Surah Adh-Dhariyat - English Translation by Safi Kaskas
وَٱلذَّـٰرِيَٰتِ ذَرۡوٗا
By those [winds] scattering dust
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 1
فَٱلۡحَٰمِلَٰتِ وِقۡرٗا
and those heavily laden [with water]
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 2
فَٱلۡجَٰرِيَٰتِ يُسۡرٗا
and those sailing with ease
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 3
فَٱلۡمُقَسِّمَٰتِ أَمۡرًا
and those distributing [rain] as ordained
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 4
إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَصَادِقٞ
what you are promised is true
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 5
وَإِنَّ ٱلدِّينَ لَوَٰقِعٞ
The judgment will come
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 6
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلۡحُبُكِ
By the sky that is woven
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 7
إِنَّكُمۡ لَفِي قَوۡلٖ مُّخۡتَلِفٖ
you differ in what you say [about this message]
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 8
يُؤۡفَكُ عَنۡهُ مَنۡ أُفِكَ
He who deceives himself is misled away from it
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 9
قُتِلَ ٱلۡخَرَّـٰصُونَ
The speculators destroy themselves
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 10
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ فِي غَمۡرَةٖ سَاهُونَ
they are unaware that they are lost in ignorance
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 11
يَسۡـَٔلُونَ أَيَّانَ يَوۡمُ ٱلدِّينِ
They ask, "When is the Day of Judgment
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 12
يَوۡمَ هُمۡ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ يُفۡتَنُونَ
The Day they will be tested when they see the Fire
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 13
ذُوقُواْ فِتۡنَتَكُمۡ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ
[And will be told], "Taste your scheme. This is what you were rushing toward
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 14
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّـٰتٖ وَعُيُونٍ
While those who were mindful of God will be among Gardens and springs
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 15
ءَاخِذِينَ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ قَبۡلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُحۡسِنِينَ
accepting what their Lord has given them. Verily, they were those who do good
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 16
كَانُواْ قَلِيلٗا مِّنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ مَا يَهۡجَعُونَ
They used to sleep a little at night
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 17
وَبِٱلۡأَسۡحَارِ هُمۡ يَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَ
and at dawn they would pray for forgiveness
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 18
وَفِيٓ أَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡ حَقّٞ لِّلسَّآئِلِ وَٱلۡمَحۡرُومِ
and assign a share of their wealth to the needy and the deprived
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 19
وَفِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ءَايَٰتٞ لِّلۡمُوقِنِينَ
For the certain [in faith], they are signs on earth
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 20
وَفِيٓ أَنفُسِكُمۡۚ أَفَلَا تُبۡصِرُونَ
and in yourselves, will you not see
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 21
وَفِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ رِزۡقُكُمۡ وَمَا تُوعَدُونَ
And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 22
فَوَرَبِّ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِنَّهُۥ لَحَقّٞ مِّثۡلَ مَآ أَنَّكُمۡ تَنطِقُونَ
By the Lord of the heaven and earth, it is as true as the fact that you speak
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 23
هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ضَيۡفِ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ ٱلۡمُكۡرَمِينَ
Has the story of Abraham's honored guests reached you
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 24
إِذۡ دَخَلُواْ عَلَيۡهِ فَقَالُواْ سَلَٰمٗاۖ قَالَ سَلَٰمٞ قَوۡمٞ مُّنكَرُونَ
When they entered to see him, they said, "Peace." He answered, "Peace to you strangers
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 25
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ فَجَآءَ بِعِجۡلٖ سَمِينٖ
Then he went off to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 26
فَقَرَّبَهُۥٓ إِلَيۡهِمۡ قَالَ أَلَا تَأۡكُلُونَ
and placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 27
فَأَوۡجَسَ مِنۡهُمۡ خِيفَةٗۖ قَالُواْ لَا تَخَفۡۖ وَبَشَّرُوهُ بِغُلَٰمٍ عَلِيمٖ
He then began to feel apprehensive. They said, "Do not fear," and gave him good news of a boy who would be gifted with knowledge
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 28
فَأَقۡبَلَتِ ٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ فِي صَرَّةٖ فَصَكَّتۡ وَجۡهَهَا وَقَالَتۡ عَجُوزٌ عَقِيمٞ
His wife approached with a scream, struck her face and protested, "A barren old woman [like me]
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 29
قَالُواْ كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
They said, "Thus said your Lord; He is the All-Wise, the All-knowing
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 30
۞قَالَ فَمَا خَطۡبُكُمۡ أَيُّهَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ
[Abraham] then enquired, "What is your business, messengers
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 31
قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّآ أُرۡسِلۡنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمٖ مُّجۡرِمِينَ
They said, " We have been sent to a dissenting people
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 32
لِنُرۡسِلَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ حِجَارَةٗ مِّن طِينٖ
to send down on them rocks of clay
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 33
مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ
marked by your Lord for those who rejected His messages and have severed all relations with God
