Surah At-Tariq - English Translation by Dr Munir Munshey
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ
(I swear) by the sky, and the night star
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 1
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ
And how would you know what the night star is
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 2
ٱلنَّجۡمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ
(It is) a bright star
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 3
إِن كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ لَّمَّا عَلَيۡهَا حَافِظٞ
There is no soul without a guardian over it
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 4
فَلۡيَنظُرِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ
Let man look at (and bear in mind) the substance he is created from
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 5
خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٖ دَافِقٖ
(He is) created from the surging fluid
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 6
يَخۡرُجُ مِنۢ بَيۡنِ ٱلصُّلۡبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ
Which springs from between the spine and the ribs
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 7
إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجۡعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٞ
Indeed, He is (certainly) capable of bringing man back to life
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 8
يَوۡمَ تُبۡلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ
That day, (all) secrets would be laid bare
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 9
فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٖ وَلَا نَاصِرٖ
(That day), man shall not have any strength, nor any helpers
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 10
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجۡعِ
(I swear) by the sky that repeatedly sends rain down
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 11
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدۡعِ
And by the earth that splits (and lets plants emerge)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 12
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلٞ فَصۡلٞ
Indeed, this Qur´an is the statement that sifts (right from wrong)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 13
وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلۡهَزۡلِ
It is not an idle tale
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 14
إِنَّهُمۡ يَكِيدُونَ كَيۡدٗا
They are hatching a nefarious plot
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 15
وَأَكِيدُ كَيۡدٗا
But I, too, shall devise a scheme
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 16
فَمَهِّلِ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ أَمۡهِلۡهُمۡ رُوَيۡدَۢا
So give the unbelievers a little respite. Deal with them gently for a while
