Surah Al-Burooj - English Translation by Aisha Bewley
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلۡبُرُوجِ
By Heaven with its Houses of the Zodiac
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 1
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡمَوۡعُودِ
and the Promised Day
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 2
وَشَاهِدٖ وَمَشۡهُودٖ
and the witness and the witnessed
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 3
قُتِلَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡأُخۡدُودِ
cursed be the Companions of the Pit —
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 4
ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلۡوَقُودِ
the fire well stocked with fuel —
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 5
إِذۡ هُمۡ عَلَيۡهَا قُعُودٞ
when they were seated right beside it
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 6
وَهُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفۡعَلُونَ بِٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ شُهُودٞ
witnessing what they did to the muminun
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 7
وَمَا نَقَمُواْ مِنۡهُمۡ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤۡمِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡحَمِيدِ
The only reason they punished them was because they had iman in Allah, the Almighty, the All-Praiseworthy —
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 8
ٱلَّذِي لَهُۥ مُلۡكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ شَهِيدٌ
Him to whom the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth belongs. Allah is Witness of all things
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 9
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُواْ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَتُوبُواْ فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ ٱلۡحَرِيقِ
Those who persecute men and women of the muminun, and then do not make tawba, will have the punishment of Hell, will have the punishment of the Burning
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 10
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمۡ جَنَّـٰتٞ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡكَبِيرُ
But those who have iman and do right actions will have Gardens with rivers flowing under them. That is the Great Victory
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 11
إِنَّ بَطۡشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ
Your Lord´s Assault is very fierce indeed
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 12
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبۡدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ
He originates and regenerates
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 13
وَهُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلۡوَدُودُ
He is the Ever-Forgiving, the All-Loving
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 14
ذُو ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡمَجِيدُ
the Possessor of the Throne, the All-Glorious
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 15
فَعَّالٞ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ
the Doer of whatever He desires
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 16
هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلۡجُنُودِ
Has the story reached you of the legions
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 17
فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَثَمُودَ
of Pharaoh and Thamud
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 18
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فِي تَكۡذِيبٖ
Yet those who are kafir insist on their denial
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 19
وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطُۢ
while Allah is encircling them from behind
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 20
بَلۡ هُوَ قُرۡءَانٞ مَّجِيدٞ
It is indeed a Glorious Qur´an
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 21
فِي لَوۡحٖ مَّحۡفُوظِۭ
preserved on a Tablet
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 22
