Surah Al-Inshiqaq - English Translation by Mufti Taqi Usmani
إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتۡ
When the sky will split apart
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 1
وَأَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتۡ
and will listen to (the command of) its Lord,- and it ought to
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 2
وَإِذَا ٱلۡأَرۡضُ مُدَّتۡ
and when the earth will be stretched (to give room to more people)
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 3
وَأَلۡقَتۡ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتۡ
and it will throw up whatever it contains, and will become empty
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 4
وَأَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتۡ
and will listen to (the command of) its Lord,- and it ought to,- (then man will see the consequences of his deeds)
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 5
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدۡحٗا فَمُلَٰقِيهِ
O man, you have to work hard constantly to reach your Lord, and then you have to meet Him
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 6
فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ
So, as for him whose book (of deeds) will be given to him in his right hand
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 7
فَسَوۡفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابٗا يَسِيرٗا
he will be called to account in an easy manner
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 8
وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ مَسۡرُورٗا
and he will go back to his people joyfully
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 9
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهۡرِهِۦ
As for the one whose book (of deeds) will be given to him from his backside
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 10
فَسَوۡفَ يَدۡعُواْ ثُبُورٗا
he will pray for death
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 11
وَيَصۡلَىٰ سَعِيرًا
and will enter the blazing fire
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 12
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِيٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ مَسۡرُورًا
He had been joyful among his people (in the world)
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 13
إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ
He thought he would never revert (to Allah)
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 14
بَلَىٰٓۚ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرٗا
No! Indeed his Lord was watchful over him
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 15
فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ
So, I swear by the twilight (after sunset)
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 16
وَٱلَّيۡلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ
and by the night and what it envelops
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 17
وَٱلۡقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ
and by the moon when it develops at the full
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 18
لَتَرۡكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٖ
you shall certainly ascend from stage to stage
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 19
فَمَا لَهُمۡ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ
So, what is wrong with them that they do not believe
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 20
وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ لَا يَسۡجُدُونَۤ۩
and when the Qur’ān is recited to them, they do not offer sajdah (prostration)
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 21
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُكَذِّبُونَ
Rather, those who disbelieve deny (the truth)
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 22
وَٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ
And Allah is most aware of what they store
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 23
فَبَشِّرۡهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
So, give him the ‘good news’ of a painful punishment
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 24
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمۡ أَجۡرٌ غَيۡرُ مَمۡنُونِۭ
but those who believed and did righteous deeds will have a reward that will never be interrupted
Surah Al-Inshiqaq, Verse 25
