Surah Adh-Dhariyat - English Translation by Rowwad Translation Center
وَٱلذَّـٰرِيَٰتِ ذَرۡوٗا
By the winds that scatters [dust]
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 1
فَٱلۡحَٰمِلَٰتِ وِقۡرٗا
and by the heavily-laden clouds with water
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 2
فَٱلۡجَٰرِيَٰتِ يُسۡرٗا
and by the ships that sail with ease
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 3
فَٱلۡمُقَسِّمَٰتِ أَمۡرًا
and by the angels who distribute [blessings] by His command
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 4
إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَصَادِقٞ
Indeed, what you are promised is true
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 5
وَإِنَّ ٱلدِّينَ لَوَٰقِعٞ
and the Judgment will surely come to pass
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 6
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلۡحُبُكِ
By the heaven with its pathways
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 7
إِنَّكُمۡ لَفِي قَوۡلٖ مُّخۡتَلِفٖ
Indeed, you [Makkans] have conflicting views [about the truth]
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 8
يُؤۡفَكُ عَنۡهُ مَنۡ أُفِكَ
He who is diverted from it is destined to be diverted
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 9
قُتِلَ ٱلۡخَرَّـٰصُونَ
Doomed are those who base their beliefs on conjecture
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 10
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ فِي غَمۡرَةٖ سَاهُونَ
those who are steeped in ignorance heedlessly
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 11
يَسۡـَٔلُونَ أَيَّانَ يَوۡمُ ٱلدِّينِ
They ask [mockingly], “When is the Day of Judgment?”
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 12
يَوۡمَ هُمۡ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ يُفۡتَنُونَ
It is the Day when they will be punished by the Fire
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 13
ذُوقُواْ فِتۡنَتَكُمۡ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ
[It will be said], “Taste your punishment! This is what you were seeking to hasten.”
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 14
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّـٰتٖ وَعُيُونٍ
Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and springs
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 15
ءَاخِذِينَ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ قَبۡلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُحۡسِنِينَ
receiving what their Lord will give them, for they were indeed doers of good beforehand
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 16
كَانُواْ قَلِيلٗا مِّنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ مَا يَهۡجَعُونَ
They used to sleep but little at night
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 17
وَبِٱلۡأَسۡحَارِ هُمۡ يَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَ
and before dawn they would seek forgiveness
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 18
وَفِيٓ أَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡ حَقّٞ لِّلسَّآئِلِ وَٱلۡمَحۡرُومِ
and in their wealth, there was a share for the beggar and the destitute
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 19
وَفِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ءَايَٰتٞ لِّلۡمُوقِنِينَ
On earth there are signs for those who are certain in faith
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 20
وَفِيٓ أَنفُسِكُمۡۚ أَفَلَا تُبۡصِرُونَ
and also in your own selves. Do you not see
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 21
وَفِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ رِزۡقُكُمۡ وَمَا تُوعَدُونَ
And in the heaven is your provision and all that you are promised
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 22
فَوَرَبِّ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِنَّهُۥ لَحَقّٞ مِّثۡلَ مَآ أَنَّكُمۡ تَنطِقُونَ
By the Lord of the heaven and earth, this [resurrection] is certainly as true as the fact that you can speak
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 23
هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ضَيۡفِ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ ٱلۡمُكۡرَمِينَ
Has there come to you the story of Abraham’s honored guests
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 24
إِذۡ دَخَلُواْ عَلَيۡهِ فَقَالُواْ سَلَٰمٗاۖ قَالَ سَلَٰمٞ قَوۡمٞ مُّنكَرُونَ
When they came to him and said, “Peace.” He said, “Upon you be peace.” [saying to himself] “Unknown people!”
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 25
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ فَجَآءَ بِعِجۡلٖ سَمِينٖ
Then he went quickly to his household, and came with a fat [roasted] calf
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 26
فَقَرَّبَهُۥٓ إِلَيۡهِمۡ قَالَ أَلَا تَأۡكُلُونَ
and placed it before them and said, “Will you not eat?”
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 27
فَأَوۡجَسَ مِنۡهُمۡ خِيفَةٗۖ قَالُواْ لَا تَخَفۡۖ وَبَشَّرُوهُ بِغُلَٰمٍ عَلِيمٖ
He perceived a fear of them. They said, “Do not be afraid,” and gave him glad tidings of a knowledgeable son
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 28
فَأَقۡبَلَتِ ٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ فِي صَرَّةٖ فَصَكَّتۡ وَجۡهَهَا وَقَالَتۡ عَجُوزٌ عَقِيمٞ
His wife cried out loud, and struck her face [in astonishment] and said, “[I am] a barren old woman!”
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 29
قَالُواْ كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
They said, “This is what your Lord said. Indeed, He is the All-Wise, the All-Knowing.”
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 30
۞قَالَ فَمَا خَطۡبُكُمۡ أَيُّهَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ
Abraham said, “Then what is your mission, O messengers?”
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 31
قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّآ أُرۡسِلۡنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمٖ مُّجۡرِمِينَ
They said, “We have been sent to a wicked people
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 32
لِنُرۡسِلَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ حِجَارَةٗ مِّن طِينٖ
to send down upon them stones of clay
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 33
مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ
marked by your Lord for the transgressors.”
