Surah Al-Insan - English Translation by The Monotheist Group Edition
هَلۡ أَتَىٰ عَلَى ٱلۡإِنسَٰنِ حِينٞ مِّنَ ٱلدَّهۡرِ لَمۡ يَكُن شَيۡـٔٗا مَّذۡكُورًا
Was there not a time in the past when man was nothing to even be mentioned
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 1
إِنَّا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِن نُّطۡفَةٍ أَمۡشَاجٖ نَّبۡتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُ سَمِيعَۢا بَصِيرًا
We have created man from a mixed seed; We test him, so We made him hear and see
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 2
إِنَّا هَدَيۡنَٰهُ ٱلسَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرٗا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا
We have guided him to the path, either to be thankful or to reject
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 3
إِنَّآ أَعۡتَدۡنَا لِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ سَلَٰسِلَاْ وَأَغۡلَٰلٗا وَسَعِيرًا
We have prepared for the rejecters chains and shackles and a blazing Fire
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 4
إِنَّ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ يَشۡرَبُونَ مِن كَأۡسٖ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا
As for the pious, they will drink from a cup with the scent of musk
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 5
عَيۡنٗا يَشۡرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ ٱللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفۡجِيرٗا
A spring from which the servants of God drink, it gushes forth abundantly
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 6
يُوفُونَ بِٱلنَّذۡرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوۡمٗا كَانَ شَرُّهُۥ مُسۡتَطِيرٗا
They fulfill their vows, and they fear a Day whose consequences are wide-spread
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 7
وَيُطۡعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسۡكِينٗا وَيَتِيمٗا وَأَسِيرًا
And they give food out of love to the poor and the orphan and the captive
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 8
إِنَّمَا نُطۡعِمُكُمۡ لِوَجۡهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمۡ جَزَآءٗ وَلَا شُكُورًا
We only feed you seeking the face of God; we do not desire from you any reward or thanks
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 9
إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوۡمًا عَبُوسٗا قَمۡطَرِيرٗا
We fear from our Lord a Day, which will be horrible and difficult
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 10
فَوَقَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمِ وَلَقَّىٰهُمۡ نَضۡرَةٗ وَسُرُورٗا
So God shielded them from the evil of that Day, and He cast towards them a look and a smile
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 11
وَجَزَىٰهُم بِمَا صَبَرُواْ جَنَّةٗ وَحَرِيرٗا
And He rewarded them for their patience with a paradise and silk
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 12
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِۖ لَا يَرَوۡنَ فِيهَا شَمۡسٗا وَلَا زَمۡهَرِيرٗا
They are reclining in it on raised couches, they do not have in it excessive sun nor bitter cold
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 13
وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيۡهِمۡ ظِلَٰلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتۡ قُطُوفُهَا تَذۡلِيلٗا
And the shade is close upon them, and the fruit is hanging low within reach
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 14
وَيُطَافُ عَلَيۡهِم بِـَٔانِيَةٖ مِّن فِضَّةٖ وَأَكۡوَابٖ كَانَتۡ قَوَارِيرَا۠
And they are served upon with bowls of silver and glasses of crystal
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 15
قَوَارِيرَاْ مِن فِضَّةٖ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقۡدِيرٗا
Crystal laced with silver, measured accordingly
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 16
وَيُسۡقَوۡنَ فِيهَا كَأۡسٗا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِيلًا
And they are given to drink in it from a cup which has the scent of ginger
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 17
عَيۡنٗا فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلۡسَبِيلٗا
A spring therein which is called 'Salsabeel
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 18
۞وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وِلۡدَٰنٞ مُّخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيۡتَهُمۡ حَسِبۡتَهُمۡ لُؤۡلُؤٗا مَّنثُورٗا
And they are encircled with eternal children. If you see them you will think they are pearls which have been scattered about
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 19
وَإِذَا رَأَيۡتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيۡتَ نَعِيمٗا وَمُلۡكٗا كَبِيرًا
And if you look, then you will see a blessing and a great dominion
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 20
عَٰلِيَهُمۡ ثِيَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضۡرٞ وَإِسۡتَبۡرَقٞۖ وَحُلُّوٓاْ أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةٖ وَسَقَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ شَرَابٗا طَهُورًا
They will have garments of fine green silk, and necklaces and bracelets from silver, and their Lord will give them a cleansing drink
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 21
إِنَّ هَٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمۡ جَزَآءٗ وَكَانَ سَعۡيُكُم مَّشۡكُورًا
This is the reward for you, and your struggle is appreciated
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 22
إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نَزَّلۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ تَنزِيلٗا
We have sent down to you the Qur'an in stages
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 23
فَٱصۡبِرۡ لِحُكۡمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعۡ مِنۡهُمۡ ءَاثِمًا أَوۡ كَفُورٗا
So be patient to the judgment of your Lord, and do not obey from them any sinner or rejecter
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 24
وَٱذۡكُرِ ٱسۡمَ رَبِّكَ بُكۡرَةٗ وَأَصِيلٗا
And remember the name of your Lord morning and evening
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 25
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ فَٱسۡجُدۡ لَهُۥ وَسَبِّحۡهُ لَيۡلٗا طَوِيلًا
And from the night you shall prostrate to Him and praise Him throughout
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 26
إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ يُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَآءَهُمۡ يَوۡمٗا ثَقِيلٗا
These people like the current life, and they put behind them a heavy Day
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 27
نَّحۡنُ خَلَقۡنَٰهُمۡ وَشَدَدۡنَآ أَسۡرَهُمۡۖ وَإِذَا شِئۡنَا بَدَّلۡنَآ أَمۡثَٰلَهُمۡ تَبۡدِيلًا
We have created them, and established them, and if We wished, We could replace their kind completely
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 28
إِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦ تَذۡكِرَةٞۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلٗا
This is a reminder, so let whoever wills take a path to his Lord
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 29
وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمٗا
And you cannot will unless God wills. God is Knowledgeable, Wise
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 30
يُدۡخِلُ مَن يَشَآءُ فِي رَحۡمَتِهِۦۚ وَٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمۡ عَذَابًا أَلِيمَۢا
He admits whom He wills to His mercy. And as for the wicked, He has prepared for them a painful retribution
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 31
