Surah Al-Burooj - English Translation by Dr Laleh Bakhtiar
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلۡبُرُوجِ
By the heaven possessing the constellations
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 1
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡمَوۡعُودِ
by the promised Day
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 2
وَشَاهِدٖ وَمَشۡهُودٖ
by ones who bear witness and ones who are witnessed
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 3
قُتِلَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡأُخۡدُودِ
the Companions of the Ditch were slain
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 4
ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلۡوَقُودِ
possessors of the fuel of the fire
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 5
إِذۡ هُمۡ عَلَيۡهَا قُعُودٞ
above which they were ones who sit
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 6
وَهُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفۡعَلُونَ بِٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ شُهُودٞ
as they were, in what they accomplish against the ones who believe, ones who bore witness
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 7
وَمَا نَقَمُواْ مِنۡهُمۡ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤۡمِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡحَمِيدِ
And they sought revenge on them only because they believe in God, The Almighty, The Worthy of Praise
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 8
ٱلَّذِي لَهُۥ مُلۡكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ شَهِيدٌ
Him to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And God is Witness over everything
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 9
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُواْ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَتُوبُواْ فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ ٱلۡحَرِيقِ
Truly, those who persecuted the males, ones who believe and the females, ones who believe and again repent not after that, for them is the punishment of hell and for them is the punishment of the burning
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 10
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمۡ جَنَّـٰتٞ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡكَبِيرُ
Truly, those who believed and did as the ones in accord with morality, for them will be Gardens beneath which rivers run. That will be the Great Triumph
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 11
إِنَّ بَطۡشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ
Truly, the seizing by force by thy Lord is severe
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 12
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبۡدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ
Truly, He causes to begin and He causes to return
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 13
وَهُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلۡوَدُودُ
And He is The Forgiving, The Loving
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 14
ذُو ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡمَجِيدُ
the Possessor of the Glorious Throne
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 15
فَعَّالٞ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ
Achiever of what He wants
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 16
هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلۡجُنُودِ
Approached thee the discourse of the armies
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 17
فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَثَمُودَ
of Pharaoh and of Thamud
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 18
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فِي تَكۡذِيبٖ
Nay! Those who were ungrateful are belying
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 19
وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطُۢ
and God is One Who Encloses them from behind
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 20
بَلۡ هُوَ قُرۡءَانٞ مَّجِيدٞ
Nay! It is a glorious Recitation
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 21
فِي لَوۡحٖ مَّحۡفُوظِۭ
inscribed on the Guarded Tablet
Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 22
