Surah Al-Ala - English Translation by Ali Quli Qarai
سَبِّحِ ٱسۡمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡأَعۡلَى
                  Celebrate the Name of your Lord, the Most Exalted                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 1
                
ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ
                  who created and proportioned                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 2
                
وَٱلَّذِي قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ
                  who determined and guided                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 3
                
وَٱلَّذِيٓ أَخۡرَجَ ٱلۡمَرۡعَىٰ
                  who brought forth the pasture                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 4
                
فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحۡوَىٰ
                  and then turned it into a black scum                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 5
                
سَنُقۡرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ
                  We shall have you recite [the Quran], then you will not forget [any of it]                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 6
                
إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعۡلَمُ ٱلۡجَهۡرَ وَمَا يَخۡفَىٰ
                  except what Allah may wish. Indeed, He knows the open and what is hidden                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 7
                
وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلۡيُسۡرَىٰ
                  And We shall ease you into facility                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 8
                
فَذَكِّرۡ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ
                  So admonish, for admonition is indeed beneficial                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 9
                
سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخۡشَىٰ
                  he who fears [God] will take admonition                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 10
                
وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلۡأَشۡقَى
                  and the most wretched will shun it                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 11
                
ٱلَّذِي يَصۡلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ
                  —he who will enter the Great Fire                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 12
                
ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحۡيَىٰ
                  then he will neither live in it, nor die                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 13
                
قَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ
                  ‘Felicitous is he who purifies himself                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 14
                
وَذَكَرَ ٱسۡمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ
                  celebrates the Name of his Lord, and prays                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 15
                
بَلۡ تُؤۡثِرُونَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا
                  But you prefer the life of this world                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 16
                
وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةُ خَيۡرٞ وَأَبۡقَىٰٓ
                  while the Hereafter is better and more lasting.’                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 17
                
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِي ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ
                  This is indeed in the former scriptures                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 18
                
صُحُفِ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ
                  the scriptures of Abraham and Moses                  
                  Surah Al-Ala, Verse 19