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 34
فَأَخۡرَجۡنَا مَن كَانَ فِيهَا مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
We brought out those believers who were there
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 35
فَمَا وَجَدۡنَا فِيهَا غَيۡرَ بَيۡتٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ
but We only found in it one Muslim household [Lot's family]
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 36
وَتَرَكۡنَا فِيهَآ ءَايَةٗ لِّلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِيمَ
And We left there a sign [as a lesson] for those who fear the painful punishment
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 37
وَفِي مُوسَىٰٓ إِذۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ بِسُلۡطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٖ
And [there is a sign in the story of] Moses when We sent him to Pharaoh with compelling proofs
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 38
فَتَوَلَّىٰ بِرُكۡنِهِۦ وَقَالَ سَٰحِرٌ أَوۡ مَجۡنُونٞ
But he and his supporters turned away, and he said about [Moses], “A magician or a madman!”
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 39
فَأَخَذۡنَٰهُ وَجُنُودَهُۥ فَنَبَذۡنَٰهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡيَمِّ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٞ
So We seized him and his soldiers, and cast them into the sea while he was blameworthy
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 40
وَفِي عَادٍ إِذۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلرِّيحَ ٱلۡعَقِيمَ
And [there is a sign in the story of] ‘Ād, when We sent against them the devastating barren wind
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 41
مَا تَذَرُ مِن شَيۡءٍ أَتَتۡ عَلَيۡهِ إِلَّا جَعَلَتۡهُ كَٱلرَّمِيمِ
It spared nothing it came upon except that it reduced it to ruin and decay
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 42
وَفِي ثَمُودَ إِذۡ قِيلَ لَهُمۡ تَمَتَّعُواْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٖ
And [there is a sign in the story of] Thamūd, when they were told, “Enjoy yourselves for a while.”
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 43
فَعَتَوۡاْ عَنۡ أَمۡرِ رَبِّهِمۡ فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّـٰعِقَةُ وَهُمۡ يَنظُرُونَ
But they rebelled against the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them, while they were looking on
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 44
فَمَا ٱسۡتَطَٰعُواْ مِن قِيَامٖ وَمَا كَانُواْ مُنتَصِرِينَ
They could not withstand it, nor could they ward it off
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 45
وَقَوۡمَ نُوحٖ مِّن قَبۡلُۖ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ قَوۡمٗا فَٰسِقِينَ
And the people of Noah [were also destroyed] before them. They were indeed a rebellious people
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 46
وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بَنَيۡنَٰهَا بِأَيۡيْدٖ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ
We built the heaven with might, and We are indeed expanding it
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 47
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ فَرَشۡنَٰهَا فَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡمَٰهِدُونَ
And We spread out the earth. How well did We smooth it out
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 48
وَمِن كُلِّ شَيۡءٍ خَلَقۡنَا زَوۡجَيۡنِ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَذَكَّرُونَ
And We have created everything in pairs, so that you may take heed
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 49
فَفِرُّوٓاْ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۖ إِنِّي لَكُم مِّنۡهُ نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٞ
So flee to Allah. Indeed, I am a clear warner to you from Him
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 50
وَلَا تَجۡعَلُواْ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَۖ إِنِّي لَكُم مِّنۡهُ نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٞ
And do not set up another god with Allah. Indeed, I am a clear warner to you from Him.”
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 51
كَذَٰلِكَ مَآ أَتَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا قَالُواْ سَاحِرٌ أَوۡ مَجۡنُونٌ
Likewise, no messenger came to those before them without being told: “A magician, or a madman!”
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 52
أَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِهِۦۚ بَلۡ هُمۡ قَوۡمٞ طَاغُونَ
Did they suggest this to one another? Rather they are a transgressing people
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 53
فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِمَلُومٖ
So turn away from them [O Prophet], for you are not to blame
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 54
وَذَكِّرۡ فَإِنَّ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ تَنفَعُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
But keep reminding them, for reminder benefits the believers
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 55
وَمَا خَلَقۡتُ ٱلۡجِنَّ وَٱلۡإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُونِ
I have not created the jinn and mankind except to worship Me
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 56
مَآ أُرِيدُ مِنۡهُم مِّن رِّزۡقٖ وَمَآ أُرِيدُ أَن يُطۡعِمُونِ
I seek no provision from them, nor do I want them to feed Me
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 57
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلرَّزَّاقُ ذُو ٱلۡقُوَّةِ ٱلۡمَتِينُ
Indeed, it is Allah Who is the All-Provider, Lord of Power, the Mighty
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 58
فَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ ذَنُوبٗا مِّثۡلَ ذَنُوبِ أَصۡحَٰبِهِمۡ فَلَا يَسۡتَعۡجِلُونِ
Indeed, those who do wrong will have a share [of [punishment] like that of their predecessors, so let them not ask Me to hasten it
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 59
فَوَيۡلٞ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن يَوۡمِهِمُ ٱلَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ
So woe to those who disbelieve from [the punishment of] the Day which they are promised
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 60
