Surah Al-Qiyama - English Translation by Muhammad Taqi Ud Din Al Hilali And Muhammad Muhsin Khan
لَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ
I swear by the Day of Resurrection
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 1
وَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلنَّفۡسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ
And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer)
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 2
أَيَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجۡمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ
Does man (a disbeliever) think that We shall not assemble his bones
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 3
بَلَىٰ قَٰدِرِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُۥ
Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 4
بَلۡ يُرِيدُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ لِيَفۡجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ
Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 5
يَسۡـَٔلُ أَيَّانَ يَوۡمُ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ
He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 6
فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ
So, when the sight shall be dazed
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 7
وَخَسَفَ ٱلۡقَمَرُ
And the moon will be eclipsed
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 8
وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ
And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc)
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 9
يَقُولُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ يَوۡمَئِذٍ أَيۡنَ ٱلۡمَفَرُّ
On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 10
كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ
No! There is no refuge
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 11
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوۡمَئِذٍ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقَرُّ
Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 12
يُنَبَّؤُاْ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ يَوۡمَئِذِۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ
On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions)
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 13
بَلِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِهِۦ بَصِيرَةٞ
Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 14
وَلَوۡ أَلۡقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُۥ
Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds)
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 15
لَا تُحَرِّكۡ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعۡجَلَ بِهِۦٓ
Move not your tongue concerning (the Quran, O Muhammad SAW) to make haste therewith
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 16
إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا جَمۡعَهُۥ وَقُرۡءَانَهُۥ
It is for Us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad SAW) the ability to recite it (the Quran)
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 17
فَإِذَا قَرَأۡنَٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعۡ قُرۡءَانَهُۥ
And when We have recited it to you [O Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)], then follow you its (the Quran's) recital
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 18
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا بَيَانَهُۥ
Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 19
كَلَّا بَلۡ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَ
Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 20
وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةَ
And leave (neglect) the Hereafter
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 21
وُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ نَّاضِرَةٌ
Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant)
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 22
إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٞ
Looking at their Lord (Allah)
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 23
وَوُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذِۭ بَاسِرَةٞ
And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad)
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 24
تَظُنُّ أَن يُفۡعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٞ
Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 25
كَلَّآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِيَ
Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit)
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 26
وَقِيلَ مَنۡۜ رَاقٖ
And it will be said: "Who can cure him and save him from death
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 27
وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلۡفِرَاقُ
And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death)
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 28
وَٱلۡتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِ
And leg will be joined with another leg (shrouded)
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 29
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوۡمَئِذٍ ٱلۡمَسَاقُ
The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 30
فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ
So he (the disbeliever) neither believed (in this Quran, in the Message of Muhammad SAW) nor prayed
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 31
وَلَٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
But on the contrary, he belied (this Quran and the Message of Muhammad SAW) and turned away
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 32
ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ يَتَمَطَّىٰٓ
Then he walked in full pride to his family admiring himself
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 33
أَوۡلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوۡلَىٰ
Woe to you [O man (disbeliever)]! And then (again) woe to you
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 34
ثُمَّ أَوۡلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوۡلَىٰٓ
Again, woe to you [O man (disbeliever)]! And then (again) woe to you
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 35
أَيَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ أَن يُتۡرَكَ سُدًى
Does man think that he will be left Suda [neglected without being punished or rewarded for the obligatory duties enjoined by his Lord (Allah) on him
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 36
أَلَمۡ يَكُ نُطۡفَةٗ مِّن مَّنِيّٖ يُمۡنَىٰ
Was he not a Nutfah (mixed male and female discharge of semen) poured forth
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 37
ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةٗ فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ
Then he became an 'Alaqa (a clot); then (Allah) shaped and fashioned (him) in due proportion
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 38
فَجَعَلَ مِنۡهُ ٱلزَّوۡجَيۡنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰٓ
And made him in two sexes, male and female
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 39
أَلَيۡسَ ذَٰلِكَ بِقَٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُحۡـِۧيَ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ
Is not He (Allah Who does that), Able to give life to the dead? (Yes! He is Able to do all things)
Surah Al-Qiyama, Verse 40
