Surah Al-Inshiqaq - English Translation by Farook Malik
إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتۡ
When heaven will split asunder
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 1
وَأَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتۡ
obeying her Lord’s command as she ought to
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 2
وَإِذَا ٱلۡأَرۡضُ مُدَّتۡ
When the earth will spread out
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 3
وَأَلۡقَتۡ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتۡ
and cast out all that is within her and becomes empty
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 4
وَأَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتۡ
obeying her Lord’s command as she ought to
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 5
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدۡحٗا فَمُلَٰقِيهِ
O mankind! Surely you must strive towards your Lord, a hard striving, then you shall meet Him
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 6
فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ
Then he who will be given his Book of deeds in his right hand
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 7
فَسَوۡفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابٗا يَسِيرٗا
shall have a quick and easy reckoning
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 8
وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ مَسۡرُورٗا
and shall return to his people rejoicing
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 9
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهۡرِهِۦ
But he who will be given his book of deeds from behind his back
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 10
فَسَوۡفَ يَدۡعُواْ ثُبُورٗا
shall soon be calling for death
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 11
وَيَصۡلَىٰ سَعِيرًا
and shall be made to enter a blazing fire
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 12
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِيٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ مَسۡرُورًا
for he used to live happily with his kinfolks
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 13
إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ
and thought that he would never return to Allah for accountability
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 14
بَلَىٰٓۚ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرٗا
Yet, surely his Lord was ever watching
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 15
فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ
I swear by the glow of sunset
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 16
وَٱلَّيۡلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ
by the night and all that it gathers together
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 17
وَٱلۡقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ
by the moon, when she grows full
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 18
لَتَرۡكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٖ
that you shall gradually pass from one stage to another
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 19
فَمَا لَهُمۡ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ
What is the matter with the people that they do not believe
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 20
وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ لَا يَسۡجُدُونَۤ۩
and when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not prostrate
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 21
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُكَذِّبُونَ
Nay! The unbelievers will deny
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 22
وَٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ
and Allah knows what they are hiding in their hearts
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 23
فَبَشِّرۡهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
Therefore, proclaim to them a painful punishment
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 24
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمۡ أَجۡرٌ غَيۡرُ مَمۡنُونِۭ
except those who embrace the true faith and do good deeds; for them there will be a never ending reward
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 25
