ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ
The God of MERCY
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 1
عَلَّمَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ
hath taught the Koran
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 2
خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ
Hath created man
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 3
عَلَّمَهُ ٱلۡبَيَانَ
Hath taught him articulate speech
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 4
ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ بِحُسۡبَانٖ
The Sun and the Moon have each their times
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 5
وَٱلنَّجۡمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسۡجُدَانِ
And the plants and the trees bend in adoration
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 6
وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلۡمِيزَانَ
And the Heaven, He hath reared it on high, and hath appointed the balance
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 7
أَلَّا تَطۡغَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡمِيزَانِ
That in the balance ye should not transgress
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 8
وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلۡوَزۡنَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَلَا تُخۡسِرُواْ ٱلۡمِيزَانَ
Weigh therefore with fairness, and scant not the balance
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 9
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلۡأَنَامِ
And the Earth, He hath prepared it for the living tribes
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 10
فِيهَا فَٰكِهَةٞ وَٱلنَّخۡلُ ذَاتُ ٱلۡأَكۡمَامِ
Therein are fruits, and the palms with sheathed clusters
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 11
وَٱلۡحَبُّ ذُو ٱلۡعَصۡفِ وَٱلرَّيۡحَانُ
And the grain with its husk, and the fragrant plants
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 12
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 13
خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَٰلٖ كَٱلۡفَخَّارِ
He created man of clay like that of the potter
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 14
وَخَلَقَ ٱلۡجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجٖ مِّن نَّارٖ
And He created the djinn of pure fire
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 15
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which then of the bounties, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 16
رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقَيۡنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَغۡرِبَيۡنِ
He is the Lord of the East, He is the Lord of the West
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 17
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 18
مَرَجَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَيۡنِ يَلۡتَقِيَانِ
He hath let loose the two seas which meet each other
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 19
بَيۡنَهُمَا بَرۡزَخٞ لَّا يَبۡغِيَانِ
Yet between them is a barrier which they overpass not
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 20
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 21
يَخۡرُجُ مِنۡهُمَا ٱللُّؤۡلُؤُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ
From each he bringeth up pearls both great and small
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 22
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 23
وَلَهُ ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِي ٱلۡبَحۡرِ كَٱلۡأَعۡلَٰمِ
And His are the ships towering up at sea like mountains
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 24
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 25
كُلُّ مَنۡ عَلَيۡهَا فَانٖ
All on the earth shall pass away
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 26
وَيَبۡقَىٰ وَجۡهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلۡجَلَٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ
But the face of thy Lord shall abide resplendent with majesty and glory
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 27
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 28
يَسۡـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ كُلَّ يَوۡمٍ هُوَ فِي شَأۡنٖ
To Him maketh suit all that is in the Heaven and the Earth. Every day doth some new work employ Him
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 29
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 30
سَنَفۡرُغُ لَكُمۡ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ
We will find leisure to judge you, O ye men and djinn
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 31
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 32
يَٰمَعۡشَرَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُمۡ أَن تَنفُذُواْ مِنۡ أَقۡطَارِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنفُذُواْۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلۡطَٰنٖ
O company of djinn and men, if ye can overpass the bounds of the Heavens and the Earth, then overpass them. But by our leave only shall ye overpass them
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 33
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 34
يُرۡسَلُ عَلَيۡكُمَا شُوَاظٞ مِّن نَّارٖ وَنُحَاسٞ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ
A bright flash of fire shall be hurled at you both, and molten brass, and ye shall not defend yourselves from it
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 35
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 36
فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتۡ وَرۡدَةٗ كَٱلدِّهَانِ
When the Heaven shall be cleft asunder, and become rose red, like stained leather
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 37
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 38
فَيَوۡمَئِذٖ لَّا يُسۡـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسٞ وَلَا جَآنّٞ
On that day shall neither man nor djinn be asked of his sin
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 39
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 40
يُعۡرَفُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ بِسِيمَٰهُمۡ فَيُؤۡخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِي وَٱلۡأَقۡدَامِ
By their tokens shall the sinners be known, and they shall be seized by their forelocks and their feet
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 41
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 42
هَٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِي يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ
This is Hell which sinners treated as a lie
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 43
يَطُوفُونَ بَيۡنَهَا وَبَيۡنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانٖ
To and fro shall they pass between it and the boiling water
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 44
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 45
وَلِمَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ
But for those who dread the majesty of their Lord shall be two gardens
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 46
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 47
ذَوَاتَآ أَفۡنَانٖ
With o'erbranching trees in each
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 48
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 49
فِيهِمَا عَيۡنَانِ تَجۡرِيَانِ
In each two fountains flowing
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 50
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 51
فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَٰكِهَةٖ زَوۡجَانِ
In each two kinds of every fruit
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 52
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 53
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشِۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنۡ إِسۡتَبۡرَقٖۚ وَجَنَى ٱلۡجَنَّتَيۡنِ دَانٖ
On couches with linings of brocade shall they recline, and the fruit of the two gardens shall be within easy reach
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 54
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 55
فِيهِنَّ قَٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ لَمۡ يَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسٞ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَآنّٞ
Therein shall be the damsels with retiring glances, whom nor man nor djinn hath touched before them
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 56
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 57
كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلۡيَاقُوتُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ
Like jacynths and pearls
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 58
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 59
هَلۡ جَزَآءُ ٱلۡإِحۡسَٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلۡإِحۡسَٰنُ
Shall the reward of good be aught but good
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 60
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 61
وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ
And beside these shall be two other gardens
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 62
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 63
مُدۡهَآمَّتَانِ
Of a dark green
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 64
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 65
فِيهِمَا عَيۡنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ
With gushing fountains in each
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 66
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 67
فِيهِمَا فَٰكِهَةٞ وَنَخۡلٞ وَرُمَّانٞ
In each, fruits and the palm and the pomegranate
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 68
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 69
فِيهِنَّ خَيۡرَٰتٌ حِسَانٞ
In each, the fair, the beauteous ones
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 70
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 71
حُورٞ مَّقۡصُورَٰتٞ فِي ٱلۡخِيَامِ
With large dark eyeballs, kept close in their pavilions
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 72
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 73
لَمۡ يَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسٞ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَآنّٞ
Whom man hath never touched, nor any djinn
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 74
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 75
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفۡرَفٍ خُضۡرٖ وَعَبۡقَرِيٍّ حِسَانٖ
Their spouses on soft green cushions and on beautiful carpets shall recline
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 76
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will ye twain deny? [RODWELL: Which, etc]
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 77
تَبَٰرَكَ ٱسۡمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي ٱلۡجَلَٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ
Blessed be the name of thy Lord, full of majesty and glory
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 78
