Surah Al-Insan - English Translation by Tbirving
هَلۡ أَتَىٰ عَلَى ٱلۡإِنسَٰنِ حِينٞ مِّنَ ٱلدَّهۡرِ لَمۡ يَكُن شَيۡـٔٗا مَّذۡكُورًا
Has a period in [this) age not come over (every) man when he was nothing worth mentioning
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 1
إِنَّا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِن نُّطۡفَةٍ أَمۡشَاجٖ نَّبۡتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُ سَمِيعَۢا بَصِيرًا
We have created man from a drop of semen [forming] cells so We might test him; thus We made him alert, observant
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 2
إِنَّا هَدَيۡنَٰهُ ٱلسَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرٗا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا
We have guided him along the [right] path, whether he is thankful or thankless
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 3
إِنَّآ أَعۡتَدۡنَا لِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ سَلَٰسِلَاْ وَأَغۡلَٰلٗا وَسَعِيرًا
We have prepared chains, shackles and a Blaze for disbelievers
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 4
إِنَّ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ يَشۡرَبُونَ مِن كَأۡسٖ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا
The virtuous will drink from a cup which will be mixed with camphor
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 5
عَيۡنٗا يَشۡرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ ٱللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفۡجِيرٗا
a freely gushing spring where God´s servants will drink
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 6
يُوفُونَ بِٱلنَّذۡرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوۡمٗا كَانَ شَرُّهُۥ مُسۡتَطِيرٗا
They [always] keep their word, and fear a day whose evil tends to spread around
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 7
وَيُطۡعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسۡكِينٗا وَيَتِيمٗا وَأَسِيرًا
They offer food to the needy, the orphan and the captive out of love for Him
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 8
إِنَّمَا نُطۡعِمُكُمۡ لِوَجۡهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمۡ جَزَآءٗ وَلَا شُكُورًا
We are only feeding you for God´s sake. We want no reward from you nor any thanks
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 9
إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوۡمًا عَبُوسٗا قَمۡطَرِيرٗا
We fear a gloomy, dismal day from our Lord
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 10
فَوَقَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمِ وَلَقَّىٰهُمۡ نَضۡرَةٗ وَسُرُورٗا
God will shield them from that day´s evil, and procure them splendor and happiness
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 11
وَجَزَىٰهُم بِمَا صَبَرُواْ جَنَّةٗ وَحَرِيرٗا
Their compensation for being patient will be a garden and silk (clothing)
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 12
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِۖ لَا يَرَوۡنَ فِيهَا شَمۡسٗا وَلَا زَمۡهَرِيرٗا
relaxing on couches there where they will see neither sun nor any frost
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 13
وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيۡهِمۡ ظِلَٰلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتۡ قُطُوفُهَا تَذۡلِيلٗا
Close over them will hang its awnings, while its clusters of fruit will droop low
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 14
وَيُطَافُ عَلَيۡهِم بِـَٔانِيَةٖ مِّن فِضَّةٖ وَأَكۡوَابٖ كَانَتۡ قَوَارِيرَا۠
Silver pitchers will be passed around them, and glasses made from crystal
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 15
قَوَارِيرَاْ مِن فِضَّةٖ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقۡدِيرٗا
crystal [set] with silver, which they will measure out just as they please
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 16
وَيُسۡقَوۡنَ فِيهَا كَأۡسٗا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِيلًا
and be allowed to drink from them a cup flavored with ginger
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 17
عَيۡنٗا فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلۡسَبِيلٗا
[from] a spring there that is called Nectar
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 18
۞وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وِلۡدَٰنٞ مُّخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيۡتَهُمۡ حَسِبۡتَهُمۡ لُؤۡلُؤٗا مَّنثُورٗا
Immortal youths will stroll around them; whenever you see them, you will reckon they are scattered pearls
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 19
وَإِذَا رَأَيۡتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيۡتَ نَعِيمٗا وَمُلۡكٗا كَبِيرًا
Wherever you look, you will see bliss and vast control
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 20
عَٰلِيَهُمۡ ثِيَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضۡرٞ وَإِسۡتَبۡرَقٞۖ وَحُلُّوٓاْ أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةٖ وَسَقَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ شَرَابٗا طَهُورًا
They will wear clothing made from green brocade and cloth of gold, and will be dressed up with silver bracelets, while their Lord will offer them a pure drink
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 21
إِنَّ هَٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمۡ جَزَآءٗ وَكَانَ سَعۡيُكُم مَّشۡكُورًا
This is your reward, for your effort has been appreciated
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 22
إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نَزَّلۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ تَنزِيلٗا
It is We Who have sent the Quran down to you as a revelation
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 23
فَٱصۡبِرۡ لِحُكۡمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعۡ مِنۡهُمۡ ءَاثِمًا أَوۡ كَفُورٗا
so be patient concerning your Lord´s decision and do not obey any wicked or ungrateful person among them
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 24
وَٱذۡكُرِ ٱسۡمَ رَبِّكَ بُكۡرَةٗ وَأَصِيلٗا
Remember your Lord´s name both in the early morning and late afternoon
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 25
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ فَٱسۡجُدۡ لَهُۥ وَسَبِّحۡهُ لَيۡلٗا طَوِيلًا
and during the night; bow down on your knees before Him and glorify Him all night long
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 26
إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ يُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَآءَهُمۡ يَوۡمٗا ثَقِيلٗا
Those people love a fleeting show, and leave a heavy day behind them
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 27
نَّحۡنُ خَلَقۡنَٰهُمۡ وَشَدَدۡنَآ أَسۡرَهُمۡۖ وَإِذَا شِئۡنَا بَدَّلۡنَآ أَمۡثَٰلَهُمۡ تَبۡدِيلًا
We too have created them and strengthened their sinews. Whenever We wish, We will replace them with others like them in exchange
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 28
إِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦ تَذۡكِرَةٞۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلٗا
This is merely a Reminder; anyone who wishes, may adopt a way to [meet] his Lord
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 29
وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمٗا
Anything you (all) wish is only if God so wishes too; God is Aware, Wise
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 30
يُدۡخِلُ مَن يَشَآءُ فِي رَحۡمَتِهِۦۚ وَٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمۡ عَذَابًا أَلِيمَۢا
He will admit anyone He wishes into His mercy, while He has prepared painful torment for wrongdoers
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 31
