Surah At-Tariq - English Translation by Dr Kamal Omar
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ
The heaven and At-Tariq ('The strictly adhering to a set path') act as a witness (to Allah’s Majesty)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 1
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ
And what made you realise what At-Tariq is
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 2
ٱلنَّجۡمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ
(It is) a star of piercing brightness
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 3
إِن كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ لَّمَّا عَلَيۡهَا حَافِظٞ
There is no (human) Nafs but over her is a protector
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 4
فَلۡيَنظُرِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ
So let the human being ponder from what he has been created
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 5
خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٖ دَافِقٖ
He is created from a fluid ejecting itself swiftly
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 6
يَخۡرُجُ مِنۢ بَيۡنِ ٱلصُّلۡبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ
it proceeds from between back-bones and the ribs (since it is here where the source initially resides)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 7
إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجۡعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٞ
Surely, He is All-Capable over his revival (on the Day of Resurrection)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 8
يَوۡمَ تُبۡلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ
the Day when the secrets are subjected to Accountability
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 9
فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٖ وَلَا نَاصِرٖ
Then there is not for him from any (power) and nor (any one) out of that who helps
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 10
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجۡعِ
The heaven possessing reemergence [of clouds and rains (is a witness, of the Majesty of its Creator]
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 11
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدۡعِ
and the earth, possessor of the action of splitting-up
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 12
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلٞ فَصۡلٞ
Verily, this (Al-Kitab is) indeed a Qawlun Faslun
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 13
وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلۡهَزۡلِ
And it is not a senseless statement
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 14
إِنَّهُمۡ يَكِيدُونَ كَيۡدٗا
Surely, they (i.e., the hypocrites and the disbelievers) plot a stratagem (against the propagation of Al-Kitab)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 15
وَأَكِيدُ كَيۡدٗا
And I (also) plan a stratagem
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 16
فَمَهِّلِ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ أَمۡهِلۡهُمۡ رُوَيۡدَۢا
So give (some) respite to the disbelievers. Provide them a temporary respite
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 17