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 34
فَأَخۡرَجۡنَا مَن كَانَ فِيهَا مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
So We brought out the believers that were in town
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 35
فَمَا وَجَدۡنَا فِيهَا غَيۡرَ بَيۡتٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ
But found only one household of people who submitted to God
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 36
وَتَرَكۡنَا فِيهَآ ءَايَةٗ لِّلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِيمَ
And We left in town a sign for those who fear the painful punishment
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 37
وَفِي مُوسَىٰٓ إِذۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ بِسُلۡطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٖ
There is another sign in Moses, when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 38
فَتَوَلَّىٰ بِرُكۡنِهِۦ وَقَالَ سَٰحِرٌ أَوۡ مَجۡنُونٞ
But Pharaoh turned away with his supporters and said," A magician or a madman
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 39
فَأَخَذۡنَٰهُ وَجُنُودَهُۥ فَنَبَذۡنَٰهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡيَمِّ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٞ
So We seized him and his soldiers and threw them into the sea. Pharaoh was to blame
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 40
وَفِي عَادٍ إِذۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلرِّيحَ ٱلۡعَقِيمَ
And a sign in Aad, when We unleashed against them the devastating wind
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 41
مَا تَذَرُ مِن شَيۡءٍ أَتَتۡ عَلَيۡهِ إِلَّا جَعَلَتۡهُ كَٱلرَّمِيمِ
It spared nothing it came upon, and left it like decayed ruins
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 42
وَفِي ثَمُودَ إِذۡ قِيلَ لَهُمۡ تَمَتَّعُواْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٖ
And a sign in Thamud, it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a while
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 43
فَعَتَوۡاْ عَنۡ أَمۡرِ رَبِّهِمۡ فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّـٰعِقَةُ وَهُمۡ يَنظُرُونَ
But they defied their Lord's command, so the thunderbolt struck them as they looked
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 44
فَمَا ٱسۡتَطَٰعُواْ مِن قِيَامٖ وَمَا كَانُواْ مُنتَصِرِينَ
They were unable to rise, nor could they find help
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 45
وَقَوۡمَ نُوحٖ مِّن قَبۡلُۖ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ قَوۡمٗا فَٰسِقِينَ
And before that the people of Noah. They were wicked people
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 46
وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بَنَيۡنَٰهَا بِأَيۡيْدٖ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ
We built the universe with power, and We are steadily expanding it
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 47
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ فَرَشۡنَٰهَا فَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡمَٰهِدُونَ
And the earth We spread it out, How well We smoothed it out
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 48
وَمِن كُلِّ شَيۡءٍ خَلَقۡنَا زَوۡجَيۡنِ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَذَكَّرُونَ
And of all things We created two mates; perhaps you will reflect
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 49
فَفِرُّوٓاْ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۖ إِنِّي لَكُم مِّنۡهُ نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٞ
So flee towards God. I am sent from Him with a clear warning for you
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 50
وَلَا تَجۡعَلُواْ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَۖ إِنِّي لَكُم مِّنۡهُ نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٞ
And do not set up any other god with God. I come to you with a clear warning from Him
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 51
كَذَٰلِكَ مَآ أَتَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا قَالُواْ سَاحِرٌ أَوۡ مَجۡنُونٌ
Similarly, every time a messenger came to those before them, they said, "A magician or a madman
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 52
أَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِهِۦۚ بَلۡ هُمۡ قَوۡمٞ طَاغُونَ
Did they recommend it to one another? Rather, they are people full of tyranny
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 53
فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِمَلُومٖ
So turn away from them, you are not to blame
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 54
وَذَكِّرۡ فَإِنَّ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ تَنفَعُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
And go on reminding them. It is good for the believers to be reminded
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 55
وَمَا خَلَقۡتُ ٱلۡجِنَّ وَٱلۡإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُونِ
I only created jinn and human beings to worship Me
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 56
مَآ أُرِيدُ مِنۡهُم مِّن رِّزۡقٖ وَمَآ أُرِيدُ أَن يُطۡعِمُونِ
I do not require any provision from them, nor do I require them to feed Me
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 57
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلرَّزَّاقُ ذُو ٱلۡقُوَّةِ ٱلۡمَتِينُ
It is God who is the Provider to all, the Possessor of Power, the Strong
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 58
فَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ ذَنُوبٗا مِّثۡلَ ذَنُوبِ أَصۡحَٰبِهِمۡ فَلَا يَسۡتَعۡجِلُونِ
Those who were unjust have their share of bad deeds just like their predecessors, so let them not rush My punishment
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 59
فَوَيۡلٞ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن يَوۡمِهِمُ ٱلَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ
How terrible for the unbelievers their Day which they are promised
Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 60
