Surah Al-Masadd - English Translation by Dr Kamal Omar
تَبَّتۡ يَدَآ أَبِي لَهَبٖ وَتَبَّ
Broke up the two hands of Abu Lahab [Father of the flame (of opposition; or the most furious opponent of Islam)] and he broke up (completely)
Surah Al-Masadd, Verse 1
مَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ
Did not benefit him his wealth and whatever he earned (through his concepts, beliefs and actions)
Surah Al-Masadd, Verse 2
سَيَصۡلَىٰ نَارٗا ذَاتَ لَهَبٖ
Very soon he reaches a Fire of (furious) flame
Surah Al-Masadd, Verse 3
وَٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلۡحَطَبِ
as well as his wife (being) a she-carrier for the wood-fuel (to further boost up the Fire)
Surah Al-Masadd, Verse 4
فِي جِيدِهَا حَبۡلٞ مِّن مَّسَدِۭ
In her neck (would be rolled) a twisted rope made of palm-fibre (which will help her drive to the site of Fire)
