Have you not regarded how your Lord dealt with [the people of] ‘Ad

[and] Iram, [the city] of the pillars
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 7

the like of which was not created among cities
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 8

and [the people of] Thamud, who hollowed out the rocks in the valley
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 9

                  and Pharaoh, the impaler
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 10

—those who rebelled [against Allah] in their cities
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 11

and caused much corruption in them
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 12

so your Lord poured on them lashes of punishment
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 13

Indeed your Lord is in ambush
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 14

As for man, whenever his Lord tests him, and grants him honour, and blesses him, he says, ‘My Lord has honoured me.’
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 15

But when He tests him and tightens for him his provision, he says, ‘My Lord has humiliated me.’
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 16

No indeed! No, you do not honour the orphan
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 17

and do not urge the feeding of the needy
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 18

                  You eat the inheritance rapaciously
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 19

and love wealth with much fondness
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 20

No indeed! When the earth is levelled to a plain
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 21

and your Lord [’s edict] arrives with the angels in ranks
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 22

the day when hell is brought [near], man will take admonition on that day, but what will that admonition avail him
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 23

He will say, ‘Alas, had I sent ahead for my life [in the Hereafter]!’
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 24

On that day none shall punish as He punishes
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 25

and none shall bind as He binds
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 26

                  ‘O soul at peace
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 27

Return to your Lord, pleased and pleasing
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 28

                  Then enter among My servants
                  Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 29

                  and enter My paradise!’
