Surah Ar-Rahman - English Translation by Mir Aneesuddin

عَلَّمَهُ ٱلۡبَيَانَ

He taught him to express (by action, speech, writing etc)
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 4

ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ بِحُسۡبَانٖ

The sun and the moon (function) according to a calculation
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 5

وَٱلنَّجۡمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسۡجُدَانِ

And the herbs and the trees bow down (to Him)
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 6

وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلۡمِيزَانَ

And the sky, He has raised it, and He has set the balance
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 7

أَلَّا تَطۡغَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡمِيزَانِ

(by ordering) that: Do not exceed (the limits) in the balance
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 8

وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلۡوَزۡنَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَلَا تُخۡسِرُواْ ٱلۡمِيزَانَ

and establish the balance in a just manner and do not reduce the balance
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 9

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلۡأَنَامِ

And the earth He has layed down for the cattle (living beings)
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 10

فِيهَا فَٰكِهَةٞ وَٱلنَّخۡلُ ذَاتُ ٱلۡأَكۡمَامِ

Therein are fruits and palm trees (with) sheathed (dates)
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 11

وَٱلۡحَبُّ ذُو ٱلۡعَصۡفِ وَٱلرَّيۡحَانُ

and grains with husk and the scented herb
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 12

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 13

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَٰلٖ كَٱلۡفَخَّارِ

He created man from mud, like (that used in) pottery
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 14

وَخَلَقَ ٱلۡجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجٖ مِّن نَّارٖ

And He created the jinn from (the heat wave) let free from fire
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 15

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 16

رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقَيۡنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَغۡرِبَيۡنِ

Lord of the two places/times of sun rise and Lord of the two places/times of sun set (at the summer and winter solstice)
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 17

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 18

مَرَجَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَيۡنِ يَلۡتَقِيَانِ

He let free the two seas (which) meet
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 19

بَيۡنَهُمَا بَرۡزَخٞ لَّا يَبۡغِيَانِ

(but) between them is a barrier which they do not pass
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 20

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 21

يَخۡرُجُ مِنۡهُمَا ٱللُّؤۡلُؤُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ

There come out from both of them pearls and corals
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 22

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 23

وَلَهُ ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِي ٱلۡبَحۡرِ كَٱلۡأَعۡلَٰمِ

And His are the ships, with elevated sails, (sailing) in the sea, like mountains
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 24

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 25

كُلُّ مَنۡ عَلَيۡهَا فَانٖ

All who are on it will perish
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 26

وَيَبۡقَىٰ وَجۡهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلۡجَلَٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ

and there will remain the Face (Person) of your Lord, Possessor of glory and honour
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 27

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 28

يَسۡـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ كُلَّ يَوۡمٍ هُوَ فِي شَأۡنٖ

Whoever is in the skies and the earth asks from Him, everyday (each moment) He is in a state (of intending something or implementing some affair)
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 29

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 30

سَنَفۡرُغُ لَكُمۡ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ

We will free (Ourselves) for you, O you two weighty (things)
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 31

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 32

يَٰمَعۡشَرَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُمۡ أَن تَنفُذُواْ مِنۡ أَقۡطَارِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنفُذُواْۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلۡطَٰنٖ

O assembly of jinn and mankind! if you are able to pass through the boundaries (or spheres) of the skies and the earth, then pass through, you will not pass through except with authority
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 33

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 34

يُرۡسَلُ عَلَيۡكُمَا شُوَاظٞ مِّن نَّارٖ وَنُحَاسٞ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ

Flames of fire (without smoke) and hot smoke (without flames) will be sent on you both, then you will not be able to defend
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 35

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 36

فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتۡ وَرۡدَةٗ كَٱلدِّهَانِ

So when the sky splits and becomes red like red hide
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 37

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 38

فَيَوۡمَئِذٖ لَّا يُسۡـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسٞ وَلَا جَآنّٞ

So on that day neither man nor jinn will be questioned about his sin
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 39

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 40

يُعۡرَفُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ بِسِيمَٰهُمۡ فَيُؤۡخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِي وَٱلۡأَقۡدَامِ

The criminals will be recognised by their marks, so they will be caught by the forelocks and feet
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 41

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 42

هَٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِي يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ

This is hell which the criminals denied
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 43

يَطُوفُونَ بَيۡنَهَا وَبَيۡنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانٖ

they will go round between it and between hot boiling water
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 44

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 45

وَلِمَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ

And for him who feared to stand before his Lord are two gardens
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 46

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 47

ذَوَاتَآ أَفۡنَانٖ

Having in them various kinds
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 48

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 49

فِيهِمَا عَيۡنَانِ تَجۡرِيَانِ

In both of them are flowing springs
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 50

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 51

فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَٰكِهَةٖ زَوۡجَانِ

In both of them every (kind) of fruit will be in two pairs
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 52

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

So which of the bounties of your Lord will you both deny
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 53

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشِۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنۡ إِسۡتَبۡرَقٖۚ وَجَنَى ٱلۡجَنَّتَيۡنِ دَانٖ

Reclining on spreadings (like bed sheets, carpets etc.) the inner linings of which will be of silk brocade, and the fruits of the two gardens will be near
Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 54
