Surah Al-Insan - English Translation by The Study Quran
هَلۡ أَتَىٰ عَلَى ٱلۡإِنسَٰنِ حِينٞ مِّنَ ٱلدَّهۡرِ لَمۡ يَكُن شَيۡـٔٗا مَّذۡكُورًا
Has there come upon man a span of time in which he was a thing unremembered
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 1
إِنَّا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِن نُّطۡفَةٍ أَمۡشَاجٖ نَّبۡتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُ سَمِيعَۢا بَصِيرًا
Truly We created man from a drop of mixed fluid that We may test him, and We endowed him with hearing, seeing
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 2
إِنَّا هَدَيۡنَٰهُ ٱلسَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرٗا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا
Truly We guided him upon the way, be he grateful or ungrateful
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 3
إِنَّآ أَعۡتَدۡنَا لِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ سَلَٰسِلَاْ وَأَغۡلَٰلٗا وَسَعِيرًا
We have surely prepared for the disbelievers chains, shackles, and a blazing flame
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 4
إِنَّ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ يَشۡرَبُونَ مِن كَأۡسٖ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا
Truly the pious drink of a cup mixed with camphor
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 5
عَيۡنٗا يَشۡرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ ٱللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفۡجِيرٗا
a fountain whereof drink the servants of God, while they make it gush forth abundantly
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 6
يُوفُونَ بِٱلنَّذۡرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوۡمٗا كَانَ شَرُّهُۥ مُسۡتَطِيرٗا
They fulfill their vows and fear a day whose evil is widespread
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 7
وَيُطۡعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسۡكِينٗا وَيَتِيمٗا وَأَسِيرًا
and give food, despite loving it, to the indigent, the orphan, and the captive
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 8
إِنَّمَا نُطۡعِمُكُمۡ لِوَجۡهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمۡ جَزَآءٗ وَلَا شُكُورًا
“We feed you only for the Face of God. We do not desire any recompense or thanks from you
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 9
إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوۡمًا عَبُوسٗا قَمۡطَرِيرٗا
Truly we fear from our Lord a grim, calamitous day.”
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 10
فَوَقَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمِ وَلَقَّىٰهُمۡ نَضۡرَةٗ وَسُرُورٗا
So God has shielded them from the evil of that Day, bestowed upon them radiance and joy
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 11
وَجَزَىٰهُم بِمَا صَبَرُواْ جَنَّةٗ وَحَرِيرٗا
and rewarded them for having been patient with a Garden and with silk
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 12
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِۖ لَا يَرَوۡنَ فِيهَا شَمۡسٗا وَلَا زَمۡهَرِيرٗا
Therein they recline upon couches, seeing neither sun nor bitter cold
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 13
وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيۡهِمۡ ظِلَٰلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتۡ قُطُوفُهَا تَذۡلِيلٗا
Its shade shall be close above them, and its clusters shall be made to hang low
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 14
وَيُطَافُ عَلَيۡهِم بِـَٔانِيَةٖ مِّن فِضَّةٖ وَأَكۡوَابٖ كَانَتۡ قَوَارِيرَا۠
And vessels of silver and goblets of crystal are brought round for them—
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 15
قَوَارِيرَاْ مِن فِضَّةٖ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقۡدِيرٗا
silvern crystal that they have measured out with due measure
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 16
وَيُسۡقَوۡنَ فِيهَا كَأۡسٗا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِيلًا
Therein they are given to drink of a cup mixed with ginger
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 17
عَيۡنٗا فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلۡسَبِيلٗا
a spring therein named Salsabil
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 18
۞وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وِلۡدَٰنٞ مُّخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيۡتَهُمۡ حَسِبۡتَهُمۡ لُؤۡلُؤٗا مَّنثُورٗا
Immortal youths wait upon them; when you see them you would suppose them to be scattered pearls
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 19
وَإِذَا رَأَيۡتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيۡتَ نَعِيمٗا وَمُلۡكٗا كَبِيرًا
And when thou seest, there thou wilt see bliss and a great kingdom
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 20
عَٰلِيَهُمۡ ثِيَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضۡرٞ وَإِسۡتَبۡرَقٞۖ وَحُلُّوٓاْ أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةٖ وَسَقَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ شَرَابٗا طَهُورًا
Upon them are garments of fine green silk and rich brocade. They are adorned with silvern bracelets and their Lord shall give them to drink of a drink most pure
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 21
إِنَّ هَٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمۡ جَزَآءٗ وَكَانَ سَعۡيُكُم مَّشۡكُورًا
Truly this is a reward for you, and your endeavoring is held in gratitude
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 22
إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نَزَّلۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ تَنزِيلٗا
Truly We have sent down the Quran upon thee as a revelation
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 23
فَٱصۡبِرۡ لِحُكۡمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعۡ مِنۡهُمۡ ءَاثِمًا أَوۡ كَفُورٗا
So be patient with thy Lord’s judgment and obey neither sinner nor disbeliever among them
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 24
وَٱذۡكُرِ ٱسۡمَ رَبِّكَ بُكۡرَةٗ وَأَصِيلٗا
And invoke the Name of thy Lord morning and evening
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 25
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ فَٱسۡجُدۡ لَهُۥ وَسَبِّحۡهُ لَيۡلٗا طَوِيلًا
prostrate unto Him during the night, and glorify Him by night at length
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 26
إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ يُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَآءَهُمۡ يَوۡمٗا ثَقِيلٗا
Truly they love the ephemeral and put a weighty day behind them
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 27
نَّحۡنُ خَلَقۡنَٰهُمۡ وَشَدَدۡنَآ أَسۡرَهُمۡۖ وَإِذَا شِئۡنَا بَدَّلۡنَآ أَمۡثَٰلَهُمۡ تَبۡدِيلًا
We created them and made firm their frames; and whensoever We will, We shall exchange them for others like them
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 28
إِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦ تَذۡكِرَةٞۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلٗا
Truly this is a reminder; so let him who will, take a way unto his Lord
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 29
وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمٗا
And you do not will but that God wills. Truly God is Knowing, Wise
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 30
يُدۡخِلُ مَن يَشَآءُ فِي رَحۡمَتِهِۦۚ وَٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمۡ عَذَابًا أَلِيمَۢا
He causes whomsoever He will to enter into His Mercy. And as for the wrongdoers, He has prepared for them a painful punishment
Surah Al-Insan, Verse 31
