Surah Al-Mutaffifin - English Translation by Safi Kaskas
وَيۡلٞ لِّلۡمُطَفِّفِينَ
How terrible it is to those who give short measures
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 1
ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكۡتَالُواْ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسۡتَوۡفُونَ
who, when they take a measure from people, take in full
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 2
وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمۡ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمۡ يُخۡسِرُونَ
But when they measure or weigh for others, they cheat
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 3
أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبۡعُوثُونَ
Don't such people realize that they will be resurrected
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 4
لِيَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٖ
for a grievous Day
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 5
يَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
the Day when Humankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 6
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلۡفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّينٖ
Indeed, the record of the wicked is in Sijjeen
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 7
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٞ
And how would you know what Sijjeen is
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 8
كِتَٰبٞ مَّرۡقُومٞ
It is a locked-in digital data record
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 9
وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
How terrible it is that Day for the deniers
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 10
ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلدِّينِ
who deny the Day of Judgment
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 11
وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعۡتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
when only sinful aggressors deny it
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 12
إِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of ancient people
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 13
كَلَّاۖ بَلۡۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ
Not at all! Rather, their hearts have become encrusted by what they were earning
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 14
كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمۡ عَن رَّبِّهِمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لَّمَحۡجُوبُونَ
They will be separated from their Lord, that Day
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 15
ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمۡ لَصَالُواْ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Then, they will be rekindling Hell
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 16
ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
They will be then told, "This is what you used to deny
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 17
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ
No indeed! The righteous' record is in 'Illiyyun
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 18
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ
And how would you know what is Illiyyun
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 19
كِتَٰبٞ مَّرۡقُومٞ
It is a digital data record
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 20
يَشۡهَدُهُ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ
open to be witnessed by those brought near [to God]
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 21
إِنَّ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ
Indeed, the righteous will be in perfect bliss
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 22
عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
seated on couches, looking around
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 23
تَعۡرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمۡ نَضۡرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
You will recognize the radiance of bliss on their faces
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 24
يُسۡقَوۡنَ مِن رَّحِيقٖ مَّخۡتُومٍ
They will be given pure virgin nectar to drink
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 25
خِتَٰمُهُۥ مِسۡكٞۚ وَفِي ذَٰلِكَ فَلۡيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلۡمُتَنَٰفِسُونَ
leaving a great taste in the mouth. Let people with aspirations, aspire to that
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 26
وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسۡنِيمٍ
It is mixed with the water from Tasneem
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 27
عَيۡنٗا يَشۡرَبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ
a spring from which those near [to God] drink
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 28
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجۡرَمُواْ كَانُواْ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ يَضۡحَكُونَ
Those who rejected the faith and severed their relation with God used to laugh at those who believed
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 29
وَإِذَا مَرُّواْ بِهِمۡ يَتَغَامَزُونَ
They would wink at one another when the believers passed by them
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 30
وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓاْ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُواْ فَكِهِينَ
joking about them when they returned to their people
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 31
وَإِذَا رَأَوۡهُمۡ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ
And if they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 32
وَمَآ أُرۡسِلُواْ عَلَيۡهِمۡ حَٰفِظِينَ
Yet, they were not sent as guardians over them
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 33
فَٱلۡيَوۡمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنَ ٱلۡكُفَّارِ يَضۡحَكُونَ
So today those who believed will laugh at the unbelievers
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 34
عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
while seated on luxurious furnishings, looking around
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 35
هَلۡ ثُوِّبَ ٱلۡكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُواْ يَفۡعَلُونَ
Have the unbelievers been rewarded for their deeds
Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Verse 36
