Surah Al-Mutaffifin - English Translation by Muhammad Taqi Ud Din Al Hilali And Muhammad Muhsin Khan
وَيۡلٞ لِّلۡمُطَفِّفِينَ
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others]
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 1
ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكۡتَالُواْ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسۡتَوۡفُونَ
Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 2
وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمۡ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمۡ يُخۡسِرُونَ
And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 3
أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبۡعُوثُونَ
Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning)
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 4
لِيَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٖ
On a Great Day
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 5
يَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 6
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلۡفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّينٖ
Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 7
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٞ
And what will make you know what Sijjin is
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 8
كِتَٰبٞ مَّرۡقُومٞ
A Register inscribed
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 9
وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments]
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 10
ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلدِّينِ
Those who deny the Day of Recompense
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 11
وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعۡتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner)
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 12
إِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 13
كَلَّاۖ بَلۡۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ
Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 14
كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمۡ عَن رَّبِّهِمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لَّمَحۡجُوبُونَ
Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 15
ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمۡ لَصَالُواْ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 16
ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 17
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ
Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 18
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ
And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 19
كِتَٰبٞ مَّرۡقُومٞ
A Register inscribed
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 20
يَشۡهَدُهُ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ
To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels)
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 21
إِنَّ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ
Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise)
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 22
عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
On thrones, looking (at all things)
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 23
تَعۡرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمۡ نَضۡرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 24
يُسۡقَوۡنَ مِن رَّحِيقٖ مَّخۡتُومٍ
They will be given to drink pure sealed wine
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 25
خِتَٰمُهُۥ مِسۡكٞۚ وَفِي ذَٰلِكَ فَلۡيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلۡمُتَنَٰفِسُونَ
The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah)
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 26
وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسۡنِيمٍ
It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 27
عَيۡنٗا يَشۡرَبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ
A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 28
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجۡرَمُواْ كَانُواْ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ يَضۡحَكُونَ
Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 29
وَإِذَا مَرُّواْ بِهِمۡ يَتَغَامَزُونَ
And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery)
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 30
وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓاْ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُواْ فَكِهِينَ
And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 31
وَإِذَا رَأَوۡهُمۡ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ
And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 32
وَمَآ أُرۡسِلُواْ عَلَيۡهِمۡ حَٰفِظِينَ
But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers)
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 33
فَٱلۡيَوۡمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنَ ٱلۡكُفَّارِ يَضۡحَكُونَ
But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 34
عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
On (high) thrones, looking (at all things)
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 35
هَلۡ ثُوِّبَ ٱلۡكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُواْ يَفۡعَلُونَ
Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 36
