Surah Al-Mutaffifin - English Translation by Tbirving
وَيۡلٞ لِّلۡمُطَفِّفِينَ
It will be too bad for cheats
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 1
ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكۡتَالُواْ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسۡتَوۡفُونَ
who insist on receiving everything when they have people measure something out for them
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 2
وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمۡ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمۡ يُخۡسِرُونَ
yet whenever they measure or weigh things for others, they give (them) less than their due
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 3
أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبۡعُوثُونَ
Do not such persons suppose they will be raised up again
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 4
لِيَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٖ
[to render accounts] on a tremendous day
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 5
يَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
a day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 6
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلۡفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّينٖ
Indeed not, the loose-livers´ book will be [kept] in a vault
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 7
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٞ
What will make you realize what such a dungeon is like
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 8
كِتَٰبٞ مَّرۡقُومٞ

Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 9
وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
It will be too bad for rejectors on that day
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 10
ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلدِّينِ
those who deny the Day for Repayment
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 11
وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعۡتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
Each vicious transgressor will plainly reject it
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 12
إِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
when Our signs are recited to him, he will say: "[These are] legends by primitive men
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 13
كَلَّاۖ بَلۡۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ
Of course not; rather whatever they used to do lies like rust on their hearts
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 14
كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمۡ عَن رَّبِّهِمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لَّمَحۡجُوبُونَ
Indeed they will be screened off from their Lord on that day
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 15
ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمۡ لَصَالُواْ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
next they will roast in Hades
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 16
ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
Then someone will say: "This is what you have been rejecting
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 17
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ
Of course the book for the virtuous will rest in the Highest [Heavens]
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 18
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ
What will make you realize what the Highest [Heavens] are
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 19
كِتَٰبٞ مَّرۡقُومٞ
An annotated book
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 20
يَشۡهَدُهُ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ
which those closest [to God] will bear witness to
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 21
إِنَّ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ
The virtuous will [dwell] in Bliss
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 22
عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
on couches watching
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 23
تَعۡرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمۡ نَضۡرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
You will recognize a blissful splendor on their faces
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 24
يُسۡقَوۡنَ مِن رَّحِيقٖ مَّخۡتُومٍ
They will be offered a scaled potion to drink
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 25
خِتَٰمُهُۥ مِسۡكٞۚ وَفِي ذَٰلِكَ فَلۡيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلۡمُتَنَٰفِسُونَ
whose seal will be musk. For that let rivals compete
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 26
وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسۡنِيمٍ
It will be blended with a beverage
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 27
عَيۡنٗا يَشۡرَبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ
from a spring where those close [to God] will drink
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 28
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجۡرَمُواْ كَانُواْ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ يَضۡحَكُونَ
Those who commit crimes used to laugh at those who believe
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 29
وَإِذَا مَرُّواْ بِهِمۡ يَتَغَامَزُونَ
Whenever they pass by them, they nod to one another
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 30
وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓاْ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُواْ فَكِهِينَ
Then when they go back to their own people, they return exultant
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 31
وَإِذَا رَأَوۡهُمۡ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ
Whenever they see them, they say: "Those (men) are far astray
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 32
وَمَآ أُرۡسِلُواْ عَلَيۡهِمۡ حَٰفِظِينَ
They have not been sent as overseers (to be) set up over them
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 33
فَٱلۡيَوۡمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنَ ٱلۡكُفَّارِ يَضۡحَكُونَ
so today those who believe will laugh at disbelievers
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 34
عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
from couches where they [lie] watching
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 35
هَلۡ ثُوِّبَ ٱلۡكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُواْ يَفۡعَلُونَ
Are not disbelievers being compensated for just what they have been doing
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 36
