Surah Al-Inshiqaq - English Translation by Mohammad Shafi
إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتۡ
When the sky splits asunder
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 1
وَأَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتۡ
And responds to its Lord, and it is bound [to respond]
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 2
وَإِذَا ٱلۡأَرۡضُ مُدَّتۡ
And when the earth is levelled
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 3
وَأَلۡقَتۡ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتۡ
And it throws out its contents, and becomes void
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 4
وَأَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتۡ
And responds to its Lord, and it is bound [to respond]
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 5
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدۡحٗا فَمُلَٰقِيهِ
O human! You do indeed have to put in hard labour to go to your Lord, and then you meet Him
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 6
فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ
And as for him whose book of deeds is placed in his right hand
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 7
فَسَوۡفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابٗا يَسِيرٗا
He will then face his accounting with ease
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 8
وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ مَسۡرُورٗا
And he will turn to his own people in joy
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 9
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهۡرِهِۦ
And as for him whose book of deeds is given to him behind his back
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 10
فَسَوۡفَ يَدۡعُواْ ثُبُورٗا
He will pray for [his own death and] destruction
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 11
وَيَصۡلَىٰ سَعِيرًا
And he will burn in blazing Fire
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 12
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِيٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ مَسۡرُورًا
He had indeed been living happily engrossed [on earth] among people of his own kind
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 13
إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ
He had indeed thought he would never return [to life]
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 14
بَلَىٰٓۚ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرٗا
Yes indeed! His Lord had kept a watch over him
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 15
فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ
But no! [He shall not continue to remain dead.] I swear by the afterglow of sunset
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 16
وَٱلَّيۡلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ
And by the night, and what it veils in its darkness
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 17
وَٱلۡقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ
And by the moon, at its full
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 18
لَتَرۡكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٖ
You [humans] do move from stage to stage
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 19
فَمَا لَهُمۡ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ
Then how come they believe not [in a life to come]
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 20
وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ لَا يَسۡجُدُونَۤ۩
And when the Qur'aan is read out to them, they prostrate not
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 21
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُكَذِّبُونَ
On the contrary, they who suppress the truth dny it [this divine writ]
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 22
وَٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ
And Allah knows what they keep to themselves
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 23
فَبَشِّرۡهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
So give them the prospect of grievous suffering [in the life to come]
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 24
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمۡ أَجۡرٌ غَيۡرُ مَمۡنُونِۭ
But not to those who believe and do good deeds. For them is there a reward unending
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 25
