّانٞ
There are fruits and date and pomegranate in both of them
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 68
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 69
فِيهِنَّ خَيۡرَٰتٌ حِسَانٞ
There are good and beautiful females in both of them
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 70
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 71
حُورٞ مَّقۡصُورَٰتٞ فِي ٱلۡخِيَامِ
Appealing girls restricted in the pavilions
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 72
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 73
لَمۡ يَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسٞ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَآنّٞ
No human being or Jinn had sex with them before them
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 74
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 75
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفۡرَفٍ خُضۡرٖ وَعَبۡقَرِيٍّ حِسَانٖ
Leaning on green pillows and fine colorful carpets
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 76
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Master’s favors do you deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 77
تَبَٰرَكَ ٱسۡمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي ٱلۡجَلَٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ
Blessed is the name of your Master, having the majesty and the nobility
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 78
